Me, serve aboard a destroyer?! You are talking to the Lord Admiral of Battlefleet Ostindia! I have over a hundred ships under my command; sloops to frigates, corvettes to battleships! But would I serve aboard a destroyer? Absolutely! To serve the Emperor is to love the Emperor, and while I struggle to imagine what cataclysm would befall my fortunes to reduce me to a single escort, were such to occur, I would carry out my duties in the finest traditions of the Service!
Actually that's a pretty standard boarding action especially for Space Marines. Except those torpedos are huge, being able to hold a full squad with terminators.
Servitors are too dumb and vurneable, when facing dark (or simply seditious) mechanicus personell. Boarding is much about decisions in the batle (to wich subsystem will we press?, will we stay coherent, or should we separate to risk our strenght in numbers for more tactical flexibility? Should we besiege and destroy the enemys strenghtpoint, or should we simply circumevent it to let potential counteratack source be, in exchange for time?) ALL those decisions are FAR beyond ability of simple war servitor. Even if the servitor is backed by own mechanicus priest, who basicaly remotely "drives" it and makes all decisions for it, the combination is not nearly as flexible and ussefull in the battlefield situation, as battlehardened veterans (WITH EXPERIENCES in boarding) of IG, or SM.
They should load boarding torpedoes with poisonous gas. Sure, the enemy might be able to seal the bulkheads in the general area of the ship where the torpedoes hit, but it would still do a lot of damage and render that area of the ship unlivable until they could find a way to vent the gas.
@@whitemale2230 virus warheads are a thing, but spaceships - especially warships - are generally built with redundancies to survive being Voided, so you'll kill at most a section or two unless they enemy is already so battered they can't muster effective damage control. And at that point, a regular boarding party shouldn't have any problems.
Basically the Emperor Class Battleship would be the closest in analogy since it has 2 ordnance launch bays (Only ship on the Imperial lineup that has more than 1), while Mars and Dictator class Battlecruiser/cruiser would come closer to a half-carrier with 1 bay each. However these being ships of the goddamn empire of mankind, even carriers are fitted with formidable anti-ship weaponry, thus there really aren't any "Stay in the rear/middle of formation due to fragility" type of carriers as the Empire likes to get up and close and personal with their enemies. An honorable mention goes to Oberon class battleship since it also has 1 bay as well, but it's mostly used as a means to deploy defensive fighters instead of truly massing hit and run/bombers on the enemy ships.
Didn't know that bit of fluff, always assumed they only employed point defense turrets for defense against smaller targets if they lacked ord bays... Cannot wait and see what else you have to share on continuation of the ships of imperium series :) Keep up the great work!
@@RocketHarry865 I've seen frigates depicted in a few contrary ways in multiple fictional settings. In some, they're just under cruisers, in others just above a corvette. I never saw any rhyme or reason to it.
Actually trademark is still right there as the property is alive and well (see Total War Warhammer). I was just braving the legality of it with the Empire Army series. I wouldn't be opposed to doing Gotrek and Felix but since I'm doing lore videos every day now, It would have to be a commission from someone, and I don't see anyone being that generous :)
Cruisers for me. Beat anything you can't outrun and fast enough to flee from a battleship or battlebarge. Excellent jack of all trades ships.
Good balance between speed and firepower indeed.
When you realise some escorts were the size of Imperial Class Star Destroyers
Time to pack our toys and stay in our own universe.

How do you get the boarding torpedo job, jesus christ if there was ever a job for war servitors

this is dope .. those info re so so interesting to me amazing video man as always
Glad you like them!
that moment when you realize that the cobra is about same size as a ISD
and has massively oversized weapons.
I think frigates are slightly even bigger than ISD's :D
" Captain mount a frontal assault on that Chaos Battle Barge so my bridge crew can go to lunch. Thank you for your service." says the Fleet Commander.
Thanks for the vid sir.👍🏼👍🏼
No problem 👍
So many types of ship. Cobra and Viper Destroyers are huge ship. 6:57 Imperial Guard are aboard Imperial Navy ship are serve The Emperor's name.
More types are coming soon :)
I'll definitely serve on a destroyer why wouldn't you want to new server away from the fleet.
Great video. Do they have an equivalent to the modern day air craft carrier in 40k? 👍
Tyson Gardner pretty sure battleships carry aircraft and thus fill that role.

OctoMoose covered it but I would also like to generally mention that most capital ships do have fighters of some sort.

Next up are frigates, then probably cruiser classes. At least a couple of videos for each depending on how much fluff there is on each class :)
For the algorithm...
Hello RUclips algorithm. Please be helpful and bump up the subscribers of a RUclipsr I like.
I wonder why in 40k Destroyers are smaller than Frigates?
Well, destroyers are part of the escort class, which are the smallest class of warship.
@@GrimDarkNarrator so are frigates.
