I agree with you, I love my Schuyler Canterbury. I will say this - and hopefully it comes across correctly - I believe that Allan make the "flagship" KJV, it's what most people picture when they think of a top line KJV. Schuyler makes the best KJV, it has features that no one thought about that, but once you have it, you see how useful / beautiful they are.

I just bought a KJV Blackpearl Canterbury full yapp and I love it so beautiful. I won’t buy a Cambridge ever knowing it has the Royal coat of arms on it. Go watch Tim Cohens video on Charles .

An excellent comparison video! I purchased a Schuyler Canterbury in brown calfskin when they first became available and it is a lovely Bible. However, the pronunciation marks were worthless and were more of a distraction than anything else. Since then, I have acquired a Cambridge Cameo (which is much like a smaller Turquoise), and a Cambridge Concord - both outstanding King James Bibles. For me though, I have to give the nod to the Cambridge offerings because I believe they are of slightly better quality - particularly regarding the art gilt and gold gilding. Just my humble opinion, of course!

Thanks for the comment. The new Canterbury has the same 28 gsm paper as the Turquoise, the red under gold gilding is darker, red letter, and no more pronunciation marks.

I just ordered a Cantebury in slate goatskin, the text itself and the pages look beautiful. Can't wait to start reading mine. It was supposed to be my church Bible, but I might not be able to put it down

This is true. Your example with the Skylure Bible made me go out and buy one and I have been reading more.

I'm trying to make this exact decision right now. I keep going back and forth between the two. The only thing that stops me from going with the Canterbury is that the text seems grayish rather than black. I want to buy the one that will allow me hours of reading without much eye strain.
I'm about to flip a coin and call it a day. LOL.

They are both very nice. I think the Canterbury is easier on the eyes for long reading. It is black, but may seem a little grayish on photo or video since it isn’t the facsimile of the old hot medal bold print press that the Turquoise has. If you like that the Turquoise wins out. The Canterbury also has more space between the letters, words, and lines, so that contributes to it. My suggestion - if you can - BOTH!!! 😀

@@faithtowalkministries132 Haha, that's exactly what I did. Two of each even. 😂
If I had to choose between the two, I probably wouldn't be able to! I really love the looks of the Canterbury, the bottom of page references and the red letters on all the words of Jesus, but there is something special to the Turquoise having a scan of those old plates and it just FEELS more solid, though that last is probably just in my head. 😂
All that said, if I ever buy one more Bible, I'll probably have to sleep on the sofa for a few weeks...

@@BibleLovingLutheran with respect to the print size I would prefer the Thomas Nelson premier as it provides 12-point font print.

Wonderful comparison video. I agree with you on all points including how the high quality of a premium Bible enhances the reading experience. I have actually had this same experience myself. I read much more often. I have all 3 of the same Bibles also. I personally rank them as the Schuyler Canterbury first, the Allan 53 Longprimer second, and the Cambridge Turquoise third. But love all 3. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Mike, I recognize you from Tim Wildsmith’s channel! Very inspiring to see your generosity in his giveaway. Seeing you’re a man of many bibles, is their any chance you have Schuyler Westminster you’d be willing to sell? Or know of anyone who would? I was pretty bummed I didn’t win the one he gave away. I even offered the winner to buy it or swap for the Bible of her choice but she didn’t respond. 😢

My wife has a Canterbury and I don't like it much. The white space is nice but I find the words too big, which sounds crazy but there it is The goat skin cover also doesn't feel substantial enough for such a weighty Bible. To me it just seems like Schuyler tried too hard to tick as many boxes as possible and missed the mark. But the missus likes it lots.

  • @blainvance409

I really like the Cambridge Cameo text Large Print I own, but the erratic spacing between words in the Cambridge bibles bothers me. Also verse number size is a bit funky. Yes its readable, but I wont buy another one. God's Word should be handled better than that. My Thomas Nelson Sovereign is very similar to the Canterbury text block. My next Bible will be a Schuyler I hope.
