    There is a story I have read about this particular recording: Panditji arrived at the recording studio in the evening to record Gaud Sarang. Many singers including Pt. Kumar Gandharva and Sudhir Phadke had gathered at the studio. But for some reason, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi could not get in to the right mood and was struggling to perfect the notes. Soon the other artists left and around mid night, Panditji got in to the mood and finally recorded Gaud Sarang. When it was played back, he was so happy with the outcome, he went on to record many other Ragas such as Lalit Bhatiyar, Kalashri and Durga and it went on till 7:00 am in the morning. Each of these turned out to be master pieces!

    Best Gaud Sarang rendition ever! Even his other renditions of this raga takes one’s attention to its complex movement but this one is all about pure bliss and the incredible sweetness of the raag! ❤

      @@Little_Thing_Speaks Difficult to disagree. :)
      However Dattatreya Vishnu Paluskar's 200 seconds nugget, to me, resides in an ethereal world.
      Kishore Amonkar's studio recording of the mid 90-s (Tips Music, I think) is very compelling as well.

    I believe on the other side of this LP is Panditji’s Brindabani Sarang with the famous drut bandish “Jaun mein tope balihari”.

    Very nice recording. The drut bandish "Piya najar nahi aaunga" starts at 14:40

    • @ArchismanMozumder
      @ArchismanMozumder  2 года назад +9

      The drut bandish starts with the words 'veya nazar nahi aaynda' .
      I have also felt that these 20-odd minute recordings provide greater listening pleasure when heard in its entirety. The drut portions attain completeness only after the structure of a raag is established via the aalaap & madhyalay-gat.
