So you "damn it" section is just the most relatable thing ever! Your patience and dedication to detail work are fabulous. I hope your partner recovers quickly and has the opportunity to wear this lovely cape!
Yay for cape! And I’m glad partner is feeling better, and I hope he’s still able to use the cape even if he missed the intended event. And yes to all the witchy vibes from that mug!
Thank you! I am feeling much better. I'm planning to wear the cape and the gorgeous embroidered shirt that OE made for me next month at our kingdom's coronation event. :)
""It turns out I did not account for gravity" is my favourite line of the day. And the shot when you said that is marvellous! We should bring back half capes. Such a statement piece. And it swirls! I like the across one shoulder-look. Did Tornado film the moving reveal shots? If so, tell them I liked their camera work. I always forget most people live south of me... until I get slapped in the face with a shot of trees with green leaves. In december! (Exclamaition mark signifying amusement.) It's snowing here. I also got a bunch of good sewing tips when watching this, so this was both informative as well as entertaining (and the garment pretty) to watch. I feel like I learn so much from just seeing the small little details of how people handle their sewing projects and it gives so much more insight than just written instructions over what to do, where there are no clues as to how people practically handle the fabric or the needle etc.
It’s relevant in many areas of my life (I always have mystery bruises). And yes, they did direct and film the reveal! I’m going to make them use a gimbal next time though, some of the shots were too shaky to be saved in post.
Has it only been two years? It feels like longer haha The trick for pinning the fabric without crushing the embroidery is great 👀 I'm taking notes. Also I'm really sorry your partner couldn't go to his event :( it's such a magnificent cape, too.
Oh my goodness, that gold fabric is beautiful! And the finished cape is gorgeous, so swooshy and fancy. I hope partner is well and truly recovered by now! Spouse and I both struggled with food when we lost our smell and taste thanks to Covid, it was amazing how disconcerting it was. We both found the fatigue really lingered too, so I hope partner is able to take it gently for a bit 💜
Yeah, he lost a borderline-concerning amount of weight in a week because nothing was appetizing. Luckily it only lasted about that long and he can taste things again
Just about to make some overly sweet hot chocolate coffee. That cape is _absolutely_ beautiful. It's something that will get allot of use, I have no doubt. I hope your partner is feeling better soon and the side effects of Covid don't last too, too long. _Tip to make your blades last longer_ - Tin foil. In your case for the scalpel, I'd try making a finger sized sausage of tinfoil. Repeatedly cut into the tin foil until you have enough tinsel for all... For scissors you use a sheet of foil repeatedly folded closed until there are several layers... For round blades you roll up a ball of foil... rinse and repeat. It doesn't replace getting your scissors sharpened, but it does extend the life a bit. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Sooooo gorgeous! And I love it worn off one shoulder like you have it at the end. 😍 I haven’t had much interest in dressing from this era, but seeing you in that masculine kit has me intrigued. So glad to hear partner is doing better as well!
Love the cape! A trick I learned for dealing with stretchy/slippery fabric is to line it with iron on interfacing. Yes, it can be a lot of work if the item is big, but oh so worth it. It keeps the bias stretch under control, and avoids some of the strife.
Oof; I do not have enough interfacing to like cover 20 square feet. How has interfacing like that affected drape for you? Id be worried it would be substantially stiffer.
@@OpusElenae Yes, it is a lot of interfacing. However, the difference in sag can be an issue all on it's own over time. I had a skirt that just kept stretching, and stretching... If you get the very light interfacing, it usually doesn't affect the drape. Bias on fabric is such a pain.
loving the tea series. You seemed to really be enjoying this one (I mean after you pinned ripped and trimmed the hem) Also will be using that 'wrap frame in flannel and pin technique' Sorry about the folks that don't understand how science informs public health measures caused Partner to miss the big event...
That's fabulous! Bias dropping is a PITA (recently made my first coat, pre-hemmed the lining instead of trying to wrangle it all in one with the coat. It dropped 2" on the sides. Sigh).
Thank you for this video, it will be very useful to me and it seems to be very clear! Maybe because of my English, I didn't get it or I didn't understand, but how many meters of fabric did you use?

He is much improved, thank you! He plans to wear it to Coronation next month.
While it sucks that you had to redo the hem..... your Damnit section header killed me lmao. Perfection!
I am sorry that your partner got sick…but seeing you frolic around a park dressed so fabulously was a great serotonin boost for me
I was gonna do it in front of the fence in the back yard but my camera-tornado insisted we go to the park for the ✨aesthetic✨
@@OpusElenae I think it was a wonderful idea that was fantastically executed

@@aldendrake9797 My first thought when I saw that cape was how gorgeous it would be with that shirt! You’ll look wonderful for coronation.

I have… so many capes. So many.
Cape turned out awesome! I hope your partner will have plenty opportunities to wear it in the future!

Came for the Cape, Nicely done. But there is a TAK board behind you! Woot!

November 2019 was my first upload, but I had a period where I didn’t have a consistent schedule. It is closer to three though, you’re right.

Unrelated to the amazing cape, I love your sparkly steering wheel cover!
It’s how I tell my car apart from others lol
It turned out beautifully.
Thank you!
That looks amazing. So luxurious.
It is LUSH
Ah, it looks great! Loved the gold work. What a bummer your partner got sick, though. 😔

Well, aside from the gravity, I can say that this was a fairy easy and straightforward project. Highly recommend.

Coronation in January is the plan!
I'm sorry your partner didn't get to go to his big event u_u But it's a very beautiful cape! Really enjoyed you making process while spinning :D
Just keep thinking of that scene in Pocahontas "See how I glitter"
You look rather dashing.
Why thank you! After a couple drinks, I’ll also accept “rakish” ;)
This comment is late to the video but thay home made(?) Embroidery set up with the pvc pipe is So Smart like damn

I didn’t say because body measurements and fabric width are both variable, but it was about 2 yards, so just under 2 meters
SWOOSH!
