    This is the best cover of such a great John Martyn song......John would be so happy that you but your own spin on it. You've got a very distinct voice and the false setto at the end ....cool man.

    Enfin une superbe version de Solid Air. Elle reste dans l'esprit de l'original, mais Alexander y apporte sa personnalité aussi bien vocale que guitaristique. Chapeau l'artiste 🎩 !
    Pourquoi porter un casque ? Peur d'une avalanche de notes de musique !!! 😎.

    My favourite John Martyn song, and one I try to play myself, but wow, you have nailed it in a superb and unique way. I always say covers should never try to replicate the original, but should contain your own feel and interpretation, and you have done it in spade loads. Wonderful. Making me feel very happy here.

    • @alexandersmusic2560
      @alexandersmusic2560  4 года назад

      Definitely one of my favorites too! I always try and cover songs in my own way because what's the fun of trying to copy it beat for beat? I like to see covers more like tributes to great songs rather then just trying to duplicate them, it's more entertaining on my behalf haha. But thank you so much, I seriously appreciated the kind words friend :)

    Great interpretation,the effort you have put into developing the chord/ melody riffs really paid off. Your vocals expressed the lyrics clearly and with emotion, and in my view could have been how the younger John Martyn may well have created the song before he applied his vocal 'slur ' style in the recording and stage performance. Thanks and keep up the good work.

      Thanks man that's really kind of you :) I was originally going to attempt the vocal slur but I thought I should push it more into my own personal style :) Much appreicated friend :)

    This is really nice, there are videos on you tube that say this song is all about the Tuning, that’s only part of the story and you do a good job on the right hand, I’m finding it really tricky! Well done

    • @alexandersmusic2560
      @alexandersmusic2560  3 года назад

      It's an open tuning which was great because I got to spend more time on the right hand trying to make it sound more interesting if it's gunna last 8 min, but I used some techniques of John Martyns "May You Never" which helped a lot and a fair slice of improv, I've never manged to play this the same way twice haha. I suggest just tyring to strum along with it and try and build on it from there, that's what I did :) Thanks for the kind words though friend
      PS: this is video I watched if it helps:)

    Excellent rendition of a great song. I love how you stylized it and created something new.
    I love to the reggae-ish rhythm you use. A friend suggested I learn the tune and I was struggling. Your version is an inspiration. Brilliant guitar and very nice vocal. Thank you.

      Thanks man! if I'm honest I was flying by the seat of my pants, I was even reading the lyrics as I recorded this haha. All I can suggest is use the tuning 1st to 6th string - D, A#, F, D#, G, C. It's already a beautiful open tuning and the rest of the chords are just one finger bared (5th and 6th fret I think) and just improvise and make it your own. But thanks for the kind words, honestly means the world:)

    Watching this again after i liked it first time a few months ago Alexander. I kinda learnt to play this in standard tuning from a JM book (nowhere near as good a player as you!) and now trying to re-learn with the proper tuning which im not finding as easy. Your guitar and voice sound great and really like your version of this epic tune.

      Thanks for the kind words friend! I was never too fond of this looking back now but it's still great fun to play, just keep the work up and make sure to add your own style into it to really make it your own, I wish you good luck with it:) Thanks again, it's really appreicated!

      @alexandersmusic2560  3 года назад

      Thanks man I seriously appreciate it! My Tuning is:
      1st - D
      2nd - A#
      3rd - F
      4th - D#
      5th - G
      6th - C
      Every sting is tuned down apart from the 4th which is tuned up to D. With that you'll have a beautiful open chord :)

    Hello Alexander! you are too humble ;) this is more than just an attempt ;) I am just trying since this morning to cover this song.. and my voice is far from reaching the high notes , seems that this is not a problem for you ;) Nice guitar playing too, really! so, for me that was a perfect cover, in the way that you made it yours.. your 20th attempt was a great one ! :) thanks for sharing it! Bravo

      With practice you can get there man, but if you can't maybe drop the tuning a little bit? That's what I always do haha but Thanks for the kindness, I was really unsure about this cover at first but that means a lot thank :)
