“People can’t get enough of this brand” All of RUclips: “Never heard of it, not paying $200 for jeans either” That’s when you know this is just a fancy paid commercial
You pay for the brand. Before Carters Infant & Children's wear was shipped to China, I worked in one of their factories. They didn't call us experts. LOL! We also made Kmart brand in the same factory, same machines, same workers. They were just as strict with quality with Kmart's as they were with Carters, you couldn't tell the difference until the label was sewn on. When they were closing the factory, we were told if we didn't miss any time off from work, unless we had a broken leg or something like that, until the close date we would get a bonus, I don't remember the amount but it was a lot. My 9 yr old son was shot in the chest with a BB gun. The BB is still in his heart sack & he can feel it move when he coughs. Anyway he was in the ICU for several days, I didn't get my bonus. I was told that if he had died then I would have got it. If that's not BS, I don't know what is. I had worked for them for 5 years, I worked overtime, even on Saturdays & Sundays when they needed me too. I will never buy anything made by Carters again. (Oh, I also sewed some Baby Dior, $50 shorts for babies, in 1983, same quality as the rest of the brands we made.)
wow thanks for sharing, this is very insightful. im studying denim specifically jeans. I didnt even know they use laser to apply the aging/fading effect. i always thought it was handmade. What other high end brands did you sew/make as well?
Just wear them. It's just artificially aging them. Your jeans will eventually fade and wear like that. Darker denim and raw denim will give better fades. If you're young, you're probably outgrowing your jeans before they can fade. Try buying some used jeans from a thrift shop.
A lot of people are too used to buy cheap crap that is essentially subsidised by exploitation of low wage workers and the environmental destruction. Now we've come to a point where paying 200 for a single pair of jeans that could last a life time is too much
@Joe Figueroa $20 isn't the true cost of jeans though. That's a heavily subsidized price due what is likely very cheap if not slave wage labour and potential heavy environment destruction depending on the production. And simply having something expensive mean its good isn't true nor did I say that. You can hop into Guess and buy expensive jeans, but they won't be worth it in terms of quality.
