I agree. I play basketball outdoors all the time, they are very good. I twisted my ankle multiple times before, and these shoes really compforted my heel and ankle.
4:18 the heel in the NXXT is top loaded zoom as opposed to bottom loaded in the 20, that likely made more of a difference than the shank plate position as the zoom air's redistribution of energy is more focussed when bottom loaded
@@SLAPTALK right they're continuing the kobe line through the lebrons cuz anything lebron is outlet🗑️ until now that they made the kobe 12s and this kobe 13s🤣😭😂
sphere also allows the foam to move into negative space rather than compress into itself until it bottoms out. it allows a foam to feel softer and more conforming than if it were just a single solid chunk of material. I remember they did something similar on the Air Trainer SC 2010 reboot and it was great. Of course, it costs more to punch a bunch of holes in the foam before punching it through a die and shoving it in the upper, so the tech disappeared for about 10 years.
Just the best shoe. I'm 46 and start playing again.....This shoe is incredible, also my first low. I was always wearing high boots and at my first time as older I tryied low. Excellent stability and ankle support.
Great breakdown and I ordered mine yesterday. Looking forward to seeing how they perform. Keep putting out that quality content. Looking forward to seeing your review on Kawhi’s latest shoe.
Quickly becoming one of my fav shoes to ball in. Light but sturdy and traction is prob the most standout feature. Comfort is good but time will tell if that holds or bottoms out. I do wish there were more colorways but decent start to this line.
These are good shoes. Comfort, lockdown, and cushion are topnotch. Not the speediest shoe as Zach said but good enough. Issue is the outsole as some mentioned. Picked up tons of dirt and crap on the court where I kept sliding a few times and didn’t feel comfortable making fast cuts. You will have to constantly wipe clean or just play on clean courts. Real bummer but overall like them
I disagree with ratings on speed for the not translucent outsole they are a 4/5 (only the 20s and two wxy v3s were better in my experience) and comfort for me is easily a 5/5. the step in comfort and the soft materials make your feet feel like in a glove its a super comfortable shoe. Also durability is awesome played in them twice a week for 5 months now on indoor courts and they show no sign of wear. The top loaded zoom unit in the heel helps a lot with durability since they prevent the phylon base layer from bottoming out like in the 20s. You can tell the difference over time still both are great shoes, but for me the nxxt gen is more like a 34-35/40. Bounce is awesome on this shoe too, cant say the 20s are any better. ✌️
This shoe legit fit like a glove for me, the traction of these shoes were sooooo insane I thought I had the best traction in the KD 14, but these topped them I loved everything about the NXXT, the KD14 for me was too much zoom, which is odd to say, but the NXXt is god tier, the traction was sticky, if I could only have one shoe to hoop in for the rest of my life it is this one, really hope they make some more colorways, because I will buy again.
Dr Zach, I have flat and painful arches. Outflared feet with a 2E width. Painful heel too. What are your recommendations for everyday use and basketball(mostly indoor).

I'm wondering if they're too small. On the website I see it says “Fits small; we recommend ordering a half size up”. Who has had experience with these sneakers, can you tell me if it is worth ordering a half size up?
I wear size 11 nike because the space in the toe length is right but in the next gen when i wear the size 11 my toes feel kinda snug and my toes kinda stick out on the side, is it too narrow for me?
My local outlets have them discounted so bought a pair to try. The heel area does not handle shocks well and it hurts my tendons. I think this review is very on point that it's not for someone with high arch and plantar faciitis. The stock insole is very minimal and I‘ll need to try a second time with orthotics. Glad I sized up half for that room.
Great review Zach...I always come to your channel first when thinking of new hoop shoes. I'm thinking of these or the Jordan 37 lows. I love my 36's zoom air cushion in forefoot and heal for my old knees but looking for a low top. I need support and cushion. I play PF and love to rebound. Would you recommend these or the 37 low?
Great in depth review! I sent my LeBron 20s back as I didn't feel they were a $200 shoe personally. They made my plantar fasciitis worse just walking around the house. But I will give these a try when they hit under MSRP.
Hey Doc, Lebron hurt his foot in the NXXT. The shoe twist with the weak plastic shank as opposed to the XX which has a strong carbon fiber shank. THOUGHTS?
ja 1 or nxxt gen? Need very light shoes with awesome traction (182cm, 75kg) Start training to improve my vertical, so if shoes are jumpy, it’s great, but main options are traction, light weight and court feel. Which kicks (ja or nxxt) better for that options?
I have one, they felt like they were made for this generation of shooters. Non power house players like Vince Carter, MJ, and Garnet. It was built for comfort and playing longevity.
Great review as always. I’m really looking forward to a review of the Fresh Foam BBs, Fresh Foam X is my favorite cushion, hopefully the shoe around it is great.
KD trey 5 have been my go to for the past couple weeks but unfortunately I caught a mean bruise on my heel as well as pain in my hip but I got these for 60$ on sale and i have to agree that shock absorption is phenomenal. Though I definitely feel the lack of stop and go compared to the treys but it’s been a good feel under feet. Not so much on the top of the ankle
Question not heard in the video. Are they as tight and snug in the forefoot and front of the shoe as regular Lebron 20’s because those fit small fit too snug for me for sure even after 10-15 professional basketball practices.
Hey i had the same problem and just got the next gens only half a size up, and they’re kinda too Big. So i would say go with the same size cause i think it is bigger than the 20s. (I lost both my nails by them btw!)
If the bounce height test measures a larger number, would it be safe to assume that the shoe actually has poor impact protection since the energy is reverberating back up your feet/legs? Where a shoe with better impact protection would theoretically measure smaller since the impact force is being absorbed and not returning the energy back? I could be totally off base here but would love to know your thoughts.

@footdoctorzach ... love this breakdown! My son has flexible flat feet and a bunion. Do you think there is room in this shoe for someone with this and or wide feet? He loves all the narrow shoes and they just do not fit well. Thanks!
I'm 40 and have flat feet with a bunion on my left foot well on both but left foot more pronounced. I have the nxxt gens and on my left foot the shoe or maybe its my sock seam rides under my big toe no matter how many times you try to straighten the sock it goes that direction. It feels like a rock pebble or something on that side because of the snugness these shoes give. I'm getting used to it by now but it's something to consider. Right foot is fine and the shoe feels awesome on foot. Still love these shoes but I'm old school and to me the comfort is better in the 90's style toe boxes. They seem more forgiving. I have the Fila Mashburns and the Jordan 13's they work well for my feet
Love the reviews. Question i'm hoping to get answered - As someone that plays a lot of padel i tend to watch your reviews regarding tennis shoes mostly, however the basketball shoes are intriguing because movements in padel require a lot of jumping and shuffling of feet in general, things basketball shoes do well. I often find the cushioning in basketball shoes good whilst lackluster in tennis/padel shoes. Is there no good way to integrate more cushioning into tennis shoes without losing stability? well, it is just out of my curiosity but i just want to ask you how many points in the universal ratings system would you give lebron 20 ? tks a whole bunch
Would you say the base is wider than the 20? I feel like the only reason why I wasn't able to go with the 20s is due to the lack of width (with me being a flat footer.)
The width of the foot bed is probably the same width as the LeBron 20's. BUT, I found these to be way more comfortable than the LeBron 20's. The knit material on the 20's really chokes my foot. I'm also on the slightly wide foot too. And these NXXT version were wayyyyyy better! Hope this info is of some use to you
Any way you can do some content on bottom vs top loaded shank plates? I bought the lebron 20 and the pg 6 for my bball shoe. I had to return the lebron 20 because of arch pain. Is it because of the shank plate system?
