Celestial! I sang this when younger (now 65 (perhaps not like this!)) . To be immersed in a skilled choir, singing music this divine, is truly transporting. God bless you all.
This is the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard in my life. In the last seconds of my time here of my life, I want to hear this before I take my long journey. ✌
I’ve heard many versions of this sublime piece. This one is my favorite-with sections completed with one easy breath, all sung together in tune, and a wonderful interpretation of the text. Even as I jog, my little heart is filled with joy.
It is such a privilege to listen to this amazing choir. I have been fortunate enough to have seen them live at Evensong services several times, and it is always a joy. Thank you for sharing this video!
By God's Grace, Durufle somehow brought the sounds of Heaven to earth so that we here on earth can offer them as a prayer to Our Father in Heaven. May Maurice rest in Peace 👑✝️🕊️🙏🎶
I’ve heard many versions odiferous this sublime piece. This one is my favorite-with sections completed with one easy breath, all sung together in tune, and a wonderful interpretation of the text. Even as I jog, my little heart is filled with joy.
Would it surprise you to learn that over the years a few of the Choral scholars (the university students who sing bass, tenor , baritone and counter-tenor) in the row behind the boys come from Roman Catholic backgrounds? The singing of both Holy Eucharist and Evensong under the Book of Common prayer does not present some major theological issue particularly since there is an Anglican style service approved by Rome. It uses much of the same structure as the Prayer Book for Evensong.
I truly believe that King's College Choir is a direct link between God and man. Not an exaggeration, not hyperbole. Many people throughout the years have felt it. God makes some people temporary angels and those involved with this choir certainly are just that -- temporary angels. Just as there is undeniable evil in the world there is undeniable good, and King's College Choir is simply, good. May God bless them all.
1 Corinthians 2:9 King James Version 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
This is a lovely piece and not very easy. I'll be singing it with a church choir at a friend's funeral. Even though it is in Latin, it'll be tough to get through. These children make it sound effortless, though. I'll have to channel them as I sing it for inspiration.
NoobifiedSpartan It takes many years to become a skilled choir singer. A good and well practiced choir doesn't need much time for a relatively short piece like this one.
What Lisa and Teddy said, and an illustration: We don't yet have the music to this (Jan 2019) and the concert is on Palm Sunday (Apr 14, 2019) Concert also includes Durufle's Requiem, Canticle de Jean Racine and Tantum Ergo.

I entirely agree with your sentiment regarding the tempo of this performance. Very well sung, but too rushed - this is luscious, languorous music which needs to be given lots of time to breathe!
Good to know that I'm not the only one who found this to be faster than optimum. It needs to breathe and grow. The voices are beautiful, John Rutter is an excellent director... but it needs to slow down.
I think Durufle aimed for a twilight/vespers aura in this piece. The voices beautifully express Durufle's harmones but they lose the aura with this tempo. (48 would be better than 60). The melody in Gjielo's andante is an interpretation of a slower Durufle setting.
The boys are great but the choral scholars are (almost) all college undergraduates and year after year they come out with a world class ensemble that has significantly different personnel and a huge repertory to learn and perform (they sing 7-8 services a week I believe).
This is an exquisite piece of music, but I find the tempo a bit too hurried. I prefer the recording made by the Cambridge Singers under the direction of John Rutter.
Where’s the fire! Tempo is overly aggressive for this piece. Bring it down, take a breath and let us relish the ins and out of this challenge and the beautiful voices of King’s College.
I can't believe how beautiful this song is
Sang this at a wedding yesterday. Beautiful church, beautiful couple, beautiful day. Deo gratias.

Calvin Hobbes you're 65?
Yep
This is a much more modern composition by durufle

Well, listen to Ola Gjeilo's UBI CARITAS .........maybe you change your mind
@Paolo Caldini Nothing wrong with boys and girls, men and women ! It's just the composition, which you like or not
I guess Im kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
@Anders Milan Flixportal
@Bryan Josue thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it !

Sublime, thank you King's. RIP Sir Stephen.
Fast pace, but the intimacy of the superb voices overcome the tendency to go to fast and drain feeling. Lovely, really.
This is heaven. I am a Catholic. But I love this choir
I'm Anglican and I like the Westminster Cathedral choir 🙏🎶
I'm catholic as well and my old parish would sing this song. Its one of my favorites

What does denominational boundaries have to do with the eternal in music? Music in my opinion transgresses that as God is eternity.

Beautiful ... I love listening to Duruflé: Ubi caritas and sung by this choir is most enjoyed. Thank you. Mel

MASTERPIECE! I was also lucky enough to perform it once during a celebration!
Thank you for publishing this video. This is a magnificent piece, sung by angels.
I sang this ever year at St James', Spanish Place, one of the best pieces ever composed!

Превосходно!
La cantaré próximamente en una boda, es hermosa🙏🏻
It's truly magnificent how well these people can sing. It must take months of practice.
More like years. Rehearsing the pieces won't take long once you are trained.

Glorious.
Bravi tutti 👏👏👏
Happy Easter 🐣🎊
Я готова слушать такое вечно😍
I find this version rather too fast! We sing it a little slower in our Parish Choir and it sounds less 'rushed'. Lovely piece to sing.

Agreed. Why so fast? Especially the "sincero" needs to be milked :)

Wonderful🎉
super!!!
To me; "Caritas" means "I Love You" in Latin.
Car/Cor = Love
I = I
Tas = You
Listening to this after hearing of Queen Elizabeth's passing. 9-8-2022
I sang it in choir

Yes, it’s too fast.
Regarding tempi in The Chapel, negative reverberation effects have to be considered, with the result that pieces are often sung faster.

PERFECT :))) is this catholic or high anglican choir?
Slavko Tonković high Anglican
Slavko Tonković catholic
Definitely Anglican - it's King's College Cambridge, in England.
Of Catholic origin..until one hyena head of a king in the 15th century who couldn't keep his cock in a place violently introduced church of England.
Anglicanism is a restoration of true Catholic spirituality. So it is both Anglican & Catholic.
Traditional catholic
Yes. Indeed.
STAIRWELL Kings Return from Twitter brought me here
Has somebody got a train to catch ????
Yes the tempo is little too pacey for me. The current Director of Music Daniel Hyde would approach this very differently.
Where is this?
You cant feel when its rushed
This is an exquisite piece of music, but I find the tempo a bit too hurried. I prefer the recording made by the Cambridge Singers under the direction of John Rutter.
Beautiful voice but I find this performance a little rushed. First heard it at York Minister when a student. I was transfixed.

Too fast.
Perfect tempo. Not meant to be slower
Belle voci....ma poco musicale. ......troppo metronomo. ...manca il mistero. ........
Ungodly incorrect tempo. Just awful.
