You're right, hell is a horrifying concept. But keep asking questions and you'll find answers. Many religions teach hell is a place of eternal fire that punishes the wicked, but that isn't what the Bible teaches. The original words translated as "hell" from hebrew "Sheol" and Greek "Hades" are just referring to "the Grave." If the punishment for sin is death, why would anyone be punished in hell afterwards? Happy Sunday friend! While many gather and discuss and hope for the return of Jesus, we instead joyfully hope and dream of Jesus finally fucking leaving.
A well-spoken man. Cruelty often means unjust pain it can mean simply pain. I think he is wrong, and it is based on thinking there is real injustice in the world. If by cruel we just mean pain, we seem to have no grounds to say you ought not. In the pursuit of the destruction of religion, much pain was caused by fear of religion. Writting in 1927, he should and likaly did know this and has a much more measured and less rhetorically based view than the one from Voltaire. If we wish to rid fear of pain from humans, Stoicism and a lack of a tender heart seem the way. Compassion is the way of following good will into suffering. Cruelty doesn't seem to come from the structure of society but from the people in it. Hand in hand doesn't show if it is corellated or caused. If there is no binding to God in dark times, the will can break more easily than in those with a deep love that die rather than participate.

The WEF uses climate change as a reason to force bugs as a normal diet, as well as other crimes.
Taxpayers foot the bill , as the political class robs the Treasury or uses it to gain personal wealth, with no accountability.
What other hope does one have, other than to believe in God? Can they find relief in a Kim Jong Un? Maybe, they can find mercy, for a while, if they become a short term concubine.
Russell argued for a "scientific society", where war would be abolished, population growth would be limited, and prosperity would be shared.[157] He suggested the establishment of a "single supreme world government" able to enforce peace,[158] claiming that "the only thing that will redeem mankind is co-operation
I agree pretty much with this. Religion is born out of ignorance and only hurting humanity.
Yep, the lockdowns it caused. Divided people. Damaged the economy. People blindly listened to its leaders. And the multiple shots, don't get me started.
Oh, I thought you typed "COVID Protocols. " The thing that was ACTUALLY born out of ignorance and hurt humanity.
You sure you didn't mean covid or something else. Cause saying that about religion is disingenuous.
Any God that wants me to fear it's love and thank it's wrath isn't worth my time or attention
❤
Possibly the most important thing my dad did ,apart from the obvious, pointing me to Bertrand Russell .
100%
As a young maths major in the 90s i had no idea anyone outside our academic circle would ever really have acess to Russel talk. Very very cool video but im already starting to hate YT shorts
Brilliant 👍🏻
he’d be ecstatic to see statistics about religious belief today.
I'm going to have nightmares about that animation of Bertrand Russell.
lol this channel is becoming so pro
I like this a lot. Please do H.L. Mencken next.
Me too
Rational thinking alone isn’t enough
LORD Bertrand Russel
Royalty belongs in the same dumpster as religion.
Amen Mr Russell ;)
The message is, don't trust or believe anyone you should fear, especially if it's a God!
It's sad that anti-theism has acquired such a bad name in the last few years. Because every theist (or at least the most vocal ones) are all vehemently anti-atheist and that's considered just fine. But when it's turned around, suddenly it's bigoted and hateful. I firmly believe that the modern world would be a better place without organized religion. I know it's not going to happen soon, maybe ever. That does not make me a bigot or wish to infringe on others rights. It's as well rationalized as wishing that there were no more misogyny.
I'm kinda biased to think that any popular or convincing religion will organise itself at some point, it's in our nature to accommodate to a social phenomena to rise our chances of surviving
@@DarthVaderfr Oh, unquestionably. That doesn't mean it's a good thing, especially as the criteria for survival in much of the world no longer even vaguely resembles what the conditions were when we evolved the brain we have. As an example zenophobia is a great trait to have if you are a homo erectus dealing with warring tribes, limited resources, untreatable disease and harsh conditions. Doesn't mean it's a valuable trait for homo sapiens in the 21st century.
@@CorwinFound it is up to the person to be able to recognize the flaws in our brains and take steps to counter that. It is unfortunate though that so few people ever desire to reflect on any of their thoughts and actions and continue believing in harmful ideologies promoting hatred, fear, and ignorance.
Yeah I very often think about this. There is a very small part of me that is afraid every now and then. What if there is something on the other side? But it never convinced me that there's a god. The moment you start to think about it logically you very soon realize that his existence is very unlikely and even if he exists, the world is so fucked up, cruel and violent. Why should I respect him for creating it?
Nice to see Russell doing public appearances again, I was wondering whatever happened to him.
Sir, may I ask you the name of the software used to produce so nice Bertrand Russel video art?
Who is doing this amazing background artworks, production... maximum effect 🎉
religious people have good side and a dark side that must be acknowledged.
I love this!!
Happy Sunday friend! While many gather and discuss and hope for the return of Jesus, we instead joyfully hope and dream of Jesus finally fucking leaving.

Unfortunately, the Enlightenment cannot enlighten us about death. That's why religion won't die out any time soon.
1. John 4:8
All that's really needed here is the mandate to be real in our words and actions. There isnt time to think about another life with this on our plates.
The abuse of religion does not make religion bad. You still have to explain religion away, regardless of how people have misused it.
Short and yet so much content.
Find Jesus!

I stopped once I heard "religion is based", and decided to take a leaf out of RRs playbook. I'm now going to take Bertrand out of context as having claimed that "religion is based", and not bother watching the rest of RRs video, or respond to his actual points! Thanks for the tips on how to be intellectually honest, RR!
Let's Hope so .... In doing so we can finally reach enlightenment. And not Leave everything up to Holy book. That man kind. Has for so many years struggle to understand basic concepts that have existed for thousands of years in Buddhist temples is No surprised 🙀
Buddhism is garbage. prove me wrong
It's 1927! 🤣 100 years later "science" hasn't fixed "fear of death". And atheism itself hasn't fixed the tide of hopelessness and mental illness among the irreligious.
