My Father was a Cropduster in Dimmitt Tx from 1975 to 2001. He Owned Dimmitt Aerial Spray. He flew everything. Right Before Retirement he worked for Hal Weatherly. He was selling planes and making some changes to the plane. One was the step up to the wing. Hal hated it and called it an old man step but most everyone else loved it. He started taking orders for different colors which also Hal didn't like but it sold planes. One of the best was a green and blue order. My dad finally retired and left it to the younger people. He sprayed with everything from Cubs, Pawnee, Ag-cat, Air Tractors radial and turbo, Thrush and the huge Dromairde. I love your videos.... Takes me way back to my younger years working in the ag industry.
Love round engines!! That beauty reminds me of a Dromader. As I retired aircraft mechanic, I recall working on Dromaders, DC 3s, Otters, PBYs, and even a Cessna or two, LOL. Thanks for the video! ❤
Fun fact: In 1980 Weatherly built 2 PT6 powered airplanes. They were designated 620TP. I owned one of them. Flew it for 2 years. This was in the early 90's. Loved the little airplane. Would haul a full hopper just about anytime of the day.
No way! I know about both of those, and I think there is still one flying as of a few years ago. Would love to turbine swap one of these, it would be a workhorse!
Great question! You can fly with the doors off rather than open. You would only want to do this when doing some type of dry work such as seed or fertilizer. It can be hazardous if you’re spraying liquid and you have some type of malfunction in the equipment. There is a pretty good sized air vent in the airplane so it’s warm in there, but there is fresh air coming in as well!
@@FER11981 I’m not sure where the company is now. It was originally in So CA and moved to Lincoln CA in approx 1990 and then was purchased by Gary B around 2000 and moved sites and re started production at McClellan airfield near Sacramento for a couple years. Since then I believe it has moved out of state to either Nevada or Arizona. I do know of a Gloria that stayed with the company for several years after that and worked as a parts salesperson. However I have not made contact with her in about 5 years now and do not know where she is now. I will try to contact her somehow because she will know.

@@agpilotchick I know the one I had got destroyed in a crash in 1994. I didn't know if the other one was still flying or not.
Beaytiful
In the old days flow control was turn off every other nozzle or change the valve inside the each nozzle......Tech is great.
Really interesting, thank you.
Amazing piloting skills but any lower and don’t think you could call it flying, it would be driving. 😊
@4:38 what are the brackets on the wing?
Mounting brackets for a flagger system!
Thanks for the guided walk-around! Q: On the hot & humid days, can you fly with the doors open, or would that be a hazmat hazard?

Is Johnie still at it?
I wonder what the fuel consumption is on a plane like that I am thinking at least 60 gal hr. if not more.
It's around 28 ish gallons per hour, but can be more like 33 depending on what power you need to work a specific field.
@@agpilotchick thats a lot better tan I thought.
