Honestly, I hope it makes the snap devs to start treating the community with some damn respect and make gold worth it again or I am done spending money on Marvel snap and sinking that money into Pokémon pocket!
I mean Snap was always marketed specifically that you couldnt dump money in to get all the “best” cards so thats not all too surprising. Though lately it definitely feels like theyre slowly walking back on that lol.
@@ROFLWAFFLELAWL4 no it wasn’t lol the whole thing was that you can’t dump a whole bunch of money in it and buy all the cards complete opposite of what you said maybe now it’s more paid to win but not when it first came out and I’m not talking about Nexus events

One (1) Energy is generated automatically each turn in your "Energy Zone", depending on the pokemon in your deck. If you use trainer cards or tools to generate energy, that also goes into your "Energy Zone" to use. Smart move, something MagicTG should also consider!
‘membah when DC Dualforce was Snaps only competition? i ‘membah. Except the only thing it had in common was Superheroes. This looks to actually be closer to Snaps formula of quicker games. 20 card deck instead of the usual 60 in pokemon tcg. Wasn’t Yugioh Duel Links supposed to be a slimmed down version as well? Heck that was even before Snap too.
Yeah Duel Links was i think similar to Snap, not sure what ended up happening with that game but the more traditional yugioh master duel seems to be the more popular digital version of the game now. The DC stuff was funny bc it was really clear it was never meant to compete with Snap as a more traditional card game like HS or MTG, but people latched onto that bc of the classic DC vs Marvel rivalry. I'm excited to finally see some new development in this genre though, hope its good.
@@ZombiesGoNomNom yeah. Also Pokemon has TCG live as well which is their full digital game. So definitely curious as to which one will be more popular Pocket or Live.
Pokemon pocket being a stripped down version of the physical card game is fascinating. I get wanting to reuse designs from the physical card game but I wonder how well they'll translate to the new format.
Yeah I’m curious to see how it works out too, sounds like there will be a mix of previously in print cards as well as cards designed specifically for pocket
@@ZombiesGoNomNomthe auto generating energy has me really scratching my head. Energy cards (and lands in mtg) exist is so that even the best decks have some bad cards, which keeps each card draw feeling exciting. It'll do better only in so much as it's Pokémon. The VAST majority of Pokémon TCG owners are collectors, they don't even play the game. Frankly, the TCG isn't very fun IMO. So having a watered down version doesn't sound appealing to me to begin with and I ain't going to download it for a glorified digital card album either. The big issue I see is this is a 20 card deck system and you're going to want/need duplicates. You get only so many packs per day without ponying up the dough. People think Snap is bad getting a card you want? This game sounds like it'll be a nightmare until trading is eventually added to the game because it's not going to be there at launch. Not to mention cards are locked behind specific packs. So you need to open various packs, from the SAME SET, to get cards. So some you may need to get from one pack and some from another, so you're having to either double down or split your pack openings each day in hopes of snagging the card or getting enough of the pack points to trade in for the single you want.
I partly think you're kidding yourself if you honestly believe snap has no competition and if running solo in the mobile market. with that said honestly more kind of tcg games the better for players and market
In terms of fast paced mobile card games I can't say I've seen anything that is competing on that same level of snap in terms of popularity/financial success. If there are some examples that come to mind I'd love to hear to it, I'm far from an expert in the mobile space. But I'm specifically talking about card games and not mobile as a whole.

You guys act like its hard to get 2 copies of a card. Its not. And guess what, you can reroll your account if you must have certain cards. Pockets card acquisition is 100x better than snaps.
My take. Haven’t played this new one. Been there from day 1 of the original. Pokemon TCG was MTG clone designed by WotC. This iteration got simplified/streamlined HS style. And shorter thanks to Snap. Players can expect the final version of decks to be finely tuned ,well oiled machines. Think bit more Yugioh. Overall, it’ll be card game first, mobile game second. The opposite of Snap. Both will have audience. Again, all this is my assumptions from available data and personal history experience. As I used to sell Pokemon TCG, I have high hope they will get this right. They been at it long enough.
I see this as a casual collecting card with a side of card game. I dont see much more bones then that so I see no threat to Snap in all honestly. I think Snap probably thought they would be like this with their collecting but they have more bones with an actual card game. Will it entice the Pokemon base? Sure will just like all Pokemon product. But without the teeth of an actual game it is not the Snap killer.
I dont feel like MtG has anything to do with personal taste lol. I love MTG (have a ton of IRL cards and decks from Torment) but I also love Yugioh (well classic cards) and Pokemon /shrug.
Some food for thought: pokemon tcglive has no way to spend real money. The game is entirely funded by the pokemon IP. So, presumably, they can make this game so cheap that it won't even be in the same category as marvel snap in terms of their business model. But what really makes me feel like these two games won't be competing with each other directly is the lack of crossover between the fanbase of each of the IPs. There is some overlap, but not enough to steal away committed snap players in a way that will be felt economically. I could be wrong. But as far as i can tell, this game is as comparable to marvel snap as angry birds or candy crush. You can play them both on your phone for free. I definitely won't be downloading this game or watching any videos about it. And as my fav marvel snap youtuber, i hope this doesn't impact the frequency of your snap vids.
Pokemon tcg had an app, but it couldn't be played on a phone due to size..tablet only so Pokemon pocket looks like that same app, but now, for phones size So nothing new
Pokemon has a huge fan base (I love Pokemons) and the TcG has for sure many players and collectors, but it's a very weak game. A "simplified" version isn't for sure what I was looking for, but I can understand that for them recycling thousands of already available cards and at the same time advertising the full game is a perfect combo. PS: I don't see a real connection between this an Snap.
Snap is definitely casual. Extremely casual. The game is designed to make winning as inconsistent as possible while still giving the player a sense of control.
Can't do shit to Snap...the only thing it will do is divert more audience and players towards Snap I'm a Pokemon fan but as much as I saw its just bland and boring!
I doubt it's even close to a 'Snap killer'. The demographics are entirely different and a watered down Pokémon experience is still the Pokémon TCG at heart which isn't very engaging to begin with. All I can hope is the team caters a much more engaging meta than what the main game has. If it's going to be EX/GX/Mega/Max/etc being the most dominant cards and the majority of your packs being legitimate filler? Gunna be a big yikes, especially with packs being pretty piecemeal even when you DO pay for the pass.
Pokémon collection has limited interest. It is an anime and universe for kids. Marvel snap is so more for adult and the collection of all supervillains and superheroes is another level of design and mature.
It is fine if Snap has a competition, DC's card game came out as a flop. Ben Brode really find gold with Snap, at first I thought Marvel Snap has the 3 location which Artifact have but the gameplay of Hearthstone and Ben Brode simmers it down as fast as playing 1 poker hand, not to mention the mechanics of betting and raising as snap. I just hope Pokemon Pocket is kind of free, I hear from someone that it has subscription fee like WoW.
so far it seems similar to snap in that it is free to play, but there will also be a monthly pass for extra resources and cosmetics as well as general microtransactions for in game currency
