  • Being in running specialty, our insight on the products are a little different because not only do we RUN in the shoes, we also SELL these shoes to our customers. We thoroughly fit people for shoes. So instead of having one person's feedback it's kind of like speaking for a community of people who were all interested in the same shoe. Good and bad feedback, we tell it all!
What shoe should we do next?

Got the Clifton 8. It's in the rotation w/ the More 3 and Wave Sky 4. Bondi 6, Invincible Run, and Nimbus 24 are out.

Thanks for explaining where the weight difference come from in the women's version! I really love the new heal shape from Clifton 7, so excited Hoka is continuing that. I've heard a shoe designer say that women sometimes need a narrower heal cup and that shape seems to fit my heals just right.

    #1
I could be wrong but at 1:04 in video, looks like you got stack heights reverse.
    26.2 heel
    32.6 forefoot
Am I wrong or is this typo. Not seen shoes with higher stack where forefoot is higher than heel...
At 1:42 seens you got it right.
    With Insole inserted
    36 heel
    30 forefoot
    #2
At 1:48 you started talking about high drop shoes...
You said 6mm drop & higher is considered high drop shoes & you said your store doesn't carry anything over 8mm drop.
I'm going check and see if you carry any of the following:
    Brooks Beast
    12mm drop
    30 heel
    12 forefoot
    Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21
    12 mm drop
    35 heel
    23 forefoot
    Brooks Addiction 14
    08 mm drop
    32 heel
    20 forefoot
    Brooks Glycerin 19
    10 mm drop
    36 heel
    26 forefoot
    Brooks Cascadia 15
    08 mm drop
    29 heel
    21 forefoot
    Brooks Cascadia 12
    10 mm drop
    27 heel
    17 forefoot
    Brooks Caldera 5
    04 mm drop
    39 heel
    35 forefoot
    Brooks Catamount
    06 mm drop
    32 heel
    26 forefoot
    Brooks Ghost
    12 mm drop
    35 heel
    23 forefoot
    I'm a heel striker...
Maybe I can learn to be midfoot, center of gravity striker...
Do you have any videos that show & talk about pros & cons of:
    Low & High Drops
How to become or Just Show & Talk about midfoot & forefoot striker...
Saw following in article from 2013 but lots changed since then so I don't know if numbers mentioned are same or similar...
I was taught to run on heel & roll through to push off on toes 🤔❓
About 80% of runners strike the ground with their heel first, termed "rearfoot running". Another 15% of runners strike the ground with their foot flat, termed "midfoot running". That leaves a very small group of "forefoot runners", who run on the balls of their feet.
I can definitely understand negative biomechanics of running long strides & landing on heel & because leg is straight, it's like jamming your heels, ankles, legs, knees & hips into ground...
I got away with it for so many, many, many years but it may be catching up with me...
    As always good review...
    Thanks for sharing...

So its way more responsive then the clifton 6? They were my first shoes where I felt this is too soft, I have to work harder to get moving. Thats why I stood away from the 7

    • @TheUltraRunningCompany
      @TheUltraRunningCompany  3 года назад +1

Yes - we sure think it is. They're still soft, but the feeling of rebound is noticeably better with this compound. Certainly worth a try if that was your issue before.

I run in the Clifton 6 and More 3. The More 3 completely knocked the Bondi 6 out of my rotation.

I've never had a running coach, but I feel 8 is max. ALTHOUGH, the Nimbus is 10. I got away from those for a long time, 'cause they got all wonky. The 22 was not too bad, and the 23 is supposed to be superdeeduper. Still 10mm drop.

Great. I took Clifton 8 today. Somehow I find it be a little tighter ( I'm currently running in Saucony Ride 15).
Is it normal or does it strech after few runs.

5:10 to 6:55 this guy sold the SH*T out of this shoe. Hoka needs to give him a seat on the board of directors. All the keys were hit. "We were shocked". "Pillowy". yet "Pop". It's there when you're drunk and falling left or falling right, and like a true friend, always brings you back to center.

We'll frame this one and pass it on! :) We'll try not to be as effusive in the future - it hurts our credibility when we say *too* many good things about a shoe (although this is a really solid version of the Clifton...).

I think the wider version of the shoe should be wider and the standard version should not get any more narrow than it is already.

Good review. Would you suggest it for a flat foot runner, using orthotics, thanks.

9:53 oh you consider size 13 a “human size foot” lol wtf?? You mean a beast size foot? While I agree 9 is below average, I would use 10.5 as a “human size foot”. 13 is ridiculous lol

    • @TheUltraRunningCompany
      @TheUltraRunningCompany  3 года назад +2

Ridiculous? YES. Nathan's feet are an abomination. He keeps saying they're normal, and we keep pushing back. But in the end, this is all his opinion, and we run with it. He's actually really heavy-handed behind the scenes, and we can't get him to just admit that having feet you can waterski is nuts. So with that said...run with us. Split the difference between his silly claims and the 9.5, and you're going to be pretty close to the relative weight of your 10.5s. We're trying to provide some perspective here - not the absolute answer. As he says at the end...: Learn To Love To Run! :)

You really need to watch your videos before you release them first you make the statement 26mm in heal then 30 something in the fore foot. You completely lost me with a absolutely garbage review.
