The SEC has one source of income (ESPN/ABC), not many markets that are either major markets, long established markets, or traditionally tied to the conference markets (Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, New Orleans, Nashville, Orlando, St. Louis, Tampa), and no clear top teams in the league as everyone had at least 2 losses by Championship Sunday.

Matt - I don’t think you get it. All most fans expect of the Ohio state head coach is to beat our rivals more often than not, win more than our fair share of conference chamionships because we have more than our fair share of talent, and then compete for national championships and win one every once in a while. Basically, to do what both Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer did. Ryan Day is a good football coach and seems to be an even better person, but with less talent at his disposal than that which is afforded to him at Ohio State (say at ND or PSU) he would be an also-ran.

If by “they” you mean Ryan Day and Chip Kelly, then I agree, because they likely would have then puckered in the playoffs. Michigan won't win another NC? I guess Paul missed the class Michigan has coming on, QB's and beat OSU at OSU then Alabma consecutively? Im a Miami fan and call it like I see it.
You can have the best players in college football and it doesn’t matter if you don’t have the right head coach. Look at Georgia, they regularly had top 2-3 recruiting classes and couldn’t win the big game until they got Coach Smart. Even then, it took him several seasons to get over the hump. Until last night, there were only two active college football head coaches with national championships and both have multiple championships. It’s very difficult to win a national championship at the college level.
We need to quit callig it "college football" and realize this payolla program has made it NFL pre-training camp. The players that jump from school to school have made the "mighty dollar" more important than the loyalty and pride that once drove teams to reach the top.
Paul actin like he didn’t trash OSU on numerous occasions. Just admit you were wrong dude. I’m an osu fan and I said Day needed to be gone after that loss. I was wrong. Glad I was

Alot of ppl believe if Ohio St beat TTUN, the final result would have been different. IMO Ohio St would have still coasted to this title. They would have still beat ORE in Indy, and & just like last night, they make it interesting.
These 2 SEC hacks can't help themselves. Now the game will be to just take cheap shots at the BIG 10 teams for paying players since they know the SEC is cooked and no longer has that as they're only advantage
I hate when College Football ends I feel like it takes forever to come back. Was so much better extending playoffs at least. Just think if they only picked 4 best teams like the past Ohio state wouldn’t even been in playoff. I hate Ohio state with passion but the changing to 12 team playoff is only right as the best team will automatically be in. There was always 5-6 best teams and 4 got in before this is great and makes a Natty way more rare to get now.
Ryan Day has climbed to the top of the mountain. Good for him. He should move on to the pros like Harbaugh. He will always have to deal with Michigan week which causes stress to his family. The National Title does not protect OSU coach's from getting the pink slip. Coach probably could bring a Super Bowl win to long suffering Browns fans. How ironic to do it with Kyle McCord at QB. Hopefully the Browns take him with their first pick in April. He's the real deal.
@@Downsdddgh Except for the fact that Kyle McCord was nowhere near a football field during the playoffs, and that Ryan Day is not going to the NFL, you make some good points.
@@selmer862 Why would Day stay and subject his family to the stress of the OSU coaching position? It's never going to be any different. They have let it be known they are having a hard time with it. Why wouldn't Day leave for a pro position? Or maybe he could leave OSU and sit out until Ferrentz retires from Iowa. There is 0 stress with that job. The fans are happy with 8 wins and a Bowl game. I don't want Day here if it means his family suffers. And me being a fan is responsible for that. I don't need that stress in my life. I prefer that Day leave.

What an idiotic statment Paul Finebaeum made about Michigan never holding a national championship trophy again, because Jim Harbaugh is gone. He shows his bias and hatred of either Jim Harbaugh or Michigan. There was no need to say something so stupid. NEVER is a long time. Of course Michigan will win another title there is no reason to say they NEVER WILL AGAIN. He was making sense until he couldn't help himself and say something absurd. You do't have to be a Michigan fan, but to say a Blue Blood who recently won a title and has a top 3 recruiting class coming in and perhaps the Deepest Pockets in FBS Football, is stupid to assume they will never win another title. Who could say Clemson, Florida State, Notre Dame, Miami, Texas, Bama, LSU, Florida, etc... NEVER is a loooong time. Dude keep your bias to yourself and try to sound like you know what you are talking about.
@ At least come up with an adult repsonse. What a stupid response. There is nothing truthful about his dumb comment unless he has a time machine and knows the future.
It will if he keeps winning playoff games and natty’s. Like Saban said, these rivalry games and even conference championships don’t mean as much any more. Just get in the CFP now that’s all that matters. I personally don’t care if they lose to them as long as they can win the natty. I’ll take that trade any day.
@fredericklockard3854 If they lose every game but beat Michigan to me that's a successful season. But I'm old and in the minority apparently. I remember Woody.
@ hey I’m old too 😂. But respectfully I disagree. It’s a new world where the CFP is what matters. As a consequence of that, rivalry games and even conference championships are not as important.
Harbaugh is gone and ? the sword of Damocles death penalty hangs over Michigans head , so i agree with Finebaum all that being said Michigan is still never going to be easy to beat , it being the biggest rivalry and something Michigan can hang their hats on even in a bad year .
What does the sky? Is the limit mean in regards to football? Or you're a point of view and does it really matter? We're talking about Notre Dame as if they actually won the game and they have a better program and next year. There's gonna be the top 3 teams in the nation. I mean, where do you get that from? Why am I even watching this channel?
Notre Dame got its brains beat out by a far superior OSU team. Congrats to Notre Dame for taking it as far as they could. Note - same result in a championship game as in the Brian Kelly era.
OSU was the best team this year, No question. The question I have is with the talent they had which was very plentiful do you need a great coach to win or would a so so coach be able to take that talent and win with it? Maybe win a title?
What so so coach gets his team to stay together and not throw his team under the bus? What so so coach gets the love that Day does from his own players and blocks the outside noise? Are you being serious?
The thing about Ryan Day though, is that he didn't have to build anything. He was handed a playoff-level program on a platter from Urban Meyer. Other coaches had to build their programs to be playoff level teams - Kirby Smart, Sark, Cignetti, Saban, Harbaugh, etc.
If Ryan Day won the title in 2019 or 2020 this would be true but there is no player for Ohio State left who played under Urban Meyer (unless there’s someone weird 7-year-senior)
Urban didn’t build ohio state. Ohio state was built by harley. Tressel brought us back from the damage cooper did and handed that to urban. Ohio state football was built long before urban.
Did anyone feign interest in even watching that game? The twelve team madness is just too controversial and too long. College football is starting to look like march madness. After a long and brutal season, it's very hard, if not impossible, to overcome injuries. Line-ups change and teams are limping at the end. Most of all, the average football fan is just over it.

I thought the goal was to win a NC.. just because TTUN won a game didn’t change the overall goal! OSU are the Champs.. TTUN ends un-ranked 🙄
Still beat you @@jonnyrock41
@@jonnyrock41 unranked who beat you 4 years in a row? You're still our b!+ch even with last nights win.
Michigan class sucks. They paid 10 million for 1 player
I think the SEC will be back but some of those schools need to invest in their school NIL collective.
We need to quit callig it "college football" and realize this payolla program has made it NFL pre-training camp. The players that jump from school to school have made the "mighty dollar" more important than the loyalty and pride that once drove teams to reach the top.
Garbage time, fluke penalties. Fluke turnover was 14 pts. OSU laid back on D. Mismatch.
PAUL YOU WERE THE WORST ON TV TALKING NEGATIVELY ON RYAN DAY!!!!!!! Own up
Is Ryan day a good coach or having the best 5 star players in the country on your team the reason he has 🏆
Paul actin like he didn’t trash OSU on numerous occasions. Just admit you were wrong dude. I’m an osu fan and I said Day needed to be gone after that loss. I was wrong. Glad I was
HAHAHA ichigan tell Dave Portnoy everyone knows the rules 1 bite of the OSU natty sandwich how doess it taste "I don't think Michigan will ever hold a national championship trophy again" - Finebaum
Alot of ppl believe if Ohio St beat TTUN, the final result would have been different. IMO Ohio St would have still coasted to this title. They would have still beat ORE in Indy, and & just like last night, they make it interesting.
Im pretty sure ND also had a blank check to.
Mr. McGoo. SEC will be back in a different form.
Buckeyes are National champs!!!!!!!
@@selmer862
Why would Day stay and subject his family to the stress of the OSU coaching position?
It's never going to be any different.
They have let it be known they are having a hard time with it.
Why wouldn't Day leave for a pro position?
Or maybe he could leave OSU and sit out until Ferrentz retires from Iowa.
There is 0 stress with that job.
The fans are happy with 8 wins and a Bowl game.
I don't want Day here if it means his family suffers.
And me being a fan is responsible for that.
I don't need that stress in my life.
I prefer that Day leave.
Back to the real world. The 4th richest man in the world, Ellison, actually did write Michigan a blank check.
@@johnchurch9351 How'd that work out for you?
vegas called in gave the kicker a bonus to miss the 2 field goal. i would've done it, what's my chances of playing in the nfl. would've been osu 16 to 13 wolverine or overtime.
Feinbaum. I just turn off every single channel he is on. Off. Sick of him. So pompous
🤓 don't cheat 🤓
Your butthurt because he tells the truth
No one likes a cheater
Paul meant that Michigan won't win until the sun burns out. If you can be patient for about 4.5 billion years, you may be right back in it.
@ At least come up with an adult repsonse. What a stupid response. There is nothing truthful about his dumb comment unless he has a time machine and knows the future.
Paul is probably the greatest Michigan antifan.
Finebaum says the dumbest things I have ever heard. You should call Ryan Day and apologize for the horrible things you have said about him.
He is mad about the SEC was not in the CFB CHAMPIONSHIP
@@johnnylyles6848 Yes, but they didn't deserve to be in.
🤓 I'm paid are you broke 🤓
If Day keeps losing to Michigan that blank check won't last long.
I only clicked in to say I couldn't care less what PF thinks.
He's going to need a blank check to pay for all that Just for Men
He's on his way to Woody stature, 4 more to go
Harbaugh is gone and ? the sword of Damocles death penalty hangs over Michigans head , so i agree with Finebaum all that being said Michigan is still never going to be easy to beat , it being the biggest rivalry and something Michigan can hang their hats on even in a bad year .
Yep. With a blank check they can buy wins now.
Texas and Oregon were the top 2 highest paid teams and they didn't win it all.
A you was in my hometown of west palm beach go Buckeyes
What does the sky? Is the limit mean in regards to football? Or you're a point of view and does it really matter? We're talking about Notre Dame as if they actually won the game and they have a better program and next year. There's gonna be the top 3 teams in the nation. I mean, where do you get that from? Why am I even watching this channel?
osu lucky they didn't have to play Michigan in the playoffs.
Never again as long as Connor Stallions is gone you mean 😅
Nothing wrong with having a blank check. Money talks, everything else walks. Get use to it
OSU loses 6-12 players a year to the NFL!
Let that dude lose to Michigan AGAIN and they'll forget all about this "natty"
Lol finebum taking can’t get enough of Michigan. Bama ain’t seeing a championship anytime soon buddy
Notre Dame got its brains beat out by a far superior OSU team. Congrats to Notre Dame for taking it as far as they could.
Note - same result in a championship game as in the Brian Kelly era.
Often wrong Finebaum!

@@natecruz7114 I am not referring to coach Day, I am speaking in general terms. Please read the question.
You just watched him when with his recruits. He literally just showed us the finished product of what he built over the late 4 years.
If Ryan Day won the title in 2019 or 2020 this would be true but there is no player for Ohio State left who played under Urban Meyer (unless there’s someone weird 7-year-senior)
@ Urban Meyer built it. Day just stepped in and took over. Easy to recruit in that position.
@ He didn't build anything. Urban Meyer built it. Day just took over an existing top level program.
Nope, nobody at all watched it. I'm shocked that you, or anyone is even commenting here. 😮
^^^ Bitter SEC fan. 😂😂😂
Not a fan of any particular conference. I like good match ups. I also don’t care for the extended abuse and injury these young men have to endure for the sake of tv revenues. Their potential pro careers are also jeopardized. Pointless.
@@billreynolds2221 ffs has been playing a 24 team playoff for years. Plus only a tiny fraction of players go pro. Those guys will make a lot in college also.
We finally have a playoff and people want to go back to voting for champions. No other sport in the world did what college football did for so long.
He couldn't win the big games. So, he had to write a check for 20 mil and poach the best players from other teams in order to win a natty.
No team will go undefeated in the current 12 team CFP.
You lost to Michigan, and they planted their flag on our field, much deserved.... lol
