Professor Andrea Manica, University of Cambridge, on "The impact of climate on human demography and evolution"
Abstract: In this talk, Andrea will discuss the impact that climate has had on humans. He will start by investigating the effects on phenotypes during the Pleistocene and will then move on to consider the effect of climate in determining the tempo of expansions out of Africa, as well as its role in shaping the recent expansion of modern humans 60-50k years ago. He will conclude by looking at the role of climate in modulating the interaction between hunter gatherers and farmers in Western Eurasia.
Hosted by Lucy Timbrell, PhD student in Archaeology at the University of Liverpool.
