Terrapin Hill Farm is located in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Through the years all kinds of music has ricocheted off of the trees and through people from all over. On October 19th and 20th of 2020, we were fortunate enough to have the place to ourselves. Pete and Brenda, in their generous spirit, hung out and listened while we all tried to figure out what we were making.
For us, the band, we were making a live record, with the benefit of having a few tries at each song, which was important, because we learned them there that day, together. We had all been studying our individual parts for weeks, but we didn't get to play all but one or two of these songs before the first day of filming. Everything you are hearing, took place live, down to the pre-recorded samples from the record which Lee is triggering live.
For Sanford and Joey, the directors, I have to imagine they were making a film. They are true creators with a noble vision that is inspiring to see in person. We felt comfortable knowing they knew what this could look like. They took on added cost to rent an expensive projector and transplanted us in some molecular galaxy far away. They also toiled countless hours in front of a monitor sorting through gigatons of footage.
In the end, we made something and had fun doing it, what more could we ask for? Maybe that you enjoy at least half as much. Help us by sharing it with anyone you think would like it, there is more than enough juice to go around.
