No home training is why. You cannot please everyone. The one person that always gives a thumbs down obviously enjoys the videos because, they always watch yet, still gives a thumbs-down. Keep up the good work.
When you said it was the fiddly bit when wrapping the band, if you make another wrap on the front then lift it back up & then cut the excess you will already have the bend where you need it and you can squish it down tight. I hope this makes sense. Nice ring, I will have to try it. I should have watched to the end before commenting!
Thank you foe having clean finger nails! I can't tell you how many videos I have started to watch and skipped because peoples hands were so dirty! I really makes a difference. Just like "we eat with our eyes"? We are watching your hands, your hands are our "food" in this example... again, thank you for that and all your teachings!!!
I’ve watched 48 seconds of this video and I can already tell I’m going to like it……you said simple and I have seen 4 other rose ring videos……I’m pretty sure this is the one I will understand the best. I a total beginner…..I have attempted to make a few rings and the end results are me laughing my head off, what a terrible job!! Now I know it takes practice but my firsts are literally throw aways! (Although I don’t throw away, I need them to show me if I’ve improved!)….Thank you in advance.
Awesome video! Thank you for showing how to do this. I’m going to make my first attempt lol. Love how it is just the basic wire made to look so pretty like a rose. 🌹☺️
James, what I find helps when trying to get that last little tail end tucked over the top of the shank to keep it from catching things is before cutting off the extra, go ahead and bend the wire over the top to get the bend into it ahead of time (you can even pinch it with the bent nose pliers), then pull it back to almost a 90 degree angle, cut the excess you don't want, and finish by tucking it back down again over the top. Since you already made a bend in the wire, it's a little easier to get it to tuck. Thanks for the video. Rings are still one of my challenges.
Thank you for this tutorial. I found it very easy to follow, and this ring is such a nice and easy creation. This can make a beginner look like a pro. :-)
when you get a chance can you please do a part 2 with close ups of how to twist the wire and just in general very close ups at what you are doing ... you did a great job regardless and surely will like and sub. Blessings!

Great Rose ring but may I just suggest kindly maybe drawing a very light pencil circle on your grey felt top to keep your hands in shot as it is so frustrating watching your fingers disappear out of shot when your doing something we should be seeing. Great roses and we'll explained, thank you I had to try it.
Good view of the table edge and floor in front of you but, could only see half of what you did with your hands and wire. Love the rings, very pretty. Will they tarnish with time or not? Thanks for sharing.
Very nice James Brown. You showed and explained everything with ease and great tender thank you. First time watching your RUclips and wont be the last. K

Very nice ring, Thanks for explaining the technique calmly, I enjoyed that. Just one thing, at times you were out of the screen, when wrapping the ends around the ring and when squeezing the pliers down on the wire. Otherwise, great video.
Thank you so much for watching. This was one of my first videos I ever made, so I was still learning how to stay in frame. I apologize for any frustration! ~James
Hi Nadine, I am sorry i havent made any chain maille videos yet. that is something i am looking into doing in the future. this one will be one of the first as its one of my favorite weaves!!
Hi Karen! I used 24g for the little gold ring. I would suggest digging out your wire collection and comparing it to your finger..24 on me looks dainty, but there are smaller fingers out there I'm sure. ;) ~James
James so it is best to use 20-24 gauge wire. Right now I have 18 and 20. I have the old folks would say long and lanky fingers; some days piano fingers; other days full fingers. Lol I will just make them all. Thanks😎
Hi Dan! Not yet, since we do not carry these rings at Soft Flex, i have waited to put a tutorial together for it. But I think i will be doing a Byzantine chain maille tutorial soon! Thanks for watching! ~James
Thank you for watching! I use bent nose as a personal preference. It allows me to get in with the pliers at a more comfortable angle. and any jewelry file will work as well as a Burr Cup. i hope this helps! ~James
Hi Helen, Thank you for watching! The trick with the rose is to twist your wires as you go around the center...and to tuck your wires behind the other wires so you are making a layered stack...if the twists are on the outside of the spiral, you will get a more floral look. I hope that helps! ~James
