Sunlight, for most humans stimulates Vit. D synthesis and sets in motion endocrine functions. Pretty freaking cool, isn't it? 1903 Nobel Prize winner for fisiology danish Doctor Finsen, proved that the sun heals everything. He himself had health problems which he solved using light therapy.
Dr. Wunsch, may I please add to your discussion at 42 minutes: "What we feel when we are exposed to the sun?" In mid day, only extremely sensitive and mindful people will feel a sort of burning sensation which may be what you assert is the short wave/ high energy/ ultraviolet/ damaging rays; however my experience in America reveals many do not feel this subtle sensation, but rather feel the redder rays heating up the water in their skin. ...On the other hand, in the late afternoon sun when the ultraviolet light is highly scattered and thus filtered out of the spectrum, and there is a predominance of the warmer longer wavelength red mid- and near-infrared wavelengths, this is felt as warmth, as the water in the skin heats up and then the "heat" nerves sense thermal heat because these longer wavelengths selectively heat the water molecules. This is felt as a very pleasant warm sensation that no one would deny. Would you agree with my observation?
I have no idea what you said but did you wanted to say that going on sun mid day is good or bad? And is it better to go on sun when sun rises or goes down? If you understand what I'm asking
@@heehee5472 Hello, please avoid sun mid day when UV levels are harmful, and try to get as much sun in the morning as possible, also evening light helps with health too. Light exposure after sunset can be harmful and interfere with eye health and sleep but if you must have light make sure it is incandescent and not LED or fluorescents. those hurt eyes and cause macular degeneration especially at night. hope this helps, I am just sharing what the light experts are teaching me.
midday sun can be dangerous if you did not build up your solar callus the correct way yes. A very good way to develop your solar callus is to spend time in the sun before UVB makes its appearance... and then slowly add some close-to-midday sun exposure as you feel more comfortable. I did this this summer and did not have a single sunburn, my skin never peeled off, and I would spend up to 4-5 hours in the (North American) sun (compared to previous years when I would get sunburns).
This is beautiful, which is why people need to understand the benefits of exploring the natural world through the process of science...things that ancient people understood before modern-day findings lol

I always thoroughly enjoy listening to, and learning from Dr. Wunsch. He explains his ideas so succinctly and in terms most should be able to understand. Well done on your work in this field.
So I wonder what this Doctor would have to say about Solar Radiation Management? Dr. David Keith of Harvard is in favor of dimming the sun to mitigate global warming. Wouldn't dimming the sun affect our health?
Yes but what a huge amount of funding! (sarc) It doesn't matter what the extensions are - they all base upon and seek to reinforce their premise. It may be a result of tuning in to exploit the ideas that may attract fame and fortune, or it could be a cynical psyop - or both! But it isn't worthy of response in its own terms. You could organize a global pissing in the wind event to turn back the climate - but there's no profit in humility.
after 6 years since you asked the question, I am pretty sure you have the answer now. dimming is to kill, actually they want to kill us, about 90% of us
So what do you suggest for people with sensitive skin? I used to always get sunburnt when out in the sun for long. Half an hour would sometimes be enough. I don't tend to burn so easily now but... I'm still not gonna stay out for too long in direct sun. I feel like I can increase my tolerance though, by building it up gradually. Has there been any studies with regards diet? Nightshades for example, tomatoes, aubergine etc do they help in this regards? Eating more of a mediterranean diet. I certainly feel like I cope better, and my skin looks significantly healthier now I eat a variety of vegetables, compared to the more processed junk/refined carb diet I ate in my teens and into my twenties. Should sun cream be avoided completely? What about using something like coconut oil.
depends on ur ancestry. if ur white, shouldny be in the sun too long. asians r in the middle. and for africans or south americans can tolerate a lot of sun.
I'm white and pretty pale. I would start by building up a tan by starting small (like 15 minutes of walking outside) and gradually increasing exposure each time you go out, as your skin builds a tan. The melanin protects against burns and skin cancer. You just might have to build it up gradually.
I use to burn really bad like a ginger when I was a teenager eating shitty food. Now I can spend a whole day outside without sunscreen working in my yard and not get burnt. Eat lots of sardines, mackerel, and other high omega 3 fish. Eat grass feed beef and liver for it’s omega 3 content. Avoid or eat much less grain fed animals. Also look into raw dairy. Eat more like primitive man and your body will thank you, it’s quite simple.
Build your solar calus through morning/evening sun exposure. In those times UV is barely present if at all, while the dominating IR light is very therapeutic. IR light also primes the skin to receive UV. Look up jack kruse solar calus
Most definitely are!!! And so is cold therapy. Mammals have adaptively learned to use the cold to make changes in metabolism, and particularly the mitochondria can make great use of the cold. Northern countries who make good use of the cold (Russian, Iceland) fare significantly better against many diseases!
A 59-minute video just on sunlight? Would anyone who has watched it care to summarize the key points, for those of us who don't have time to watch it? Obviously Vitamin D, but what other things is he bringing up?
The speaking style of this doctor is indeed slow and he does use lots of pauses. HOWEVER, do not let that keep you from exerting extra patience to listen to his explosive thesis which flys in the face of this current generally accepted (but false) understanding: "the light of the sun is cancer causing therefore avoid sunlight". An analogy that he uses to show the absurdity of that false truth is this equally false truth: "Oxygen contributes to oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species which contribute to cancer therefore, avoid oxygen." What is the nutshell? a) Sunlight affects ALL of the body's organs through blood exposure to light as it circulates through the skin. b) Lack of appropriate length of time and frequency of exposure to sunlight causes disease. c) Suntan lotion exacerbates damage to skin. d) Artificial light is not a substitute for truly full spectrum light. The boiled down summary of his lecture is this: Expose your skin and naked eyes to sunlight, especially in the early morning and the afternoon-evening, for initially short and then increasing lengths of time. Keep your bedroom completely dark at night.
We need to be in the sun for 2 hours with as much skin exposed as possible consistantly for a few days or weeks, and watch how you feel after just 1 day of doing so....... like back in 2016 I was going through the worst anxiety/depression to the point that I couldn't taste or smell for many months and I was scared everyday for almost 8 months and I was in my teens imagine how crazy that must of been. Until me and my family went to florida/new York for 2 weeks and I kid you not i felt normal again...... everything went and I felt feelings like normal, I felt myself I could actually sleep I felt tired I (Felt) the 🌞 is the most powerful medicine we have. So again I'm craving the sun i live in England UK
@@amann3161 Start gradually though. Herbert Shelton has a powerful old book on sunbathing and fasting, available online. He recommends starting with 10 minutes of noontime sun and increasing by 10 minutes each day. As the video says, it can take weeks for the body to get used to sun if you've been off for a long time.

I heard the doctor explain that Phenomenological vs 'evidence based' experimentation can learn from each other. Not to assume that one rises above the other. If the truth be told, experimentation these days is more politically or financially based. eg: Pharmacology, pseudopathology, etiology...
James Sheffer There is certainly corruption in modern medical practice and wisedom in old ways, but but science is an effective way of dealing with both those things. Anecdotes an tradition are not good evidence for anything. At best they are clues to places to look. We already know that sunshine exposure has effects on health so lets deal with what science knows about it rather than cherry picking the superstitions that fit our prejudices.
michalchik Surely I agree with you that anecdotes do not rise to the level of science. But I would go further to suggest that 'medical science', independent of political and economic influence, no longer exists in our 'modern' world. If you can direct me toward contradictory evidence, I would appreciate it. I say this only because of the frustration I experience when I go deeper into every major medical finding announced in the media over the past 5 years. I appreciate the opportunity to have someone disagree with me! I don't enjoy coming to the conclusions that I have. Thanks michalchik.
James Sheffer Its a mixed bag. The drug approval system is badly corrupt but there are people trying to improve that through a variety of techniques. A couple places you might want to look. www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/ nihrecord.nih.gov/newsletters/07_24_2001/story01.htm

People who get the least harmful UV radiation(sun light) on their skin live the longest do the best.Harmful UV radiation or Sun is the major cause of premature ageing, sunburn, eye damage, and skin damage leading to skin cancer. Countries who get the least sun live the longest such as Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Canada, Japan. Countries who get the most sun live the shortest such all countries on the equator.
Anstathixin supplement + massive amounts of seafoods + chlorophyll supplement = no burn
Build your solar calus through morning/evening sun exposure. In those times UV is barely present if at all, while the dominating IR light is very therapeutic. IR light also primes the skin to receive UV. Look up jack kruse solar calus
Hello, it's a pity that I do not have subtitles for Spanish speakers.
obvs! you know ur my sarky lil ray of sunshine! 🌞🌞🌞
Are red light panels helpful during low sun seasons?
Most definitely are!!! And so is cold therapy. Mammals have adaptively learned to use the cold to make changes in metabolism, and particularly the mitochondria can make great use of the cold. Northern countries who make good use of the cold (Russian, Iceland) fare significantly better against many diseases!
My story of Vitamin D and recovery: "A Lifetime of Misdiagnosis: Triumph Over Illness" by Eva Cardoza King
Excellent! Thank you.
A 59-minute video just on sunlight? Would anyone who has watched it care to summarize the key points, for those of us who don't have time to watch it? Obviously Vitamin D, but what other things is he bringing up?
yeah sure get lots of sun everyday. dont wear sunglasses. Dont listen to MD doctors theye are brain washed nit wits
An analogy that he uses to show the absurdity of that false truth is this equally false truth: "Oxygen contributes to oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species which contribute to cancer therefore, avoid oxygen."
What is the nutshell?
a) Sunlight affects ALL of the body's organs through blood exposure to light as it circulates through the skin.
b) Lack of appropriate length of time and frequency of exposure to sunlight causes disease.
c) Suntan lotion exacerbates damage to skin.
d) Artificial light is not a substitute for truly full spectrum light.
The boiled down summary of his lecture is this: Expose your skin and naked eyes to sunlight, especially in the early morning and the afternoon-evening, for initially short and then increasing lengths of time. Keep your bedroom completely dark at night.
So how much sunlight does a person with darker skin need In order to get the daily recommended amount of vitamin D? Also any recommended time of day?
@3:40 'no other creature on earth with comparable complexity . . . ' what about octupus or cuttlefish or lizard? they change their skin color and topology for camouflage? just an off-the-cuff question 'cuz i thought that was pretty complex. if our skin is more complex than that, if not as flashy, i would love to know more. very much appreciate your sharing your knowledge with us.
How expensive is it too have d tested?
I hope people get out more w the coronavirus spreading
wish I knew how important the sun was 10 years ago
Currently watching this in the sun 🌞😂
hey, the guy wants to speak about the sun, let him.
Awesome talk... What are we all waiting for nude sunbathing? Check Dr. Jack Kruse for amazing info on this topic!!
🌞
Get some sun for good health. But too much ain't good. About 15 minutes max, 3 times per week.
No. EVeryday sunrise is needed
@@jayv8068 And that will happen until the earth stops spinning.
First 10 minutes is the appeal to antiquity fallacy.
I heard the doctor explain that Phenomenological vs 'evidence based' experimentation can learn from each other. Not to assume that one rises above the other. If the truth be told, experimentation these days is more politically or financially based. eg: Pharmacology, pseudopathology, etiology...
James Sheffer
There is certainly corruption in modern medical practice and wisedom in old ways, but but science is an effective way of dealing with both those things.

Placido Pax So you think that because a belief is really old it must be true? The world is flat, moves through the cosmos on teh back of a giant turtle
Thinks and speaks far too slowly. zzzz.
What an awful pronouciation he has got. And I'm German, too. Also his way of talking is very boring. Breaking up after 5 minutes.
I enjoyed his accent. It was completely understandable to me and so was his presentation.
John Campise me too....I could get everything and liked his accent
its a good thing hes not american because his english would be worse
luticia respectfully, in the domain of science his vocal style is highly perfected, for clarity, slow pronounciation of multisyllabic words, and for accomplishing his purpose of relevant crucial information transfer.
He does take a bit to get to his point, but his pronunciation is fine. Rather listen to him than someone from the British Isles, now they are tough to understand, even though they speak English! I am of British decent, so I am not cutting down the British, but they can butcher up the English language!
The more sun you get on your skin the shorter you live on the average.
Hillary for President those people are killed by the mafias pumping poising from all directions into their lives they need to overtake their land still albeit much more slowly
Max Johnson science?
The Okinawans have the longest life expectancy on earth, and it's a tropical island in the pacific ocean. Go figure.
Correlation is not causation.its an important scientific principle.its not scientific to claim that the sunshine is solely responsible for life expectancy in differnt geogrpaphical areas.there is a multitude of other factors to adjust to.
