I am glad you liked it. I find it is more valuable working with horses that haven't got the training down perfect. That way I can show how to address training issues that arise and improve them😊.
Hi Joni, I am glad to hear you find it helpful. It is good to see issues that are current in ex racehorses and how to deal with them at the time. I have a lot more videos coming up in the near future like this! I saw you joined up in the Kickstart Roadmap Online Course😃, lovely to have you on board! You will love the new online training I have coming up starting next week in the Academy😊
I don't personally use a rope halter in my training. I like to use as less pressure as possible to get a result. I have been working with thoroughbred racehorses for over 2 decades, including riding trackwork daily, so I am very strong, and can apply the pressure needed in a standard halter. There is no problem using a rope halter if you need to😊
I think the best you can do is leave the horse alone for a few days let them be horse first start training right away is not good idea the transition from be race horse to a normal one takes time and patience .
Totally agree! I recommend giving them a let down for at least months even up to a year depending on the circumstances and then proceed with Re education
I heard a year off - to learn to be a horse again. During the year I worked on the ground. Now my boy lets me "do anything" as far as grooming, etc. Much more relaxed- finally we are just starting saddle work. Worth the time.
Love that you had a horse that wasn't "perfect" for the demo. Great job. Thanks.

Thank you. My 8yo OTTB arrived 2wks ago (retired 07/2023) and she’s sweet, but quite antsy. This segment will help immensely ❤

Do you ever use a rope halter for the increased pressure?
