    Funny thing about speed modifiers, some penalties also don't stack with bonuses. In the Gaiaochos sections of P12Sp2, where players are shrunk down and given movement speed penalties to create the illusion of a very zoomed-out view of a huge arena, Sprint or Expedient will cause the speed penalty to be overwritten altogether on top of the effect of the buff, letting you zoom all the way across in about a second. This isn't universal though; having recently replayed the SHB quest where you get a long-lasting Heavy, it seems to multiply with Sprint normally.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Месяц назад +7

      And yeah it does seem like usually if you have both a slow and a boost, they sort of combine in a way? 🤔😅

      The Heavy debuff is usually the exception, though. As far as I've found just playing casually, most Heavy debuffs do stack with Sprint and other speed boosts. I've noticed all Esuna-able Heavies that I've encountered act like this.

  • @nighttiger314

    For Dancer buffs, in my experience it does apply out of line of sight. The example of the boss arena doesn't work due to a mechanic called "Aetherial Interference," that specifically doesn't let players outside an arena affect players in one.
    I first encountered the mechanic while I was a sprout in the weeping city of Mhach, where i died and returned (due to being a sprout) and tried to heal my party members through the purple boss gate. The same applies to CEs in Bozja, which is why for the flare star cheese strat on solo engagements the party needs to buff the caster *before* they commence the fight (though that will probably change in DT, there is a patch note about buffs being removed when entering duties or changing areas).
    In my admittedly limited testing so long as a player is within a reasonable range, meaning their name in the party list is lit up, the buffs will apply. It's not limited to the usual 30y like healer spells, they just need to have dance partner and be within targeting range.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Месяц назад +1

      It is possible it is aetherial interference as you suggest. That also makes sense.
      I just won't assume necessarily that it is, given how I've noticed randomly aoe actions happen to not hit targets that aren't in line of sight, things like that. But in the case of the demonstration, it probably isn't due to line of sight (at least not only line of sight if it is!)

    • @Dw7freak
      @Dw7freak Месяц назад

      Most buffs are already removed on changing areas. It's when you enter a duty with some buffs that they stay. An example is the SCH's and SGE's shields, but I believe that other classes' shields also stay. You can place a level 90 shield on yourself, enter Sastasha synced, and have a 40k hp shield in ARR content. The only problem is that since it only lasts for 30 seconds, this really changes nothing except maybe stopping a bit of damage during the first pull. No other combat related buffs aside from food buffs last long enough to matter, and those scale with your stats.
      Maybe there's something where DRK's can kill themselves in the cutscene waiting room by using Living Dead and it turning to Walking Dead right before you enter the dungeon, but I haven't looked to see if that buff can even enter dungeons because of syncing. Seems like something interesting to check out if it's still possible in Dawntrail.

    Potential mythbuster: Do you retain your speed during the jump animation? For example, if you jump right as sprint expires, do you carry the sprint momentum until the jump finishes and you hit the floor, since you can't move during the jump? Or do you slow down to normal speed in mid-air?

    I have one thing I've been wondering about ever since doing Eureka - does healing generate more enmity if the healer has an increased enmity generation buff? Angles to consider would be tanks that have healing in their kits, blue mage, and Incense in Eureka, for example. If it did, it would be an easier way to pull mob aggro, since healing, unlike attacks, doesn't have to hit an enemy to generate enmity.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Месяц назад +4

      Yes, healing generates more enmity if you have an enmity multiplier. Blue mage tanks sometimes use this fact to hold aggro mainly with white wind (which heals A LOT)
      Paladins can also generate enmity with clemency for what its worth 😂

    • @nighttiger314
      @nighttiger314 Месяц назад +3

      I use that trick on Warrior during mob pulls all the time with Equilibrium. It's also the reason I wish Gunbreaker's Aurora had a base heal amount, since Regen effects don't generate enmity themselves since 6.2 (because of Kardia as I understand)

    • @Dw7freak
      @Dw7freak Месяц назад +2

      @@nighttiger314 It wasn't just Kardia that was the issue, it's just that Kardia can heal while you're chasing and spamming Dyskrasia, so the healing and damage threat can generate a lot of aggro if the tank isn't keeping on top of it. Any other healer who has placed a regen before pulling and the tank just LOS pulls or hits once will know the annoyance. Now it's SUMs that use Bahamut or Phoenix during the run that feel the pain, since those have increased threat generation.

    Warrior's Nascent Chaos came up a lot for me while l was leveling. You don't get the single target upgrade until 80, so in the level 72-79 range I'd walk out of boss fights with a nice juicy chaotic cyclone

    • @ArceusShaymin
      @ArceusShaymin Месяц назад +1

      As I was doing Shadowbringers FATEs to finish up my Shared FATE grinding before DT I actually did quite a bit of napkin math to more efficiently grind it.
      Chaotic Cyclone is a gain on 2 targets over Fell Cleave (300 potency * 2 that is a guaranteed direct crit vs 580 potency that isn't) so from 72-79 ALWAYS Cyclone on 2 or more. I don't know the exact multiplier for Direct Crits since it depends on stat/level tier but I doubt it's a full x2 and so Fell Cleaving is still better on bosses despite wasting that funny glowing buff.
      Before gaining Melee Mastery at level 84 your single target combos are equal on 2 targets to your AoE combo. Since your Surging Tempest combo takes 3 GCDs to set up your buff and gains you 20 Beast Gauge, if you are over level 74 you should use your AoE instead since Mythril Tempest takes only 2 GCDs to achieve the same effect. Basically - if you need your buff and are fighting 2 enemies pre 84, use AoE, then use your Storm's Path combo for better Beast Gauge.
      Also I was 2 days ago years old when I learned that they changed Nascent Flash to not NEED a target - you can just apply specifically the Nascent Flash to yourself without a target, similar to current Dragon Sight giving only you the Eye buff if you have no target. I dunno when they changed it, but if it was the same patch they changed Raw Intuition then it just makes me confused why they didn't just merge the buttons since they're just the same? Maybe some programming thing.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Месяц назад

      @ArceusShaymin i am pretty sure you need a friendly target for nascent flash nowadays, but I haven't tried.
      They made the change to allow you to use nascent flash without a target in shadowbringers back when nascent flash was more like a life steal %, and raw intuition just reduced damage taken by like 20%. That way you could still use nascent flash for healing alone! 😊

      I decided to only showcase this one test because I assumed the peloton sprint method would be very easy to test at home 😊
      Find a straight path to run down. Set a stopwatch. Take the time it takes to sprint down the length of it (for at most 20 seconds).
      Then do it again with peloton and sprint.
      For extra control you can even include one where you just peloton 😊
      I want to be clear that I do more tests off camera to make sure it is right before I just go and say something is true 😅

    I did test the Pele sprint thing, and it seemed like pele and sprint stacked, but I can't certify those results.

      They can both be present on you. But sprint will be the only effect you will benefit from, because you only benefit from the greater effect 😊

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh yeah I get that but when I tested it, it seemed to stack, but like I said I can't certify those results. It makes sense that pele wouldn't stack with sprint given _how_ I tested it. We could also test sprint only and sprint + pele, and see if there is a difference, but testing every iteration of everything gets very repetitive.

      @TheObsesedAnimeFreaks i know personally that I thought ninjas passive bonus worked in leap of faith for YEARS, but that was all placebo. It is very possible it is the same for you in this case 🤔

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh nah like I said, I tested it but I tested it poorly. Pele, then adding sprint increased movement speed... Don't think I tired sprint then pele. I also never noticed nin's speed passive and still don't. Pele, seems just as fast as sprint and with that test I would have never realized that sprint was faster.
      Also it should be noted in bozja, lost swift doesn't stack with any other movement speed increases, and it explicitly states that. So... That draws more questions as to why the devs needed to state that if it applies universally.
