I've completed 69 years this past Nov. When I was 17, I had a 10/22, an H&R single shot 12 GA break action, and an S&W Highway Patrolman 3 357 mag and lived in upstate NY. Rifles on racks in the rear window of a pickup were common. Moved to Dirty Jersey, and firearms were gone till June 2023. Bought a Shadow Systems XR920 Elite with a Trijicon SRO, 5 MOA sight. Love it. Having an astigmatism & AMD, I've got < 2" group at 15 yds on a "Q" target. God Bless. Stay Safe.

I'm 62, but have no plans to ever use an optic on a handgun.

Long as you understand and are reasonable to the fact that optics pistol shooting elevates you to another skill level, I can get that.
If you’re doing it in a snob way to turn your nose up at it - that’s silly.!

I think optics are useful for some applications. Range, target shooting , some types of hunting, etc. How beneficial they are for self defense applications from 7 to 21 feet away, is questionable at best. How practical they are for conceal carry and such is also questionable. The cops who have had the most successful gun fights in history, said they seldom were able to use their sights or even two hands. People would be much better off with proper trigger control. And, things like the crimson trace laser grips don’t even require a sight picture to be effective. Thanks for the video.

I couldn't agree with you more Hunter. Lazy kids need to learn to use the iron sights. I guess you can call me "Pops" too!

Don't like it Don't buy one. The option is there. My dad found it easier on his old eyes. He was even going to cut up a coonan to get a red dot on it. That made me sad. But what ever makes you happy.

💯agree. Didn't know they existed till last year and after fifty years of gun absence, I have no problem aiming with two eyes. Even with a stigmatism and AMD.

Hi hunter I hear you. I used to feel the same way about red dots on handgun. But when your vision starts to show blurry sights someday you may change your tune. In time you also realize much faster target acquisition and better accuracy with a dot.

    • @rangehot

I don't doubt that and have even done a few handgun red dot reviews.
I am just old and set in my ways.
