@BlacktailStudio Just finished the video and I gotta say I didn’t like it most of the way through the process but it came out pretty cool looking. I definitely wouldn’t buy one myself, but I would think it’s cool in someone else’s house

Black and gold would as well... that Damascus like design reminds me of marble designs, which is what makes it look so appealing. Personally, I like silver more than gold lol
I like it a lot. Way better than Damascus denim. And I like the black base. I think the silver foils really pops in the top and the stainless base will steal focus. Cool base for another project though.
thank you for this! he began to paint what he felt, almost as if he closed his eyes and let emotion take hold. the first time i saw “the crucifixion” it sent chills down my spine and i actively sobbed for a period of time. to each their own but his lens and vision of the world is so profound. not too much on pablo
I think this table is beautifully unique in every good way possible, it’s amazing the way you can turn random materials and make the most uniquely beautiful pieces.
@BlacktailStudio I can understand the reason for the ah-ha attack with Cam behind the cam. Scott doesn't have a whole lot of people pleasing built into him, although I think he would like it if he did. 1 second of a focused shot will tell you all you need to know. You guys work great together, the best pairing I've seen come out of BS. FWIW try that base on something rectangular. Also that "end grain" of the black and aluminum is delicious. Maybe that is the gold you keep from this smelting process? I didn't love the end result of the table top (I prefer asymmetry and that centered circle won't jive), but I think there is something with the black and aluminum Damascus look, maybe it's just a less is more thing. Like having some Damascus impregnated portions? Or something falling edge (whatever it's called when you do the 45° to make the top into it's own leg) where the top is smooth and non Damascus but you do the Damascus on the falling edge side highlighting the illusion that the whole table is a 32" thick slab. All that said to say (to the both of you) keep building fellas! Keep trying new things, keep trying new methods on old designs and for God's sake Cam quit working on things on the ground! I thought something similar about the distortion! All it needs is an open floor plan, a lighter coloured floor, and a mostly greyish (aka, millennial style) decor.
Im litterally just a highschool girl with 0 interest in woodeorking or table making or purchasing a table but you videos are legit the only long form content i watch on here. Idk what you do to make these videos so entertaining. But i love watching your process and problem solving!
I have to agree. Your content is lovely, humble and captivating. Some of my favorite stuff on the internet. Keep doing all the good things, Cam. Thank you for sharing your process, knowledge and sense of humor. (And SO glad you're taking better care of your back. Your future self is SO glad you did! ❤)
Of all your layered denim style tables this one definitely speaks to me the most! It really gives off a '70s pink floyd kinda psychedelic style. The high contrast makes it work I think, and the black denim compared to the blue makes it a lot more neutral, which means that you could style it with whatever colors you want in the interior around it
Hey, I'm a composite technician who works with pre-preg carbon fibre for F1. I haven't done anything with wet lay but my knowledge somewhat transfers. I don't think you should be using peel ply to release the part from the breather. Peel ply creates a textured surface that allows for better adhesion with any further bonding/laminating stages. You should really be using a perforated release film instead. This should make it a lot easier to debag the table and decreases the risk that the top layers delaminate.
The peel ply is necessary makes the textured surface easier to work with however you are still correct . Use peel ply over the job then use that film over peel ply then use the breather and I think he should use a mesh instead of rope , will make for better air flow . Potentially even having multiple air feeds going into the job
At the beginning, I thought the idea was trash. How wrong I was! I think the black base is gorgeous but I can see the SS might work better depending on other furniture in the buyer’s room. Good job proving me wrong, Cam!
The discussion on 23 and Me with the gooey finish dripping off the edge and looking rather suspicious while discussing an unplanned surprise pregnancy was amazing and had me cracking up! Beautiful table!
Going back and watching videos from last 5 months. First time I've watched this channel alone. Husband passed quickly and unexpectedly. Our favorite thing was always Cam's sense of humor. Thanks for the company, Cam. Love your work.💕
80 yr old artist, carpenter, furniture maker, home builder, photographer schooled as sculptor says it is KILLER! Fantastic, creative, beautifully crafted!
I’ve always loved how you include Scott as much as you do most RUclipsrs hide their camera guys away and never ask input but in a way Scott speaks for us as non professional wood workers I think it’s cool you do that.
Feel like this is the kind of table Sauron would have in his living room. Was ready to hate it if I'm honest but actually came out kind of awesome. Couldn't have paired it with a better base, both the black and Aluminium look super clean. Another successful freaky build. Don't ever stop getting crazy with it, it's what makes your channel so unique.
I was going to leave a similar comment then saw this one. The edge looks really great - I’m wondering if you could rotate the grain so the entire top is the “edge”, amd also incorporate waves/curves so it isnt a ton of parallel lines. Perhaps also the edge could be a disc with the grain going parallel to the ground (like this one) so you get the best of both worlds. From the top, the interior would be a bunch of wavy lines and the outside perimeter (maybe a 1/4” or 1/2” thick) would be solid black on the top and shiny aluminum lines on the edge. Also, I like the black base more. It doesnt steal attention from the top (but the geometry is still adding plenty of interest)
I used to think the same as you until I visited Barcelona, and specifically went to the Picasso Museum. It's impressive. In his early years, Picasso was heavily influenced by Spanish academic realism and French Impressionism, which aim to capture atmosphere and be as true to reality as possible. As time goes on and he grows in his art, you can see how he reduces the strokes, trying to capture the essence of the forms themselves. That's why he ends up the way he does, making drawings that look like scribbles done by my four-year-old daughters. In reality, he’s an artist searching for the very essence of form, trying to convey something with the fewest lines possible. Greetings from Argentina.
Looking forward to seeing Blacktail's distilled essence of a table as he matures. Just the merest suggestion of tableness without any clutter or fuss.🙂
In all seriousness, this table has to be my new favorite of yours. That "veining"in the black background just looks amazing. I usually would pick black base with black top, but that brushed nickel look of the other really stood out to me. It made the foil stand out. Killer job , Cam!
Quando começou o projeto não conseguia entender onde queria chegar, mas ao finalizar ficou lindíssimo. Os dois pés de acabamento são maravilhosos e combinam perfeitamente com a base ... Amei ❤ Parabéns 👏👏👏
Okay, hear me out. I think it has promise. Like its not a wash; but honest opinion? I don't like the way the middle of the circle came out... However! Possible cool idea?... What if you cut the middle circle out and inset some black tinted glass so you could see into the middle of that cool spiral base? Not sure how that would work, or how much of the middle you could get out without compromising the stability of it all. But I think that would look cool af. Like the glass circle in the middle was "pushing" the pattern on the table out to fit it in place. Rather than it just looking like its sort of just there. Regardless, I love the creative process, and the creativity of using such crazy stuff for micarta like this. Even if it came out terrible and you hate it, it might inspire you or someone else to do something really cool in the future, so I hope you never regret it!
I like the glass idea, I thought the matte black to dark, but a glass insert would highlight the legs. Definitely a center piece for an office or lounge. This would be perfect in a cigar lounge.
Would have to cut it out larger than the original wood ring. Because the ring is embedded in the table. Or smaller plus a router round over bit diameter.
until the table top was finished, I couldn't imagine what it may look like. The circle in the center makes it work. Absolutely stunning. Kudos Scott on the hesitation for the stump. The metal base ties it all together. I think the wood block would work better if it was "trunk" shaped, rather than a block. Thank you for the videos.
I love the table as is but I I'm curious about what it would look without the circle... But with how well the aluminum bonded with the denim it may not work so I don't know how well it would work....though looking at it longer if somehow we could scale it up to a full dining room table size maybe 6-8 ft the circle in the middle would be perfect for like a lazy Susan or as a tabletop gamer a good map spot in the middle! So it kinda grows on me as I think about the possibilities.
I had a 5th grade teacher who taught us about the master artists from the Renaissance to Picasso. When he taught us about Picasso, he taught us about all his other periods before he taught us about his abstract periods. Later on in life, it became my opinion that Picasso had earned his credibility to create abstract art like his Cubism period BECAUSE he had mastered styles from previous eras of fine art. Mozart, while not creating abstract music, was given a large amount of leeway to create is later masterpieces, because he had been a child prodigy and was well known by the elites like the House of Habsburg.
28:31 the surface looks very nice, the pattern reminds me of the hives in alien movie but looks also a little bit trippy. the Violet light of your UV matches it really nicely 👌
No exaggeration, with the stainless base, this might be one of my favorite pieces of furniture I've ever seen. No Picasso lies here, it's legitimately gorgeous!
I don't comment often on RUclips but my first thoughts when I saw the chunky base was "It needs some spidery legs" and then you showed the new legs and I was blown away. The silver legs and the black denim with aluminum looks amazing and in my opinion one of the best looking tables you have made yet as far as the denim series goes. Amazing work man, truly!
Brutally honest, the top is beautiful and very unique, which is partially the attraction to it. The black stand is fantastic and, to me, the top and the stand compliment each other very well. If everyone thought, acted and behaved the same wouldn't life be boring. That's why we have choices. Great post, thank you, and be safe and well 👍
That Baumgartner Restorations guy uses a similar vacuum bag setup for restoring paintings. I'm pretty sure he just tapes the layers together with clear packing tape. Lots of examples on his channel if you want to try to jack his technique.
Guy, the videos are great, the products are great but as someone who use to film and edit for a pretty successful YT channel..the fact that you take Scotts opinion into consideration and value his honest feedback speaks volumes. Good for you, I'm sure he appreciates it more than you know.
25:40 I love this table, honestly. It’s like a topographical map of the earth and space around it. Super surreal and in a contemporary industrial color scheme that goes well with a lot of different decor choices. As a side note: Picasso painted the way he did because he wanted to and found joy in painting the feelings and emotion more than trying to be as realistic as possible. People really didn’t understand Picasso’s work when he first started to experiment but he didn’t care and did what he liked. Eventually, people started to appreciate the art for what it was and he found fame. I feel you should take a page from his book and continue to experiment in ways that make you happy. It’s much kore enjoyable to watch an artist who loves their projects (even if they’re not conventional or universally loved) than to watch someone do something they dislike doing simply because it’s popular or profitable.
I’m a public school teacher so that’s the lens I’m looking through. Doing the same lesson every year is reliable and predictable, but can get a bit stale. Switching it up can breathe new life into a unit, but it can go horribly wrong at times. No matter what you do, just keep switching it up (for better or worse) and you’ll always feel excited about what you do.
Your videos are definitely a “trust the process” experience-and I’m always glad I do, because somehow, every single time, you turn chaos into absolute art. Even when you’re like “eh, this one’s ugly,” I’m over here thinking it’s the finest piece of craftsmanship I’ve ever laid eyes on. Granted, I have zero skills and couldn’t make a popsicle stick box if my life depended on it, but still. That stump? Honestly, it could’ve been an end table on its own. Amazing job. The tabletop design is stunning, the profile is chef’s kiss, and both bases are beautiful-but I think I’m leaning silver. Either way, I’m obsessed.
At first I thought your channel was just reproducing tables I have already done working for Twomblys Nautical Furniture in Cocoa Beach Florida over 34 years. Joe Twombly put all kinds of wood, seashells, fabric, stone, glass coffee beans, golf balls, seeds, fried chicken and nearly anything you can image under resin. And this was before the development of slow cast epoxies. While Joe and his business are gone his creativity will never be forgotten and your channel has sparked those great times back to me, thank you so much for ALL of your content!!!! I give you especially high marks for you sharing your techniques and processes with various materials, most imortantly the failures that come with the development process. While some might not like everything you make but that is the really great part of life, that we all are different and tastes can vary. With those variations in taste and the unique nature of your creation, I remember from working with Joe, that since each piece comes at a high price, it only takes a few out of the population to make your work profitable. While you can listen to the critics and shape your business model towards them, but are they the ones purchasing anything? More than likely not. FYI- for longevity testing when working with materials with a difference in the coefficient of contraction ( such as stone compared to wood or steel) and to see if they separate, just make a small table sample and after it has fully cured test it by putting it in the freezer for a week then take it out and let it warm up to room temperature. You can do more repeated cycles to simulate what will happen over the years, a simple weather test and you can also use a heating blanket to warm it up . The idea is for all materials to go through their thermal expansion variations and see if their dissimilar makeup causes unwanted delamination..... Keep up the great work.
genuinely and personally, this table is to die for. i'd kill to have it and this is one of those works that truly exude so much personality and character. gorgeous pattern and the work you put in really paid off
13:29 Most people don’t realize how easy it can be to damage your spine. I fractured a vertebrae and the doctor just sent me to physical therapy without even doing any imagery or evaluation. The PT was like torture and felt like it was making it worse but it was like my voice couldn’t be heard by the doctor or the therapist. I just started to be more careful until the pain went away. The problem was every 4-6 months it would happen again, and again and with less time between each time. The doctor finally did an X-ray and sent me a voicemail, “Hey! Turns out there was something wrong with you back”…. That line made me so mad! I lost so much respect for military doctors… Turns out I had refractured the same location that the bone stopped trying to heal and a fragment wasn’t even there anymore. The surgeon said at least a half dozen times. So my muscles where keeping me from grinding but when the end of the day came around and my muscles where tired the bones would start to grind and nerves would get pinched.… I had one vertebrae that wasn’t mechanically connected to the ones above and below and he said it could actually spin freely around my spinal cord when he got it all opened up. Protect your feet because they walk you through your entire life, protect your spine so you don’t have to roll through the second half…
Excellent travail, il y a une forte émotion de plaisir qui ce dégage pendant le travail ou la moindre erreur n’est pas acceptable et/ou l’imagination marié à la création donne une finalité de finesse et de fierté le résultat d’une beauté éblouissante. Bravo
My favourite gaming youtubers are the ones who aren't afraid to upload their failures. There's nothing that keeps you on the edge of your seat more than knowing that the run you're watching could end either way. I didn't expect to feel the same way about woodworking youtube, but you've captured the same spirit. I didn't know if this would be a good or bad table, and I think that made the video better overall--totally independent of how the table came out. All that is to say, I appreciate that you keep trying new things and putting them out there
I don't speak German and my French wasn't good enough to keep going. What it comes down to is that this table and stand are breathtaking, stunning, unique, unbelievable. You are utterly amazing. Don't ever stop being just as you are today.
For a few weeks, Facebook kept putting really fancy tie dye videos in my feed and I found them pretty interesting. Those guys draw a geometry on the shirts, then do these highly complicated geometric folds, then they put dye on, and when the thing unfurls, it is some incredibly detailed pattern that was perfectly predicted by the artist. I bet one of those guys might have some really interesting ideas about how to create intentional ideas via surfacing . It might make for an interesting collaboration.
Also, 2 minutes after you claimed to have stopped fucking around, you were bent over at 90 degrees, arms extended, pulling backward to peel the table apart. DON’T do that! Pulling like that, while bent over, is using all of your back muscles when they are already extended and busy holding your torso up. I’m no physician or or trainer or kinesiologist, but I’ve herniated a disk doing EXACTLY that. Very badly. It literally made my back hurt watching you do it.
I like that the geometric shape you added this time is just a simple disk and matches the table shape so well. There is so much chaos from the layers still and that really grounds it much better than the one that has not sold. Black also looks a lot more like furniture.
That table is amazing especially with the stainless base. I also want to thank you for doing the career fair at west. My blue haired son was at your presentation and had nothing but positive things to say. I was just disappointed he wasn’t as excited as I was.
Three points. Number 3 is by far the most important (though 2 is up there)... 1. Isn't 23 & Me going bankrupt? 2. If your foil is a centimetre thick that's not foil, it's sheet metal. 🤣 3. Honestly, I think that table looks fucking badass. Tremendous work, fella.
I like the Damascus-like pattern. I had to get used to the ring in the middle, but I could see it being a nice visual divide between where you'd put your personal stuff (plate, cutlery, glass, etc.) and where you put the general stuff (food tray, wine bottle, snacks, etc.).
The ring is what MAKES this table to me, as an art piece. In photography terms (my understood art language), I'd say this has fantastic texture, good use of line and value, and the composition is very pleasing.
I normally hate wood with epoxy furniture, and don't watch videos like this, but... this table is awesome. It's like staring at fractals in the darkness of outer space. And for the base, the black metal base is best. Awesome job!
It looks absolutely incredible! My jaw dropped when I saw the final color come out, and the black table legs take the whole thing to the next level. Absolutely a huge success.
22:34 Now THAT is a crazy way to start start a sentence man- I thought you were about to say you're having a kid (or another? I don't remember if you have kids, lol) I was doing a puzzle previously so I was cleaning up some of my stuff while trying not to fall asleep while standing and that caught my attention and lowkey scared me-
I like how the ring in the middle created so much detail. Also the base, in both colours, is a great choice - the swirl of the legs almost makes the table look like it's turning. I can appreciate the aesthetic ❤ but can't imagine the home this could work in. Going to go back and look at it again😊
The table is beautiful! I tend to like the stainless steel base better, but the black looks good, too. The style of the base is what makes it go well with the top.
I think the table looks awesome. The black with silver highlights makes it look very modern or space-age, especially with the circular pattern in the center. It reminds me of those "focus your eyes just right" trippy images with a picture in the center, and this one is trying to be a planet or a sun with a solar flare shooting out of it. It's very cool. While not something that I can afford, it's definitely something I would put in an office as both a statement piece and a hell of a conversation starter.
This was a real course on "Just trust the process" because at the start I wasn't on the same page as you for sure. But by the end you absolutely won me over. It came out incredible and those bases really bring it together. I love it with the black base the most.
For starters, I don't know how I watched the entire video, but I enjoyed it. To answer your question, I think the table on either of the metal bases looks superlative. It's sleek, but ample. Elegant and masculine, at the same time, like Rizzo from "Grease" if she were hypnotized by that sleepover experience. With the appropriate budget for a table, I wouldn't buy another table before this one. I didn't expect to like it so much, but like the Denim Damascus I'm going to think about these tables every time I see a similar pattern on anything. As an artist, I really dig your work. My own business has taken a big hit lately, but when we rebound it's a goal to own one of your pieces. The durability, attention to detail and that "little boy" spirit we're always trying not to lose come through in your work the same way it does in your content. A workspace such as either of these Denim pieces would be like "perpetual energy" in terms of inspiration- being able to literally "draw upon" the energy of another artist to get past the creative blocks and motivational slumps.
I think the base elevates the table and while it arguably looks sophisticated as a whole I could also see the table top being some kitschy junk that didn't sell somewhere and wound up at a TJ Maxx.
The table turned out fantastic. Never stop experimenting with something you're passionate about. That's how you engineer your own way and grow your skills. Watching you simply making those tables inspires me on a deeper level, not to mention I believe in the future I might want to get into woodworking as a hobby.
Starting my business repackaging and selling Costco aluminum foil as “precise machined ultra thin aluminum alloy sheets”
I'm embarrassed I didnt think of that
This is like machinists using aluminum cans for precision shim stock.
@BlacktailStudio Just finished the video and I gotta say I didn’t like it most of the way through the process but it came out pretty cool looking. I definitely wouldn’t buy one myself, but I would think it’s cool in someone else’s house
Love it, and the stainless base really finishes it off

This is the coolest looking version of this method you've done so far. The black and silver really go well together.
Next time : copper instead of foil!
I definitely think he's got the colors right. I don't mind the patterning, it's interesting and a conversation starter, and if I saw it in another person's home I would probably compliment them on it but I wouldn't put this in my own house.

Agreed. It has a science fiction vibe to it. If it were mine, I'd go with the stainless legs instead of the black ones.
Just for the record: Picasso was asked once "Why do you paint them like that?" and his reply was "Because what I see already exist".
thank you for this! he began to paint what he felt, almost as if he closed his eyes and let emotion take hold. the first time i saw “the crucifixion” it sent chills down my spine and i actively sobbed for a period of time. to each their own but his lens and vision of the world is so profound.
not too much on pablo
Doesn't mean you should
@ His father saw him drawing stylized seagulls at the age of 2 and realiazed the genius, the rest is history.
@AlbionSupreme Very non-artist comment to make. I'm sure you don't make anything.
@ Very elitist out of touch attitude. I'm sure you make nothing of value
I think this table is beautifully unique in every good way possible, it’s amazing the way you can turn random materials and make the most uniquely beautiful pieces.
Shoutout to video man Scott. I feel like he's a good balance of "Um... maybe not Cam" and "Why not, fuck it", keeping the crazy man in check
That’s a pretty accurate summary actually
He's awesome man keep him around 👍@BlacktailStudio
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dream team.

I'm with the push at weird table request. If you think an idea might work but is out of the box. Try it!
this is just pure innovation at its finest!! big enjoyer as well of the weird table projects, humanity would have gone nowhere without one idiot starting to bang rocks ( not calling cam a neanderthal here, at least by intention)
I agree the best way to learn and discover cool new stuff is to try new things even if they don't entirely seem like a good idea.
If I owned a high-end night or strip club, I'd buy that one.
@Trammiliin_nr2 I agree
28:06 it’s giving me black hole lens distortion vibes. It would be a bit busy for most homes, but would be dope in a modern hotel lobby.
Or in some rich persons house that has a lot of art like this
I thought something similar about the distortion! All it needs is an open floor plan, a lighter coloured floor, and a mostly greyish (aka, millennial style) decor.
I think it would go well with any marble
Cam: Dope = He likes it.
I'm imagining this with that rainbow holographic foil
Need to make money to afford a blacktail denim table 📝
Im litterally just a highschool girl with 0 interest in woodeorking or table making or purchasing a table but you videos are legit the only long form content i watch on here. Idk what you do to make these videos so entertaining. But i love watching your process and problem solving!
Well tell your friends, not many of you out there in my subscribers 🙂
No literally same my dad walks into the living room and he’s like “huh, that’s neat”
When you said ' a 3 hour job ' I heard the Gilligan theme song, ' a three hour tour, ' lol
@l.scales7516hahaha😂
YES!
A rainbow colored base would probably be cool
lol I called it his EMO psychedelic phase, nice to see some agreement
this was really successful. The base would look posh with silver, subdued with black.
I was thinking Star Trek, Next Gen myself!
It's honestly a stunning piece, and to ditch the wood was the right decision.
The chosen table leg design is made for it.
Yes what woodworker needs wood anyways! Pure epoxy table. And metal. That’s woodworking.
The black legs look best, imo.
@organicthug5220it's art. let him have his fun
Agreed
"Girthy chunk of white oak" was actually my nick name in high school.
So what you’re saying is….Cam should make a carbon fibre and epoxy table next? That would look amazing!
I second this! Damascus carbon fiber and aluminum… wow. I can’t even imagine.
@tequisquiapification teams actually have aluminium foil laminated into carbon fibre for laser etching, so its not that foreign of an idea lol
The peel ply is necessary makes the textured surface easier to work with however you are still correct . Use peel ply over the job then use that film over peel ply then use the breather and I think he should use a mesh instead of rope , will make for better air flow . Potentially even having multiple air feeds going into the job
That’s very good to know, thank you
23:28 I was pretty sure Cam was gonna tell Scott he's his father.
Hahahahahahaha
😂
😂 that's what I thought too 😂
😂
At the beginning, I thought the idea was trash. How wrong I was! I think the black base is gorgeous but I can see the SS might work better depending on other furniture in the buyer’s room. Good job proving me wrong, Cam!
I thought the same thing. I thought Cam was smoking too much Oregon weed but I did a complete 180 at the end.
I don't think i've ever been so 50/50 on a "what looks better" question. Both of those bases look fantastic. someone would have to pick for me.
SS base 💯💯
I love the color contrast, black and silver can never go wrong
The discussion on 23 and Me with the gooey finish dripping off the edge and looking rather suspicious while discussing an unplanned surprise pregnancy was amazing and had me cracking up! Beautiful table!
Going back and watching videos from last 5 months. First time I've watched this channel alone. Husband passed quickly and unexpectedly. Our favorite thing was always Cam's sense of humor. Thanks for the company, Cam. Love your work.💕
Sorry for your loss
I hope you're doing as ok as you can considering the circumstances.
I'm so sorry for your loss 😢. ❤ stay strong
Table is badass! I think the silver pedestal looks best.
Мда...Мужчины,Нет,Титаны😮
80 yr old artist, carpenter, furniture maker, home builder, photographer schooled as sculptor says it is KILLER! Fantastic, creative, beautifully crafted!
😊
"All that glitters is not gold." One of your best pieces in my humble view.
genuinely i think the table looks really cool. almost like a topographical map! the center looks like it is popping out of the surface
I’ve always loved how you include Scott as much as you do most RUclipsrs hide their camera guys away and never ask input but in a way Scott speaks for us as non professional wood workers I think it’s cool you do that.
Love, love, love this table and the black base works best!! New subscriber!
22:58 Buying 23andMe gift cards in spite of recent news is wild
I presume the comment about buying the 23andMe gift cards was made before the recent news. Horribly funny timing!
For real lol
Definitely hope he didn't get those gift cards in the end lol
Feel like this is the kind of table Sauron would have in his living room.
Was ready to hate it if I'm honest but actually came out kind of awesome. Couldn't have paired it with a better base, both the black and Aluminium look super clean.
Another successful freaky build. Don't ever stop getting crazy with it, it's what makes your channel so unique.
Not gonna lie, I saw the Wood ring underneath and immediately thought that Cam should inscribe the One Ring on it
@DiloneusThat’s for the gold version…
I want to refurnish a room in my house just for that table to work in it. It's freaking georgous!
This is a really cool piece, but I kinda wish it didn’t have that big circle in the middle, and instead had a more uniform wavy pattern throughout
Same!
agree!
I LOVE the circle, it represents so much to me, it reminds me of deep vulcanoes, it makes me think of lord of the rings, it centers the energy
My thoughts exactly!
Sounds like an excuse to be a crap artist but hey I've never had anything sell for millions 😂😂😂😂
Looking forward to seeing Blacktail's distilled essence of a table as he matures. Just the merest suggestion of tableness without any clutter or fuss.🙂
that's a lot of words to say "boring"
@DeclanMBrennan made me chuckle
Honestly out of all of you stranger tables this one is my favorite. Please Don't stop doing these
It looks like a table for potheads or a drug dealee. I ate to much shrooms and can't stop staring at the table, type of table.
I agree with this.
I dont like the circle centre it.
Glass idea is super interesting
100% agree. The circle ruins it for me, but I love the randomized squiggles everywhere else!
until the table top was finished, I couldn't imagine what it may look like. The circle in the center makes it work. Absolutely stunning. Kudos Scott on the hesitation for the stump. The metal base ties it all together. I think the wood block would work better if it was "trunk" shaped, rather than a block. Thank you for the videos.
i feel like the circle ruins it
I hate the circle.
I'm in the no circle club also.
Yeah, why does the wood have to be a unnatural shape,-a block?
Потрясающе! Не могу представить, сколько стоит это произведение искусства! По другому нельзя назвать такую работу.
You are so lucky to have Scott. On just about every level, from technical to personal, that kid is a godsend. Hold onto him for dear life.
I’m convinced he’s hired bots to blast my comments now.
Beep boop beep beep, give scott a raise.
@BlacktailStudio 😂
@BlacktailStudio sand dyed under the foil woukd look awesome once sanded .
22:13 "The al-you-minium is like 1cm thick"
Just stick to the American stuff, we understand you.
Given the length of that foil roll and its width, a 1 cm thick aluminium would weigh over 3 metric tons, and cost around 25,000$🍆
If the foil was a centimetre you’d need like 4 layers of foil to be the same thickness as the table top he made lol
No exaggeration, with the stainless base, this might be one of my favorite pieces of furniture I've ever seen. No Picasso lies here, it's legitimately gorgeous!
At first I thought the top was meh... but then when you added the base, the entire piece was like WOW!!!
Amazing work man, truly!
the silver is sweet
Yeah, the chunk would be good for another project but totally wrong for this top.
Brutally honest, the top is beautiful and very unique, which is partially the attraction to it. The black stand is fantastic and, to me, the top and the stand compliment each other very well. If everyone thought, acted and behaved the same wouldn't life be boring. That's why we have choices. Great post, thank you, and be safe and well 👍
When you refresh your feed only to see new video uploaded 13s ago ❤
Как же приятно наблюдать за вашей работой! 😊 Вы великолепны! Стол шикарный! ❤
I'm a simple man. I see new Blacktail Studio upload, I click
If I found out these videos were carcinogenic, I’d still watch them. I’d just crack the window open.
I'm totally with you, but I cringe at these overused comments. It's been done to oblivion.
Same, unless it's a short, I never click any shorts, shame yt doesn't allow disabling notifications for those
Such an original comment
Absolutely, I click on Cam's videos! Wish he posted more frequently, actually.
I do apperciate that even when you're doing ads, we still get to see you working in the background. great way to do it
The self-deprecatory nature of the video is hilarious and genuine. Never stop, always love your "cautionary" tales. Thank you!
That table would look really sweet with an ultra high gloss finish.
That Baumgartner Restorations guy uses a similar vacuum bag setup for restoring paintings. I'm pretty sure he just tapes the layers together with clear packing tape. Lots of examples on his channel if you want to try to jack his technique.
Came to say this!
Guy, the videos are great, the products are great but as someone who use to film and edit for a pretty successful YT channel..the fact that you take Scotts opinion into consideration and value his honest feedback speaks volumes. Good for you, I'm sure he appreciates it more than you know.
The cut to the staircase in the background when you said "just think about it. Why wouldn't she be?" was perfect.
Making new different items outside of your comfort zone is how you expand your creativity regardless of the end product.
Thank you for making it!

That is truly one of, if not the most awesome table I've ever seen. Thank You for making it!
The emperor has clothes. This table is absolutely gorgeous. Well done, Cam.
Was just watching one of your vids, what a suprise to see you here :D
Это потрясающе! С чёрным подстольем, действительно, лучше. Великолепно! Браво мастеру! Даже не представляю, как могла прийти такая идея!🤩🤩🤩
15:07 continues to destroy his back
😂
genuinely and personally, this table is to die for. i'd kill to have it and this is one of those works that truly exude so much personality and character. gorgeous pattern and the work you put in really paid off
I've only just found this video, and I honestly really like this coffee table. And the black base looks amazing with the top.
25:50 i would like it more without the ring.
Picasso said "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child". you get it or you don't
kids truly make better art than is showing in modern art museums.
All that is to say, I appreciate that you keep trying new things and putting them out there
this and NileRed after spending 2 years turning a toothbrush into toothpaste or something like that
I don't speak German and my French wasn't good enough to keep going.
As a massage therapist I could not disagree with @samgendler more. That pulling technique and activities like it makes me money. Stick to it 😉
This table looks so cool. Such a unique and original idea. I love the fact risk vs reward technique
The top turned out excellent!
I like the black base the best.
23:06 Think about it.
😂😂😂 we all know who he is talking about.. I mean come on, just think about it.
Ah yeah...I mean: Think about it! 🤔
😂😂
22:05 I'm from Europe and I'm still confused by this sentence.
Same 😂
🎉 I stopped the video just to see if anyone else heard that… 😂😂 The casual trolling is superb!
He said 1cm but should have been 1mm 😂
I like that the geometric shape you added this time is just a simple disk and matches the table shape so well. There is so much chaos from the layers still and that really grounds it much better than the one that has not sold. Black also looks a lot more like furniture.
That table is amazing especially with the stainless base. I also want to thank you for doing the career fair at west. My blue haired son was at your presentation and had nothing but positive things to say. I was just disappointed he wasn’t as excited as I was.
4:52 shhhhhit I turned the video off to soon
LOVE THIS TABLE. Would be proud to own such a creative piece. Gives a futuristic, monochromatic tie-dye vibe and that’s my jam all day.
To me I was pretty much interested in the process but the table with the brushed base looks so freaking cool
Three points. Number 3 is by far the most important (though 2 is up there)...
1. Isn't 23 & Me going bankrupt?
2. If your foil is a centimetre thick that's not foil, it's sheet metal. 🤣
3. Honestly, I think that table looks fucking badass. Tremendous work, fella.
I caught that as well. 1/32" is not one centimeter 😅
I can't stop laughing at the sheet metal comment. Well played, sir. Well played.
A sheet? A centimetre thick turns it into a chunk of metal
@arquillionnastira8517 That would be an armor plate, good sir!
I assumed he was taking the piss.
Putting that ring in the center of it made a huge difference, it looks so cool...
It looks absolutely incredible! My jaw dropped when I saw the final color come out, and the black table legs take the whole thing to the next level. Absolutely a huge success.
22:34 Now THAT is a crazy way to start start a sentence man- I thought you were about to say you're having a kid (or another? I don't remember if you have kids, lol)
I was doing a puzzle previously so I was cleaning up some of my stuff while trying not to fall asleep while standing and that caught my attention and lowkey scared me-
I like how the ring in the middle created so much detail. Also the base, in both colours, is a great choice - the swirl of the legs almost makes the table look like it's turning. I can appreciate the aesthetic ❤ but can't imagine the home this could work in. Going to go back and look at it again😊
I love the finished table with the black stand beneath. Very cool.
A centimeter? I can't tell if you're trolling the Euros, or if you are just that American. Either way, this deserves a hearty eagle screech.
😂😂😂
i laughed so hard when he said that, but he's def trolling haha
Scott even asked “you know a centimeter is way thicker right?”
@BlacktailStudio A centimeter is just below 5/12 of an inch or just above 7/18 if that helps you visualize it.
@BlacktailStudio lol
Hands down the most wholesome yet caustic channel that I watch. I think, if we knew each other real life, we'd be drinking buddies.
“Wholesome yet caustic” is going on my tombstone now.
12:11 Minecraft vibes
Both metal bases are exceedingly cool ! A very good solution for this style of top.
It's got that 90's grunge feel. The base definitely helps bring it to life. Great job!
I love this concept & it turned out beautifully. Unique always has beauty whether the confidence is there or not.
This is breathtakingly gorgeous ❤ glad you didn't use the chunky base as well
Esa es la mesa que amo. Hola, soy una venezolana que vive en Orlando y suelo pasar mi insomnio viendo tus trabajos. Me parecen geniales 👍
