- This video introduces the newest French double-manual harpsichord made by Zuckermann Harpsichords, and the Zuckermann team that designed and built it. Special thanks to all who worked on this amazing instrument including, R.P. Hale, Peter Watchorn, Lena Zamolodchikova, Aymeric Dupre la Tour, Kevin Spindler, Mike Lynch, Stuart McCormack, Will Plouffe, Tatyana Nivina, Kurtis Shaw, Jordan Auber, Richard Auber and Steve Salvatore.
That’s my Dad! #McCormack
I was planning on building a clavichord, but it was very difficult.
This was magical to see!
Love that they're building a harpsichord and I hear Diamond Rio in the background (meet in the middle)
that opening piece and performance is a masterpiece- incredible instruments- wish i could work under you

that bending jig for the curved side of the box was genius. so simple and cheap to make.
At last, an HONEST video taken in a REAL workshop. No bullshit, false props, etc. A sign of authenticity too, is the background music in the workshop ; not classical music, because manual workers are not encouraged to listen to it. It's usually girly magazines, Pop music, and in this case Country music. Don't get me wrong, I'm a cabinet maker myself, and I've lived and worked in Britain and France for thirty five years ; that's why I know what I'm talking about. I listen to, and play classical and Jazz, not Pop. I'll give my good friend David Ley a tinkle about this video. Thanks again for posting this very honest and simple video, because there's a lot of "delicately enshrined rubbish" out there. Just to end, I've been gross and vulgar on purpose, because the overly-dusty universe of the Harpsichord needs some of its false dust blown away. Today's musicians, especially the "period" instrument crowd, take themselves far too seriously. Most artists are narcissistic self-admirers. Just read up a good biography of Herr Bach, and you'll soon be brought down a pin or two. I would rather replace the word "artist" by "Servant of Art" (Serviteur de l'Art). The aforementioned used to sign his letters : "Your humble Servant, a man of little merit". So come down from cloud nine, smash your mirrors, and say a prayer to Johann every morning, eh. I liked the first player though ; those accelerando chords were quite exhilarating.
Wanna talk about vulgarity? I've restored a couple of harpsichords in the last year. Know where I learned my cabinetmaker's trade? In prison.
Benoist Stehlin was a parisian builder in the mid 18th century, probably born in Germany. Only two of his harpsichords had survived: the Smithsonian Museum's one which was your model and the second on exhibition in Maurice Quentin Delatour Museum, Saint Quentin (the original San Quintin), Aisne - France often used for many recordings.
I got the book "How to build a harpsichord" by Richard Schultze if someone is interested
yes very much so. I'm entertaining the idea of building one as my next project
Hola, estoy interesada en el libro. Somos de Cuba, el grupo de música antigua Ars Nova. Trabajamos en el proyecto de construcción de un clavecín
it seems to be more quazi piano than harpsichord unfortunitely but still is very close
alos link me to boook
@@menialharpsichordist553 the main difference between both is the sound they produce, and not how it looks.
Le Vertigo from Pièces de Clavecin of Joseph-Nicolas -Pancrace Royer.
You know, I want to admire this film, but fell a little stressed about the same. I made harpsichords in England for many years and we just made them, they came together. With little or no stress! Just thinking out load
I'd really like to have a go at making one and would be really interested in any information you can share with me
Congratulations! Beatiful instrument and sound. What's the music at the beginning?
I've remained enchanted by it!!!
Thanks!!!!

Richard Auber Thanks by your kind answer! And congratulations for Lena, too.She plays very well, and moreover she has that special feminine charm
typical of the slavic women!
Richard Auber could it be possible for someone to make an upright harpsichord?
