I remember watching this back in 2010 and feeling such joy, like being connected with the whole continent, feeling how we are all the same. Those were the days.
I remember being watching it with my mother and my brother, with no clue about this, and then there was that first cam in Spain. We were like ??? Spain? That's Spain! That's Spain! 🤯 😂😂😂 It was so cute, a cozy moment of enjoying being from Europe
This flash mob always makes me cry tears of joy. It doesn't matter which country you're from, which culture you belong to, how you look or how talented you are, it's just about enjoying the music with lots of other people and forgetting all your worries that evening.
I sooooo wish you could have given them 2 🃏jokers! 1. The switch song, with Måns, Conchita, Eleni and Verka! 2. Riverdance ! Wildcard- please forget it ever happened- MADONNA
The slogan of that years show was “Share The Moment“ and this interval act was all about sharing a moment together. Makes me proud to come from Europe everytime I watch this. Offtopic: The indoor smoking in Cologne is no longer common as it is forbidden now in Germany 😉
My favourite moment ever from Eurovision, always get emotional, doesn’t matter what happens in the world , at least for 1 week in the year we all can get along , the idealist in me jumps from joy everytime I see this video 😍
Until Riverdance in the 90’s the interval act was just an afterthought and an ad break for many countries. Since then it has developed into its own. And to blow the Irish trumpet louder the Green Room was first called the Green Room in Ireland. That year the room was green. The following year they called it Green room again and it stuck from then on 😂
This was created by the Swedish choreographer Mattias Carlsson (and boyfriend of former EBU Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand). Carlsson has been the stage director of a lot of the Norwegian entries (and one Swedish, that failed to qualify): Norway 2022: Give That Wolf a Banana Norway 2019: Spirit in the Sky Norway 2018: That's How You Write a Song Norway 2017: Grab the Moment Norway 2016: Icebreaker Norway 2015: A Monster Like Me Norway 2014: Silent Storm Romania 2014: Miracle Norway 2011: Haba Haba Sweden 2010: This is My Life Norway 2010: My Heart Is Yours Norway 2009: Fairytale
This might sound silly but this act always makes me super emotional. With all the war and hostility in the world right now, this act just shows how we are all connected and just like each other. It’s a beautiful thing and I think we need to be reminded of it more. ❤️ And how amazing would it have been to be in that crowd!
I'm not German, but I do live here and they say that most internationally-recognised German cultural stereotypes, such as wearing Lederhosen and Dirndl, actually belong to Bavaria - the region to the south that includes Munich and Nuremberg. In Berlin, for example, you only see that stuff in touristy places and/or around Oktoberfest, and the Berliners can get quite irritated by Bavarian tradition being assumed to be German-wide.
I am starting to get the feeling Riverdance isn't in this list, wich it seems like it should be.. I mean one of the other songs even mentions how every other interval act since then is trying to live up to that.
This act is made by Bounce Streetdance Company, a former Swedish dance group. One member was Fredrik "Benke" Rydman that also done the choreography to Cha cha cha with Käärijä also to last years winner Nemo. You know us Swedes we just love ESC too much so we are everywhere working for all countries. 😅
Ok, firstly...2010 is one of my favorite Eurovision years, because it was the only time I witnessed a german victory. Secondly, looking back on the flashmob now, it looks kinda lame compared to what all kinds of Flashmobs came after that. But back then it was something completely new and gave all europeans a special feel of "bonding". If I am not completely wrong, this flashmob at eurovision started the whole flashmob movement. so yes, back in 2010 (when Elina was only 3 years old ;) this was quite cool =) Regarding the different cities.... well, as for germany Bavaria is stereotypical German. But Bavaria is only 1 of 16 states, so not all Germans are like that (as you pointed out the same with texas). As for this video... Hamburg/Düsseldorf.... as I said, Germany won the Eurovision in 2010 so all of Germany was quite hyped, because we knew the chances of winning were good. I don't know why they didn't show Hanover in this video, as Lena (the winner) is from Hanover and they had a big crowd themselves. Hamburg is in here, because they ALWAYS have the biggest Eurovision Party. No clue why Düsseldorf got picked specifically. They hosted in 2011, but we didn't know that at the time obviously. So, the choreographed dancers in Hamburg was, because there is always a pre party, that's shown on TV and stuff.
that year was my first eurovision memory and my country Germany won it so best memories haha and this interval act I watched like 50 times or more already but I love it everytime watching it😂
Yes, I think the Spanish singer got pushed away from the mic. They were 2nd or 3rd to go on stage, so it happened really early on. I think they could perform once again towards the end.
I know "Love, Love, Peace, Peace" fans will disagree, but imo "Flashmob" is THE BEST interval act Eurovision has had!! It has everything you can wish for in an interval act...
NO.. Absolutely not. It had two guys half-assed singing, and no actual talent otherwise. Compare that to either LLPP or Riverdance and it fails MISERABLY
YES! Thank you! It's so so overlooked by the community. The idea of including and connecting all of Europe in the interval act - absolutely amazing and unique. It has a special place in my heart.
@@ZakhadWOW for me what ranks this higher is the organization of this thing, how risky it was to attempt and how much of a pain in the a** it must've been to do (because I know how hard it is to coordinate a big crowd)... one thing is to get a few professionals to do a song or a dance, but this is something else, because you have to put huge trust in thousands of people to do their part when they can just ignore you at any point and do as they please (like some of the people, who security had to get out of the artists way)... And at the end of the day Interval act isn't about talent necessarily... it's a non-competitive act just to entertain the audience... some people choose to show talent, some just showcase areas of their countries and some do something like this... If it was just about talent and nothing else, then "Riverdance" for me is No.1
It's not bad, I really liked the flashmob parts from the cities, it's cool with so many people coming together like that, at least those who bothered to learn the choreography, but the part when it was just random families jumping around in their sofas in their living rooms, without any structure or even trying the choreo at all, the same thing over and over again felt like just a filler, it became "Boring, please start the show already...".
Wow, this one was new to me. Very good one! I don't remember having seen it before, I think I watched the final 2010 but perhaps not as focused as usually (Sweden did not qualify to the final that year). Well done!
Watching this now was emotive. In recent years racism and fascism has been rising so much in Europe and watching how in 2010 all these countries had tons of POC dancing and having fun with everyone and "nobody" had a problem because we embraced the multiculturalism. What happened? All this hateful propaganda spread all around the continent, very sad. Great interval act honestly
Steadycam operator who filmed part of that video shared that he had to pull one of the flashmob dancers from the security guard, who was thinking they were intruding :)
I'm sad that The Grey People from 2016 didn't make the list. It's truly one of my favourite moments in Eurovision history. It's about the refugee crisis of 2015 and is so moving.
I think this is a very cute and nostalgic interval act, however seeing the fashion of 2010 combined with a flashmob makes me cringe so much haha. I think other acts have aged better, however this one did showcase the unity of fans of Eurovision
The stereotypes of the Netherlands mainly come from the Holland provinces. The Netherlands has 12 provinces, and 6 islands in the Caribbean that are also part of our kingdom. But the stereotype of a bunch of frugal, drugs using people mostly comes from North & South Holland. That’s part of the reason why the entire world uses Holland as a name for our entire nation, which is wrong of course.
Elina… Elina…. Honestly… if Riverdance isn’t your #1… then we’ve got an international incident on our hands developing here… what are you thinking with this mediocre list!! 😂
I´m just gonna say it, No 3 should have not been on that list, this one should have been 3 and the first two places between Riverdance and LLPP, but oh well
You dont think this was way harder to produce/make successful than Riverdance? Thats just a dance style in Ireland they showcased. This should have been #1 on the list. During the preparation for the flash mob , The Eyjafjallajökull volcano eruption in Iceland posed significant challenges to the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, including the flash mob performance: The volcanic ash cloud caused widespread flight cancellations across Europe, making it difficult for participants, delegations, and even some audience members to reach Oslo. The travel chaos affected the number of people able to attend local flash mob events and or reach Oslo for the final. Some participants and fans opted to travel by bus or car to reach their destinations. This included long-distance bus journeys, which became a common solution for those stranded due to flight disruptions. Organizers had to coordinate travel for participants who were unable to fly, which likely involved arranging bus transport from various locations across Europe. The reliance on buses and cars not only affected individual travel plans but also complicated logistics for filming related to the flash mob performance. The film crew had to use busee, cars etc to get around. Europe. With many people unable to reach rehearsal locations or events, the organizers had to adapt quickly to ensure that the flash mob could still take place as planned so they had to modify the scale of the flash mob due to the uncertain travel situation. With less time for preparation and rehearsals due to travel delays, the flash mob organizers faced additional pressure to ensure a smooth performance. Despite these challenges, the Eurovision 2010 flash mob was successfully executed.

Man those scenes from the living rooms make me tear up every time, I just can´t help it
That interval act is still my favorite.
One of the best moment in eurovision ( Europe) History . It's Always make me cry and smile
I wish I’d been in that crowd! I would have been right at the front, doing the classic dance move ‘stop the traffic, let ’em through!’ 😂💃🏼🕺🏼

First hand look at Europe during Eurovision grand final night😂 Food, dancing and fun😊❤
If love love peace peace isn’t included this week, there is no justice in the world.
Don’t worry it is
@@Carlos.rodriguez87 But what about Riverdance? Both should be there.
It will for sure be No 1 which is fair enough, but where the hell is Riverdance?
The mockumentary from that year (how ABBA was a political project) should be there, it's legendary
I remember watching this back in 2010 and this is still my favorite. I don't know why but this still makes me cry.
Verka Serduchka for Ukraine :)))) It was nice to see her here too :)))
This is in Norway 2010 if I remember correctly

I`m starting to think the list is made by a younger (maybe Swedish?) person and maybe they dont know? But yeah, without Riverdance thist list is off
Hands down the best interval act ever. Only real contender is Riverdance.
yeah the security guys need to do their job well 😂

Security was on edge due to Jimmy Jump doing a stage invasion during song 2 from Spain.
There was a stage invasion during one of the performances in the final so I guess that's why the security guards were so present during this interval

2010, where the world was a little bit better and when I was deeply in love and my region was cultural capital of Europe. That was an awesome year.
