Willian Estevao or 'Messinho' is Chelsea's new wonderkid and I analyse why he's already been so good for Palmeiras and Brazil.

Estevao said himself he doesn't want that nickname. The Brazilian fans just decided to call him that
Palmeiras fan here. No one calls him that.
@@capsloccc4606then who Wtf
@@danchiziofficial2159 The media gave him that nickname after Nike broke a record by signing him aged only 10 years old. He's openly said that he dislikes it, as do the supporters.

Do one on Paez as well pls
Falling off cliff. He's not starting in his current club anymore
@@ranggafahmi8479 he has some problems, but he is young enough, he has time to work. A big part of the task for Chelsea is what development vector they will choose for Paez. It will all start with a loan, most likely. If he needs a couple of years to reach the required level, like Andrey Santos - okay. The main thing is not to rush.
@@ranggafahmi8479 he definitely needs a loan
@@tellallwithkag9176fairly certain the sentiment is that he’lp be playing for Strasbourg next season.
Yes please!!!
I am as a Chelseafan very excited to see what this guy will be able to do. Seeing his highlights dont entirely convince me, but just looking at the assist and goals numbers and the company he is in / surpassing for teenagers in Brazil is grounds for all kinds of optimism. It is mentioned in the video also, but just looking at the focus defending teams put on this guy must not be overlooked. There are ALWAYS either two guys on him or 1 guy and 1 right behind. The 1+1 approach seemed to be quite effective in their recent match for the league title, where most of what he attempted was ineffective. If he can have half of that impact / gravitas for Chelsea it will be incredible for Jackson/Palmer.
nah bro he will just go on loan for 4 seasons then you will sell him to vitesse for 12m in 2029
@elliottball9898 that's what I'm saying bro😂. Just look at Andrey Santos.

Has plenty of room to grow still, but French league and PL are two different beasts, as I’m sure he’s figured out…
Only £28m up front my guy. He has to do a lot to trigger all those add ons.
A lot of the add-ons have already been triggered based on his performance at Santos during the loan period. That's how the deal was structured.
@@AR-ktbffh it's not santos my friend
@@AR-ktbffh Firstly he plays for Palmeiras, and secondly, no they haven't. Most of them are for his performances with Chelsea. A small amount were for his performance with Palmeiras.
@@AR-ktbffh Firstly, the total fee Chelsea have committed to in the transfer is €61m/£51.6m.
€34m/£28.7m will be paid to Palmeiras up front, while the remaining €27m/£22.8m is made up through add-ons.
The add-ons are split into three separate categories, with €6m relating to appearances over the next year with Palmeiras, €17m based on Estevao being a “multi-season starter” at Chelsea, and the final €4m revolving around individual achievements in the future.
Romano also noted there is a Ballon d’Or clause in the agreed terms.
@InvaderZim742 so you admit Estevao has already triggered the add-ons in the contract for Palmeiras loan?
As a Chelsea fan, lm proud and l think madueke will warm up the bench soon
Can see madueke at villa/palace next year, it will be Estevao and Neto
@@sam-e9098 hes prob gonna go to newcastle, they wanted him last summer too
im very excited about Estevao, Im often unsure about madueke so I think Estevao will have a really good shot at starting next season and if that's the case it'll only push him and Noni more.
Imagine this. Ibrahim Rabbaj and Estêvão Willian playing alongside Cole Palmer/Jackson/Neto in 3 years from now.
rabbaj is actually little messi lol

Stop creating great content. It’s hard to keep up 😂 in all seriousness, keep it up!

We know the Saka x Ødegaard duo , i will be there no matter what for the Estêvão x Palmer duo
I'm excited about Kendry Paes too! Let's us know more about him 🔵🔵🔵💙💙💙🥶🥶
o bicho é craque
Estevao just scored a last minute free kick winner
That free kick is what convinced me he may be the real deal. As good as the Palmer one.
As a Chelsea fan I am so happy with how our young talent is growing, I just hope they get a fair chance in the future when the time is right. We have a habit of selling them too early for full profit, don’t want to lose another KDB or Salah.
i remember in like 2009 when rom7ooo uploaded a neymar vid titled the next ronaldinho and it was SUCH a big thing because you wouldnt title a video like that unless there was something seriously crazy to show people, we were all talking about it at school. crazy how that's become the minimum now for most uploads
At least that was spot on. Neymar really was world class and could do things most top footballers can only dream of.
can you do one on Aaron Anselmio as well? he’s joining the blues along with estevao in the summer
To be honest, Anselmino is my favorite.
The issue is how will Estevao fit into the attacking rotation. Palmer and Madueke seem to be locked in as long term starters and both like operating in the right sided half-space as left-footers which is exactly what Estevao is, not to mention the fact that they also bought Kendry Paez too.
Madueke is way too inconsistent and still has a lot of room for growth in the maturity department
having him and Estevao compete for the starting RW spot will be a massive benefit for both
@@fpl_djhammer for our RW position, Pedro Neto > Madueke = Sancho
@@fpl_djhammer fair enough
@@joinmeng I'm not even considering Sancho for you Chelsea fans as he's on loan and will probably end up back at Man U if Amorim gives him a shot
I think Estevao plays the position this RUclipsr had Fernandes in this video as he's said that he's been promised the no. 10 role by Chelsea. Him and Palmer will play the 2 no. 10 role behind Jackson.
Pretty sure their manager rated him higher than Endrick
Awesome vid as usual 🙌. Thanks for the great analysis.
Great production value, but a hard video to follow. My feedback would be to present stats with some kind of benchmark or context. Otherwise they are just numbers 😅 Also let the clips play in full first before stopping them. Hard to get a sense of what is happening overall.
I bloody love these video's Jim!!!!
Looking forward to next season already
I hate Chelsea but they are building something special here. Definately Title contenders next season
Why Hate Chelsea who is humble than any other club in EPL kkkkkk I know it is because of how Chelsea do business without modifications .
He said he hates that Messinho name so please respect it
Just call him Estevão bro
Mostly I am excited by the combined lack of ego, technical ability and positional awareness that both Palmer and Willian have. That's why they could combine in the way you describe. Both will take the better play over personal glory. Give space for Palmer, he thrives in that, give the pass to Estevao in close quarters and watch Estevao do magical things. Both will happen.
Exciting times!
yes james
It's fitting that he's broken Neymar's record in Brazil; he reminds me so much of him. I can't wait for him to arrive at Chelsea!
From what i see, having Estavao will feellike having two Plamers. I mean Estavao isnt on Palmer's level, but id say he's 3/4 of the way there already. Palmer is more of vision, Estavao is more of , "ill break though your defensive line and create something"
It’s a huge compliment to compare him to Neymar and as a Chelsea fan we’re really excited for him but come on now Neymar was different class.
Paez next james
Personally on the deal we won’t be using estavao in the right as enzo uses them to create width etc I think more likely is we saw like we did when Chelsea played felix and palmer together palmer will occupy the left pocket and estavao the right with Jackson/gyrokres or osihmen up top felix and paez as rotation in the palmer:estavao role and Neto/noni on the right sancho/mudryk on the left (or a new winger)
This won't work for Chelsea's defense and therefore won't be a long-term solution. Estevao will stay wide on the right and will shift to the center in front of the penalty area only occasionally.
All the talk about using the Brazilian in a more central zone, I think, is led by those who don't watch Palmeiras games - Willian is quite comfortable on the right flank in isolations.
@@K41Z3RR Estevão has an insane decision making for a player at 17. He is very much like Yamal in that. And he gives the unstopabble vibes (When it looks like the player is gonna beat the defender every fckng time)
@@pirolovini Great. He will be able to make excellent decisions... on the right flank.
Unlocking the best out of Jackson & Palmer
Gabriel mec is the real deal
Goalkeeper, Estevao, Santos, Guehi, Delap in the summer
He will have the same issue everyone has going into the prem the physicality if Chelsea use him in under 21’s and let him train with the first team he can develop well doesn’t need to hit the ground running
Why can't Liverpool ever get in for one of these South American wonderkids? As far as I remember, the last player we brought in from Brazil was Lucas Leiva like yonks ago.
Because liverpool doesn't like to spend money. They won't even spend 30M on well estb european players, then there's no chance they spend that same amount on any wonderkid.
@mohdjunaid787 that's not true and you know it.
@@BriarLeaf00 That is true… who did Liverpool sign this summer? Chiesa for pennies?
You guys signed a young Brazilian Gk called Marcelo Pitaluga a few seasons ago
@wiZZO2204 truth, I forgot about him.
I think Estevao is really good to be on first squad, but i think he will need a adptation in easy matches for better develop.
My ONLY concern is the physicality of the EPL. Otherwise super excited.
How about Kendry Paez, I'm curious about how he will fit in Maresca's system
So excited to watch him in blue shirt 💙
They said the same about Hudson Odoi
Ibrahim Rabbaj is Chelsea's little Messi
Kind of feel like this guy has been overhyped by social media because of his appearance considering he’s not even playing with Chelsea’s U18s yet but Ryan Kavuma McQueen is the same age as him and is
@@tspcontent4630 His stats are insane. Hes not playing above his age group because hes not physically developed yet.
@@Goomyfan-r6gIt’s easy to have stats at youth level
@@zorenwhite7886 There aren't many that have Rabbaj's stats. That's why hes considered special.
@@tspcontent4630 Maybe Kavuma is an early child and Rabbaj is a late one. At this age, this factor still matters.
So this comment may bite me later, but, I'm not ready to call him an upgrade on Noni yet. He's two footed and is used to dealing with multiple defenders (wingers get no space in the prem), but the small margins and physicality of the prem may cause him issues.
I think he'll be a good signing, but he's more like a Gabriel Jesus (different player but you get the idea) than a Neymar.
Estevao is great young talent, but don't sleep on Paez because I think he is great young talent for Chelsea too, even lil bit better imho
Though Paez hasn't improved that much but do us one please
Let s hope he settles well

Great great he is amazing offensively. Nobody talks however about his off the ball game. Is he pressing well? Or lazy like Neymar? This will be a proper make or break for him. If he is not pressin OOP then he will fail in Europe.

He’s so much better than Madueke already at his age he knows how to pass 😂
Cool, where does Palmer play?
Cam like he has for 80% of his chelsea career? It’s madueke that will give minutes up
Don’t forget about Paez
Unless they sell Madueke he is just going to be another dressing room problem.
In the premier league players will just kick him down like they do to all class players
Clean video 😊
Damn he could be the next Antony if he works hard
Why you hate THE GOAT Antony, UCL semifinalist, no comparison to this small overhyped prospect!
I think he’s the reason why Nkuku is not being an important player for Chelsea
Nkunku's place got taken up by a surprisingly good Palmer.
Poch was going to build the team around Nkunku.
Great player. But just very unfortunate.
Don't get my hopes up, I'm too hyped for Chelsea's future
I wish all the best to him, but I hope him and the media keep their feet on the ground
He will be a marked man in the Premier league...
Where the gat dahm pod at
His defensive work rate might be the cause why he wouldn't play along side palmer as much as we would like. The balance wont be there
Just because he is Brazilian doesn’t mean he doesn’t work hard.
Bit premature. He's good for his age, but it's still the Brazilian league. Philogene was playing at a higher level in the Championship, raved about as a "baller" because he dribbles and does tricks, but he cannot complete a dribble in the Prem lmao
He shoots a lot so 9 non-penalty goals in 29 games isn't all that. He overperforms slightly relative to the quality of the chance. He doesn't progress the ball much from deep, and he assists more than expected as if teammates are more clinical than expected. He doesn't play final balls often. He doesn't pass or cross into the box much. Most of his game is carrying the ball. He has a ton of successful dribbles and... surprise surprise. It's all volume. The success rate is mediocre in such a league.
Kendry Páez is at an even lower level. I'd rather we focus on improving the first team than spending billions on kids who'll be farmed out to Strasbourg, never become homegrown (meaning useful homegrown players have to be culled to fund them) or never make it into the squad because they're lightweight on the main stage.
Yes but you can’t just wave away potential just because it’s playing at a lower level. You do realize all the same could be said about Vinicius Jr or Neymar before transferring to Barcelona. Especially Vini cause he wasn’t that good in the Brazilian league.
But I see you actually went deep into the stats/underlying numbers. Which is better than most people using this argument. I just see it way too often being used lazily.
Anyway both guys are already done deals and it doesn’t seem like Boehly is changing his hiring strategy unfortunately. We will see how it goes. Most prospects fail instead of becoming phenomenal talents.
@Lucaz99 potential doesn't really mean anything though. Lots of players who had the most notable "potential" failed to do much of anything in the end. It simply looks at someone young playing at a relatively decent level in whatever competition they're in and saying "they could be really good". Nobody knows where a player's ceiling is until he's already peaked and started to decline.
I went to school with an U20 World Cup golden ball winner. I used to kick about with him outside his house because my best friend lived next door. Nobody took him seriously because he couldn't get a look in at top clubs where world class players were playing ahead of him, and he transferred a few times, built himself up and now he's only just developing a reputation at a high level. He always had ability, and you would say he had potential of course, but that doesn't necessarily translate into a super star career. Even just getting to the top level in a country where 12 million people play is a great achievement. He hasn't failed by any means. But since he doesn't score 80 goals a week after being a "potential" super star, that isn't good enough in some people's eyes.
At the end of the day, Estêvão is a pretty generic pacy Brazilian winger with flair and that doesn't mean he's anywhere near top five league level. In all likelihood he'll go out on loan when he gets to London. We've only just binned off Ângelo Gabriel and Diego Moreira for being basically the same thing, and Ângelo was a far better dribbler than Estêvão lol. People need to stop overhyping kids.
nunca ouvi falar nesse apelido. nao sei de onde tiraram
I think he will come to us , with expectations of becoming 1st XI star... too much of expectations for a wonderkid... and also adapting to new league... it just tells you it's not gonna work. I hope I am wrong tho. COYB
Chelsea need to be investigated after man city
So much better than Endrick but hasn't got nearly HALF the hype... I honestly don't get it
Love your content but perhaps benchmark the stats against something/someone to help add context and allow us to understand the quality of the lad. Stats without context are just numbers.
Estevao is very good to great for his age. However, this hype is setting him up for a possible big thud. He is obviously not better than Neymar, his touches, speed and technical ability aren't Neymar level at 17. Let's temper our expectations of him, more so that he is transiting from the Brazilian league to the PL.
his goal output (efficiency?) is already better at this age though iirc
maybe he won't ever be as good as Ney in terms of flair, natural ability and technical skills, but he might be a little better with his output? as good as Neymar's stats were

I’m seeing a lot of issues with play style and enzo management style. It is going to get so congested palmer playing 10, Estevao cutting inside and enzo’s stubborness and seeming hatred for overlapping fullbacks not giving width but cutting in will make us so tight and create no width.
Which is why we still have wingers to provide the width
Estêvão is a wide winger. The right number 10 will provide the overlap.
