Nice video Chris. I would call this video “keeping the wood yard at peace with your minds eye”. It does feel good to accomplish a task when there is yet so many other tasks to be done, kinda like cleaning out the garage. Your wood splitting has really evolved into reading the grain and maximizing quality and minimizing slash. GNI
What a great location Bertlandia has turn out for “In The Woodyard”. Room to work and expand, room to store splitter inside and barn to park tractor. Conveyor makes life easier, thanks Bert, concrete pad for wood processor. Best part is help shows up frequently. Like minded woodies! You must thank lucky stars that you ended up there? Did you approach Bert or did Bert reach out?
Hey Chris. Amen! Give me the crooked pieces, the knotty pieces, the pieces with character. Those are the logs that make a great fire in a fireplace when you’re just hanging out and watching it burn. The “premium perfectly square” firewood is boring. May as well get a gas insert. Always fun watching you work a little harder than me. Take care!
I have one place where the tree guys deliver wood. The sawdust is about 4 inches deep. I never have to worry about my saw hitting dirt. When you do a lot of sawing you can actually feel the saw in the wood and know when you have reached the bark on the bottom of the log. You will also notice the difference in color ofvthe sawdust. The Cambium will be lighter colered, then the sawdust turns darker. That means you are in the bark. Darker still means you are in the dirt. Lol
it is hard to convince my neighbors of exactly what you are saying. They have these small (stihl) cc saws and think they all cut the same as a big one except they are lighter. And think they can keep up with the big ones. They think mine cut better because of the size of my bar. Some people will never learn. I see this at sales all the time. Great video
right tool for the job, if I am clearing trails limbing all day I do not need a 70cc saw. some jobs it's 25-35cc others 50cc and others 70-90cc. and IMHO top handle saws belong in a tree or in a bucket truck not on the ground.🤪
In fact, splits do light better than unsplit wood. Yes, the small stuff is small enough to be put in the fire box wut the flames are not that nice in the beginning. Splits are more worth than rounds.
Very few show all the work that is needed to keep a woodyard cleaned up. I feller better be just as good with a rake and scoop shovel,as they are with a saw!
I know you are busy but I enjoy learning from you. Do you have any advice regarding drying firewood in the southern states? I'm in East Tennessee and our avg humidity is fairly high. Is it ok to make 3 row cord stacks like you used to make? Once again, thank you for all the information. Love what you're doing!!
Low over head is key to being successful. 24 inch bar $50 chain. 18 inch bar $25 chain. If you buy logs they've been dragged=rocks in bark. Just something to consider.
Organization is the key to success! Well at least one of them. Hey that Wolfe Ridge bucket would work nice for cleanup 😉 Also. Firewood Frenzy June 22nd! More details coming soon.
I'll be doing the same thing soon once all this snow is gone. Got some road maintenance to do and clean up around the wood bin. Gotta have it done before the big trip, hopefully!
Nice clean up job Chris. Clean yard for the Ruby Red Slippers helps keep you vertical for a while longer. Got to thinking about the debris pile, would it be a good pile to start a compost pile? I have little knowledge about what is all involved but I do see a uptick in home gardening and I do know compost is the best, being organic and all. I also know Bert is a farmer and may be able to share some knowledge on that front. Your videos get my overthinking mind going. 🤣 GNI
Great looking job keeping everything Clean your Thinking 🤔 SAFETY and always put SAFETY FIRST. remember clean work place or spot is a SAFE area around your working feet 🦶. I don’t see my Terry Knotty firewood 🪵 on U tube no more , he always had a beautiful clean wood yard for sure . 😊
I’m glad you cleaned all that up! It was starting to bother me😂 Nice work Sir Chris👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Yes Mr. Neatman!

yup!
Good morning lot's of logs to cut Chris😊
yup!
Hi Chris,
I call that thin stuff “ankle” wood. Both because of the size and the prediction that one day I will cut my ankle dealing with it.
Good one!
Nice job
Thanks!!
Morning!
Good morning Jean love my brother in law have a good day
@@roncaron-l1r I love my bro-in-law too! Have a good day Ron!
hello!
The area you dump that stuff is going to have the sweetest soil in a few years.
Maybe so!
Awesome job getting things cleaned up and liked the voice over.GNI
Thanks!!

Thanks for watching!
Hi Chris, any idea how much wood you have split it’s your Ultra? Interested in how it’s held up
Something like 1000 full cords???
Very few show all the work that is needed to keep a woodyard cleaned up. I feller better be just as good with a rake and scoop shovel,as they are with a saw!
Yup, if you don't clean up you end up with a muddy mess year round.
👍👍👍
Thanks!!!
Sawdust the 4% waste factor. Good clean-up

yup

Can you burn that pile?
yup

I will let you do it all, let us know when you are going to start!
@@InTheWoodyard be done yesterday..lol...its so cheap
Nice to have that mess cleaned up before the BIG DUMPING we got. I had 11"+ over Here by Merrill.
we just had snow
Wouldn't some rye seed be good to help bind the mud?
I'd like to see something growing in all that open soil.
Maybe so!
I appreciate the way you keep everything cleaned up and neat.
thanks

Just stack it ion pallets or stringers OFF the ground and cover ONLY the top and you will have dry wood if you split it down first. Good luck!
Yes I got a couple people want big pieces.. but majority want small manageable pieces…
Yup!
Привет. Я не понимаю английский. Какая мощность? На четыре части не сможет колоть?
the 540 is a 40cc saw and the splitter is a 14ton I think and yes I have a 4 way wedge too.
Simple business practice, give the customer what they want. Good show Chris.
yup
Dang wood yards looking good. Nice work.
It is that.
There is an option to make biochar out of the trash.
Sure if I had the time and wanted to.
🤘
Thanks!
Good morning all!

Morning!
hello!
Nice clean yard, what do you do with the debris pile? Burn it or haul it away?🇺🇸
Dump it in the back of the farm.

Yup...exactly!
Cleaning up is one job we all overlook, but a very necessary one!! Great video!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
You got that right!
Good morning Chris and friends my wood yard is full of snow. Have a great day

Yup!
G’morning Chris ! Nice cleaning action. Looking more gooder. Almost most bestest.
GoodNightIrene.
Thanks!!!
I understand cleaning up. I try to keep my woodyard clean as I go. My lovely wife wants it to look good. Happy wife, happy life.
Right on!
Keen sharp cuts the wood, slightly rounded splits the wood. Or at least is what I was taught.
okay.
