It's really starting to look like a sunroom Matt. Donavon continues to amaze me with his craftsmanship and capabilities throughout this entire build. Be glad he's your primary contractor on this job as I've seen a lot worse in several repairs done on our own home. The window installation will really change the look and feel of that space.
These Saturday videos have become a favorite relaxing time to live and learn from the Jedi master (Donovan) and young Skywalker growing in his expertise….you guys are a hoot and I wish you could catch up on the actual progress we get to enjoy on Instagram and such, but wouldn’t want to miss a single minute. Makes me wish I was there to see it all. May you both enjoy your Father’s Day! Thanks for taking us along on this journey!
The episode I've been waiting for. Donavan knows what he's doing when it comes to flashing. Not a lot of contractors make sill pans unless we tell them to. I'm in the bi-folding door and window business.
I'm also a fan of the door casing being aluminum instead of wood. Wood always rots out and it's not fun to have to replace the bottom 1' of casing due to rot. Although, a lot of new construction houses are using some sort of composite plastic/concrete trim to remedy the rot issue. I'm slowly repairing all my trim until the windows are replaced and will use PVC when the new windows go in (2-3 years). Maybe I should order them now due to the crazy lead times...
You're not "going backwards". You're going forward in a different direction! Everything "Hinged" of the door placement! :-) Great work, guys! Thank you for the content!
Not enough labor to make quicker schedule. Doors and window delivery knowledge appears to be the PIVOTAL delay, we are not aware of ~ Good to recognize for us the viewers, that we too may be sitting and waiting months for importat elements.
Keep the content coming - was great to see the door finally go in. I would have yelled at Donovan for peeling the protective film off the door ..... since there still lot's of construction, and painting still yet to come. It's like the little kid having to open the package thing - I don't blame him :) - maybe I'm just jealous I didn't get to peel it off myself !!!!
Interesting to watch how the pro handles setting in a door. I grew up with a lot of construction being done. I never got to see a door actually hung. It always seemed to happen while I was in school. Thanks for sharing the process.
Thank you for taking us along with you on this journey! Your videos have been a big part of keeping me motivated during my own Reno. I know how slow progress feels, and how significant the little stepping stones are! Donovan’s knowledge and attention to detail is impressive!
Cool! It’s amazing the amount of parts and details that currently go into building a home. Maybe 3D printing coupled with recycling will make home/structure construction easier. Thanks! 😎✌️🌞🎻
Excellent choice of door. We put three of the exact same Marvin full view doors in our house when we remodeled. After nearly three years we couldn't be happier with them.
That's a really nice Marvin door [looks to be pretty high-tech, with all the nested extension jambs, and splined weatherstripping (I think that was weatherstripping)]. I like all that carefully made door floor pan--it'll keep all the rain and snow melt outside.
That moment at 22:46 where you both were holding the door was so beautiful. Like something out of the movies Titanic (on the bow) or Ghost (where they were making pottery).
So much happening, so much progress! The changes I see, having been there before, are amazing and very gratifying. You guys are really making a difference and a great new homestead!! :)
I can't believe it is time to start the door install. Now next is what I have been waiting for, the windows. Whoooo Hooooo. Awesome job. That is such a substantial door. Nice !
thanks for showing those sill extensions. I need to change some dog damaged doors and frames with 2x6 walls and thought the only option was custom doors. this will save me a good bit of money, thanks!
Well, it looks like your four legged building inspector approved of the installation and the installer. Great looking door. Can't wait for the windows to be put in.
Man don't you love it when a plan comes together. The Architect and Designer make their marks on paper. The Builder has to fit the door so it opens and closes perfectly and makes the trim lines align with those marks on paper exactly! I like "the green button does something".
My favorite part of Saturday has come, watching both of you working on the house.. The door install went great !. and I bet a lot of people didn't realize the amount of prep involved before installing the door.. When you were all excited and saying 'we have a door!'.. it reminds me of the movie The money pit, in the scene when they were all excited because they have stairs again..lol Happy Father's Day Matt and Donovan 💜
yep Matt I am sure you have been ask this before but if you would not mind I would love to get a list of your video tools mic cameras and what ever less you can share with me been thinking of getting into the RUclips thing but not sure if I would get very far but it would be nice to get a small list of things I may need to get started and I really enjoy your home fixer up videos with Mr D.
Anyone have a recommendation for another channel that shows the milling and woodworking like Matt normally does on this channel. I am more interested in that then a remodel. Doing a great job Matt keep it up.
That's a nice looking door. How much did you say it was? Only thing I was wondering about was sealant between the metal pan and the flashing tape, and then sealant between the door threshold and metal pan. I know you have a nice roof over this so it's probably not even needed. Unfortunately for me, I don't have that and I ran two beads of caulking on one of my doors and got unlucky where the sealant was at hollow spots, with very nasty rain storms (60mph winds) I get water under the door threshold. I sealed up from the outside but the extension jamb threshold (not sure if same as yours) still gets water in there where my sidelights are. The door itself has a storm door now, but sidelights don't get anything to protect that seam of the extension jamb except the unsightly clear lexel I put over the seam above.
Doors were my life for 12 years. Thousands and thousands of doors I installed. How did you establish the sill height? What is finished floor material? edit; 1:57 I see the band establishes everything. In 88 I had to do an elevator entrance in a renovation for a big building. Normally the rails for the elevator establish the location for the buck, except the rails were not put in yet. I was just given a couple of marks by the surveyor for in/out and height. This was the most nerve wracking buck I ever did. If I was off, the elevator was off. Massive potential issues.
What?! Matt can move 200 lbs slabs around on his own, but can't hold a door... Lol But in all seriousness, progress is going good. I'm excited about seeing the view when the windows are in!
It's time for a nice Saturday morning episode of the Matt and Donovan... or is it Donovan and Matt comedy home rebuild show. Anyways, I know it's going to be very entertaining as well as interesting 👀 watching the house get closer to finished. Hopefully with everyone safe and healthy 🙏 in the end. Edit 1. Pulling plastic protection covers off anything glass or other items drives my Bebita Wife Maria into the heebegeebies. I always make sure to say "look baby" as I pull them just to watch her reactions. Donovan's pulling it off would have set her off in orbit around the 🌙 🌚 🌔 🌕 🌖 🌛 Moon.
Your door, once it's locked, can only be opened by anything heavy enough to break the glass. Total security!
Very nice door. I am a fan, of thick walls. If Donavan wasnt a close personal friend, before this project, he is now.
Scott is the MVP of this episode. Great video!
Outside as under the rug is a good one. Every one that comes through that door will never see what you see.

How satisfying it is to have the door installed and opening. Congrats, gents!

That door-closing sound. So satisfying.
Can't wait for the next episode.

Donovan is good. It's nice to see someone want to do quality all the time.
Matt’s not the best helper, but he is the best helper that can run three cameras at the same time.
Matt is all clean cut and Donovan is the hippie 🤣
Role swap?
Were you talking about RR Buildings @11:40? Agree, Kyle is good at what he does.
Yes
Not enough labor to make quicker schedule. Doors and window delivery knowledge appears to be the PIVOTAL delay, we are not aware of ~ Good to recognize for us the viewers, that we too may be sitting and waiting months for importat elements.
"If it involves standing around, I am your man" -Mathew Cremona :)
You guys are really work as a team and yes I'm sure those windows are gonna be a pain in the tush

Donavan, you're a great guy and I hope this series will bring you some business as well as some fame/notoriety...
It great to see an actual builder doing the work!
Not that I didn't have confidence in you all putting that door in, but I was holding my breath. ☺☺
Interesting to watch how the pro handles setting in a door. I grew up with a lot of construction being done. I never got to see a door actually hung. It always seemed to happen while I was in school. Thanks for sharing the process.
That is a beautiful door and it is not even the front door!
22:45 Not only did you get a pretty door, you also got a big hug to go with your frosting.
I so wanted to join the bear hug at 22:46. It was the most beautiful moment of this build so far.
Nice job on the door Matt! Thanks for sharing the video with us!👍💖😎JP
Better and Better, guys.
Having the windows and doors all line up? Wow, I didn't think anybody does that. I really like it.
Can’t wait to see the windows in! Doing a great job! Love watching the progress.
Looking great Matt and like the haircut now you need to get Donavan a haircut.
Great update video Matt. I can tell that you’re getting excited about being closer to being done with this project. Thanks for sharing.
Perfection is so awesome!💕👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Pancake almost lived up to his name.
Great instructions. "Everything green does something." Very good door there. I'd make sure I have that key.
Thank you for taking us along with you on this journey! Your videos have been a big part of keeping me motivated during my own Reno. I know how slow progress feels, and how significant the little stepping stones are!

Sweet progress. Just one question....is there anything Donovan doesn't know about carpentry??? He's the bombe!
Could really tell Pancake adores Donovan, lol. The door has a nice, satisfying closing thump. Sign of a quality door.
Up from my nap in BLAZING conditions for Northern France, but the hay's done and in the barn; just sit back and watch you fellows....cheers...rr

I was thinking Brokeback Mountain. It sure was beautiful.

I liked Donavan's call into Wood Talk. funny
I can't believe it is time to start the door install. Now next is what I have been waiting for, the windows. Whoooo Hooooo. Awesome job. That is such a substantial door. Nice !
DUPONT really need to sponsor you guys.
thanks for showing those sill extensions. I need to change some dog damaged doors and frames with 2x6 walls and thought the only option was custom doors. this will save me a good bit of money, thanks!
Is it me or am I hearing Matthew saying ''Hey Ron!'' every time he greets the viewers?
The camera man in Red on Making the Pan is good and really helpful
19:25 Pythagoras strikes again. Who could have seen that coming?
It is certainly going to have the wow factor. Terrific build.
That’s quite a door and first class installation.
Well, it looks like your four legged building inspector approved of the installation and the installer. Great looking door. Can't wait for the windows to be put in.

I like "the green button does something".
"It's the wrong color!!!" 🤣
Good job Matthew isn't colour-blind (we hope)
@@18robsmith Well he only sees colors in natural wood tones...
Happy Fathers Day!! Matt and Donavan!! See you in the next video!!!
Thanks!
The door looks great Matt, looking forward to seeing the windows go in! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
I've seen you make awesome things out of wood, but house building is another animal.
It might my new glasses, but I think this has been a awesome education. Looks fantastic.
This series has been stellar! I’m looking forward to next week’s episode now. 🙂
Now you can start to see the outside again. Maybe you can use the forklift for the windows.
That is a gorgeous door. Looking forward to the windows.
Will be absolutely great when completed. Then you can review the videos to remember the process and appreciate your home.

Petition to change video intros from “hey everyone my name is Matt” to “Hey everyone, it’s Matt again” 😂. We know your name by now!!
Lot of work.. well done… at one point thought you were making a coffin on that operation table.. lol
Flipping hell, Linds is making a lot of noise hammering through your intro there 😂😂
yep Matt I am sure you have been ask this before but if you would not mind I would love to get a list of your video tools mic cameras and what ever less you can share with me been thinking of getting into the RUclips thing but not sure if I would get very far but it would be nice to get a small list of things I may need to get started and I really enjoy your home fixer up videos with Mr D.
It looks soooooooooo good! Great teamwork. Can't wait till next week.
Awesome looking door , great job on putting it in when you know what your doing.
Thank you for sharing
Predicated?!? Come on Matt! Hinges!! 😂😂
Matt you need invest in a company that makes a super window cleaner for your House of Windows - Win/Win situation!!
I've always wondered, does putting staples through weatherproofing cause any water leakage? It's obviously standard practice.
22:45 You two have become pretty close during this renovation. Giving me Titanic vibes lol
Anyone have a recommendation for another channel that shows the milling and woodworking like Matt normally does on this channel. I am more interested in that then a remodel. Doing a great job Matt keep it up.

That door frame is thiccc AF!
That is going to be alot of windows, can't wait.
KUDOS for a job well done! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🕺🏻💃🏻
Y’all are doing such a great job!
i would never remove glass film wrap till all construction is done you have unpainted frames also. So much else to do
You are doing great. Waiting on the windows now😉
Matthew, I can’t get over how much better you look with shorter hair. 😉
Nothing like a back handed insult to start the day.
That's a really great door.
Hmmm, who’s doing the work here? Donovan’s in a t-shirt while Matt is bundled up in a coat & hat! 🙂🙂
so many windows, you will have a wall to put anything there
Doors were my life for 12 years. Thousands and thousands of doors I installed.
How did you establish the sill height? What is finished floor material?

"Weird" intro, reminisce of This Old House intros. 😂
I'm not sure what you're going for in the area under the balcony, but I'm feeling ceiling fans under there.
That door got a lot more three-dimensional than you would expect.
Matt needs a new t-shirt saying, “Work amazes me, I can record it for hours!”
that is very funny and i hope matt sees it and replies
Honestly I would Love to have a camera guy who can "hold stuff"!
Was hoping to see the windows on this video as well.
Excellent, thank you
I think you meant to title this video "Everything HINGES on this Door"
Those external reveal extensions don't look fully engaged to me, there is one spot where it's fully engaged and no gap, the rest is not home.
What?! Matt can move 200 lbs slabs around on his own, but can't hold a door... Lol
But in all seriousness, progress is going good. I'm excited about seeing the view when the windows are in!
Matt got his annual haircut🤣
22:48 I didn't know door installation got so intimate?
You know that plastic you keep pulling off the windows is put there so masking for painting isn’t such a pain in the ass.
