  • I had my stent placed March 10th, and stayed the night in the ICU. This is my experience summarized by me. I am not a medical professional, just a patient with multiple chronic illnesses.

    Finding your videos now in 2022. It’s been the best description. I had this in high school and had spontaneous remission for over 10 years. And just had a relapse. I have been on 2000mg diamox for 3 months and had 3 lumbar punctures. and only gotten worse. My neurosurgeon is so convinced my stenosis is the cause that we are doing venogram and stent placement same day (as long as the gradient is over 8 which he says he’d be shocked if it wasn’t). Your experience is calming my nerves a lot. I’m glad you’re recovering well. I can’t wait to experience freedom again.

    Thank you! I am at the point where I am about to get a stent in the next months. Headache and visual disturbances occur sometimes but the intrcranial pressure is constantely high.

    Just found your video. I have been diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebrii and am on 1000mg of diamox for about four months. Got a lumbar puncture that caused me to have to get a blood patch due to them taking out too much fluid. I have been even more miserable since that and I am now seeing my vision change. I don't feel like my neurologist is helping me. I am terrified of needing a stent but hope that I might be able to get it to finally relieve my symptoms. Your video has given me hope for a future of potential treatment of this. Thank you ❤️

    I’m 32 when I was 20 I was diagnosed as pseudo tumor, and I spent four years getting a spinal tap every month. Eventually, my cranial pressure went back to normal and the headache subside. Nine years later this December, I got sick with something and all of the pseudotumor symptoms came back. I just got released from the hospital and I had a spinal tap performed. My pressure was above normal, prior to that I had an MRI done and it showed my venous vein is narrow. I’m seeing a surgeon tomorrow to see if surgeries an option to be honest I don’t wanna go through this again. My insurance doesn’t cover Diamox and I don’t want to live another four years getting spinal taps I’m afraid and don’t know if I can do this again I just don’t understand why it came back I weigh 140 pounds workout every day. I don’t understand how it come back but it did.at this point I just wanna put this problem behind me

    i am currently in the very early stages of my iih treatment and i have been very pessimistic about the outcomes of my life due to it.. i have been in pain for so long and didnt know what it was, and its just been getting worse and worse lately.. the pain is bad, but the mental slowing is even worse! i feel so dull and i lost my witty sharp humor :( i started to accept that my life was just going to go down the drain and i wouldnt be living to my best potential anymore due to my brain. but seeing your transformation gives me so much hope. thank you for posting your journey, i really hope you continue to feel better and living your life!!

      kolae I completely understand because I was there not too long ago❤️ Keep advocating for yourself, you are worth it! Working with your doctors to explore more possibilities like stenting and shunts may seem really scary, but if it gives you a chance at less pain it may be worth it❤️

    Thanks for the video and which one you suggest to go, Lumbar puncture or Stent procedure.
    I am also suffering with IIH since a year but I have vision issues, very light headache and neck stiffness and bit drowsy most of the time, I do use diamox 1000mg per day, initially the results was good then no change so planning to go for lumbar puncture procedure.
    Note: I am physically fit and no other problems I have

      blanche cadeau the world is crazy right now with the pandemic going on, but once you are able too speak with your neurologist about stents or shunts! Not everyone is a candidate for a stent, but it’s worth getting an MRV to see if there is stenosis going on. I hope you feel better soon❤️

    I started diamox but started having the same side effects that you explained, so my neuro stopped it and i do my spinal tap friday. I was wondering did your doctor try a different medicine with you before having to get the shunt? Also what exactly was the reasoning for you to have a shunt placement?

    • @JaymeeCisneros
      @JaymeeCisneros  4 года назад +1

      janie touchet I don’t have a shunt, I have a stent (they are quite a bit different)🙂 With me I still had optic nerve inflammation, even though it was gradually showing improvements with each Diamox increase), and we had 2 MRV scans that showed that the main issue for how fast the build up was happening was the narrow transverse sinus in both sides. MRVs do not diagnose you, so I made the decision to do an angiogram which showed how severe the issue was. My team felt it wasn’t worth switching medications because I’m always going to have a built up of fluid unless I get a stent. That being said, stents do not cure anything, and there is always a possibility that I may need a shunt in the future. I hope this was helpful🙂❤️

    What’s aggravating for me is that my IIH is well controlled in every aspect but my squished optic nerves. I can see fine, I don’t get bad headaches anymore etc. but my neurologist is adamant about getting my optic nerves back to normal. I just had an MRI-V today to see if I need this stent and if I do, I don’t know if I even want it. It’s going to take a chunk of time out of my life and I’m in school. Like grrr

      This whole process can definitely feel like a lot, just take it one step at a time🥰 Since my stent was placed (wouldn’t have been able to do that without my angiogram) my life has changed! I’m currently tapered off diamox completely, and my pressure headaches are very rare. Complete 180 from my life before, and would 💯 do all the surgeries again to feel this good

    So is losing weight your option? I weight 191 im 5 ft . they didnt give me much time to lose weight but. But the doctor said he is not forcing me he is giving me the option to lose weight but if i lose weight and i end up going blind in both eyes itll be too late or if i am in the process of losing weight i could go blind and itll be too late. So far it was my right eye mainly peripheral (deep right corner ) that is black or dark. So i think im going to try weight loss i dont get any headaches or migraines anymore . i was on topomax. My presure back in feb was at 30 something. So idk if i want to do the surgery i want to try weight loss then surgery. I got a planet fitness membership just last night.

    Were you only in the ICU because of your incident with the pulling and bleeding or is that normal?

    • @JaymeeCisneros
      @JaymeeCisneros  3 года назад

      Our hospital requires overnight stay after a stent to ensure there are no complications, I guess if there were any major issues you would know within that time. I feel my overall hospital stay was how they routinely do this procedure, with maybe the exception of consistency checking my artery opening to ensure it didn’t reopen and applying light pressure to make sure it wouldn’t bleed.
