I think it would work if it was slower...he just rattles off a bunch of random shit which has nothing to do with the song. Might work for another song but not this one...it's like creating a masterpiece and calling some untalented piece of shit to come in and take a dump on your masterpiece. So sad that people made untalented rappers famous. IMO very few rappers have actual talent. Like maybe 8....ever.
i definitely like this version more than the rap version, J.I.D admittedly does a great job with that part but in my opinion it just sort of interrupts the song, completely changes the direction and messes with the flow, especially the end where the instrumental just sort of goes silent while the rap continues for some reason, this version doesn’t really have any of those issues since this is how imagine dragons intended the song to be, and the verse is pretty good on its own aswell.
The beat going away isn’t an issue.. it’s part of the song. It’s the climactic moment of the verse and personally, it cutting away to booming back along with the singing is stellar.
In my opinion I like this more not because I don't like the rap, but the lyrics match more with the arcane story, I recommend watching it, you don't need to play LoL to understand, it's a masterpiece. I cried and you get a different vibe when you listen after Arcane
I actually agree on that one, i prefer JID's version but this one is focused on the show, The she cannot be he cannot be they cannot be changed part is about Jinx, Silco and The council which is actually insane, On the other hand JID's verse is also awesome cuz if you would watch the music video he's talking about how he can relate to powder.
It's hard for this to even be an argument... Since JID's rap can't be understood. It's just a default win for this version since the other one is incomprehensible without looking up the lyrics online I saw some comments saying that JID's lyrics fit better, well maybe it can be an argument if we could actually understand what he's singing lol
@XVERETT BEATS JID is literally the only bad part of this song. one of the first things i did was search for a version without him/her. its insane just how much better this version is.
Because this version was only on RUclips music, which I'm pretty sure was a mistake by whoever uploaded it and they just chose the wrong version. The JID version is the one available on pretty much all streaming services, and the one used for the Arcane animation on the League/Imagine Dragons channel. It's a really obscure version of the song, so a lot of people don't know it even exists.
This version is so, so so much better! I'll never understand why nowadays everyone thinks it's necessary to cram a couple verses of low quality rap in anything they release.
jids rap definitely wasnt low quality, it was filled with double entendres and while it may have not suited the song as well, it was definitely an amazing verse on its own
The rap in this version fits better with arcane. Such as "the powers at play" line and talking about how love is a basses. Jus like how powder thinks about relationships. Also in the rap we hear about how some people had a rough child hood.
omg i looove this version. i really like both!! i heard this one first, then sort of didn't find it on tidal (spotify alternative). thought i had just imagined (dragon'd) the whole thing until i finally thought of searching on youtube! i am a happy human today for this. thanks for uploading!!

I like how people be complaining about the JID rap yet this dude is still fucking rapping. People be thinking backwards bro. I for one enjoy both versions.
The problem isn't that there's rapping. The problem is that JID completely ruins the flow of the song. The rapping he does goes against the instruments and tone of the song. It's too much of a tonal whiplash for it to be good.
the rap is good too, but i love the solo bridge. it also makes it much clearer what the song is “really” about - the struggle of being lgbt+ or an ally and the pain of not being accepted, leading to leaving your parents or in imagine dragons case leaving the mormon community

Thanks, I wanted this song to play at the gym, but the rap part is so anticlimactic
truth
you look like henry cavill
Don't do the rap if it's hard for you
@@patakireka4432 thanks lol, wish it was true in real life tho😅
I love this better than the one with the rap. You're not alone.
The beat going away isn’t an issue.. it’s part of the song. It’s the climactic moment of the verse and personally, it cutting away to booming back along with the singing is stellar.
Also JID said himself that Imagine Dragons reached out to him, so technically the version with him is the one that’s intended iirc.
@@novaismajin I can see why you’d say that, I just personally enjoy the song more without it
You're wrong imagine dragons worked with jid and he fits perfectly
Man. This version is so f....g amazing. Better than the other one . Definitely. Wow. I love it.
The best version, ever!!!
This is my favorite version, thank you for posting it!
@@Adoboyapemoff yes, I agree 👍
It's hard for this to even be an argument... Since JID's rap can't be understood. It's just a default win for this version since the other one is incomprehensible without looking up the lyrics online
I saw some comments saying that JID's lyrics fit better, well maybe it can be an argument if we could actually understand what he's singing lol
awesome, thank you for posting it
With or without rap, this is awesome af.
Realshit i recently got my gf to watch it and i forget how good it all is
YESSS! I’ve been waiting so long for someone to take out the rap :) I honestly ❤this version
JID made the song from a 10 to a 7 prove me wrong
more like from a 7 to a 2 tbh
A 7 is pretty generous. He really ruined it.
@XVERETT BEATS JID is literally the only bad part of this song. one of the first things i did was search for a version without him/her. its insane just how much better this version is.
@XVERETT BEATS
lmao, you're very wrong, but that's okay, sometimes we gotta learn we're wrong, before we realize it.
These are opinions so both parts a re good in different ways
This is the better version for sure. Shame this has hardly any views compaired to the rap version.
I just found this version, I’m sure most people just look up the song and click the first one that pops up and aren’t aware of this one
because the rap one is more well known lmao
Because this version was only on RUclips music, which I'm pretty sure was a mistake by whoever uploaded it and they just chose the wrong version. The JID version is the one available on pretty much all streaming services, and the one used for the Arcane animation on the League/Imagine Dragons channel. It's a really obscure version of the song, so a lot of people don't know it even exists.
this version is also on spotify but it is very hidden so most people probably didnt know
I mean, music videos get at least 10-30 times the views of the raw song, so yeah
thank you so much, I was wondering if I was the only one who didn't like the rap part :3
This version is so, so so much better! I'll never understand why nowadays everyone thinks it's necessary to cram a couple verses of low quality rap in anything they release.
jids rap definitely wasnt low quality, it was filled with double entendres and while it may have not suited the song as well, it was definitely an amazing verse on its own
this versions is a lot better than the original, thanks dude
This is the original 👌🧐
Finally, a version with no trash rap.
Ok gramps
The lyrics that replaced JID makes so much more sense
Both version is fire. Thank you for upload !
much better only Imagine Dragons
now is perfect
This is the best version defintively
The rap in this version fits better with arcane. Such as "the powers at play" line and talking about how love is a basses. Jus like how powder thinks about relationships. Also in the rap we hear about how some people had a rough child hood.
Yea maybe if they got a rapper that fit the song. JID was completely out of place and ruins the vibe
@@h4yasekit Agreed rap is fine and all but the pace didn't fit the song at all. ,_ ,
At least in my opinion it didn't.
Tbh tho JID part fits ekko more stylistically.
I think jid did an amazing job tho. His part is my favorite I just cant find an extended version
Very sadge
Yup thank god there's this version, the rap is horrendous.
This version is so much better than that mumble rap crap they added. The flow just falls tf apart. This is MUCH better.
can you listen to a few songs off the forever story for me
omg i looove this version. i really like both!! i heard this one first, then sort of didn't find it on tidal (spotify alternative).
thought i had just imagined (dragon'd) the whole thing until i finally thought of searching on youtube! i am a happy human today for this.

justo como la quería, muchas gracias!
Finally a masterpiece
True
Now it's perfect
Not a fan of rap but unpopular opinion i think it adds to the song, yeah the "he can not be, she cant not be, they can not be changed" is good but rap adds alot too the song aswell, glad we have both versions tho
I like both version’s of the song but this has a better and smoother drop
it's so much better without rap. honestly, even rap is better without rap

I wake up to the sounds of the silence that allows,
For my mind to run around,
With my ear up to the ground,
I'm searching to behold the stories that are told.
When my back is to the world,
There was smiling when I turned,
Tell you you're the greatest,
But once you turn they hate us,
Oh, the misery!
Everybody wants to be my enemy!
Spare the sympathy...
Everybody wants to be... (My enemy!)

But I'm ready :)
Your words up on the wall as you're praying for my fall,
And the laughter in the halls and the names that i've been called,

2:12 perfect timing for ringtone
To me the rap part is fine at first but the ending part just gets really awkward and doesn’t fit. The rest of it works but once the music kinda cuts out and it sounds like the same thing being repeated over and over it just sounds… wrong? Ig
ik, the rap is so "weird" at the end-
Yeah when the music stops and JID keeps going for a bit at the end it just makes the song feel uncomfortable
the better version, change my mind
Ah yes, the good version.
It's too much of a tonal whiplash for it to be good.
the verse is good it doesnt fit in though

the rap is good too, but i love the solo bridge. it also makes it much clearer what the song is “really” about - the struggle of being lgbt+ or an ally and the pain of not being accepted, leading to leaving your parents or in imagine dragons case leaving the mormon community
Honestly the "pray it away" part is the best part in this song. I like this version 1000% more.
Don’t hate the guy. Just this kind of music doesn’t need rap

me personally, i rlly dislike most rap, so this version is MUCH better imo
