incredibly helpful video. The cost of labor to have this repaired was actually going to be more thin the parts. The details in this video make all the difference. Thank you
We had the same issue a few years ago and for the cost of this repair we opted to just purchase a new unit. But if I’m feeling handy I now know how to do it!!! Thanks!!
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate you putting this video together! It allowed me to fix my MasterTemp 400 (which began leaking after a freeze back in 2021). Luckily, it was just the manifold that cracked, and I found a used one on Amazon for like $53 plus tax. Pretty amazing that I could repair this heater for such a low price! (and in the process, save myself $4-5 thousand dollars by not needing to buy a new one 😁).
Great video!! Quick question though - is it ok to use pool lube on the 12 Coil/Tubesheet Sealing o-rings, manifold gasket, or thermal regulator cap o-ring?
To answer my own question, according to an experienced pool repairman I spoke with, it is not necessary to put lube on the coil/tubesheet o-rings or the manifold gasket (not sure about the thermal regulator cap o-ring though). If you do decide to use lube, he said to make sure it's silicone-based - but as I said, I didn't use any lube on mine, and I have no leaks after reassembling the manifold.

Great Video. Can you provide a link to a new heater core and tank (Pentair MasterTemp 250)???
Let me know if you ever found the part, I'm in the exact same situation
That’s a new heater core? Why not just get the soot out of the old one?
What is a p5 err
Mine is completely rusted out, and I will need a whole new unit.
Where is the best place order a "Mastertemp 250"? Thanks in advance.
Thankyou
All of the wires in the heater are labeled and cut to length, so no biggie if you don’t take a picture.
