Thank you for posting this video. I am trying to find my fathers family records somewhere in the south. I have done many years of research on many other subjects and found good useful information while doing it. As I look for records of my fathers family it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Thanks again for this video, I might be able to pick up pieces of my fathers family records. Where there is a will there is a way. Be well.
I found the marriage bond/certificate of my maternal Great Great Great grandparents who were listed as 1/8th Black in Craven County 1860. What does that mean?
@@wrightgroupinsurance Lol 😂 Let be more clearer. I get the Octaroon label but were they free as enslaved individuals marriages weren’t recognized/legal before ‘65. Just trying to understand it all.
@@londab6489 @Londa B I'm researching the same thing. I know my great-great-grandfather lived in NC by way of Virginia. Nothing showing they were ever slaves. Lil frustrating at times LoL😁😁😁😁
Hassle family? Well idk if I can help but my Ancestors includes the Hassles of Saba in the Caribbean in the West Indies & they owned over 800 slaves from Africa that’s Documented. Oddly I also am from & live in North Carolina. My Ancestors ( the Hassles) did own many slaves in the Caribbean among other Ancestors of the Caribbean, but I don’t think my Family ( Hassles) came to NC with their slaves. In fact… my family developed & civilized the Island of Saba, and we still own that Island to this day. So check out Saba bc I know that a lot of my family were Hassles and had many slaves in Saba. Hope this helps!
