Scapegoat613 Not a burn at all. Listen, we like the track and I am sorry if some people think it's too dominant. We spittin' that hot fiya and we need the beat. All the people who whining about some music need to post up THIER contribution of knowledge and information to the masses. I would love to learn something too.
Hey there ! I also have to ad my 5 cents to the topic as an airsoft saw gunner for last 4 years. Of course my point of view is different by the other character of tasks that my team is fulfilling. My team is focused on deep recon and infiltration sorties, therefore we have to put everything we can on weight. From out of my gun I removed Bipod, gas regulator, upper rails system, swapped Para barrel to Mk46 and buy a collapsible stock. it is the lightest possible configuration of a Minimi that is available with rails system. I see some differences in rules of milsims in US and Poland. We are not allowed to have free bb on the field or we can have little storage (like 400-500 bb), there for I have to carry 5 boxes only to have amount of 10000 rounds for say 48-60 hours of constant operating. I totally agree that a gunner cant be a sloppy back laying man, I'm always training with my 249 like all others with M4 and DMR. Still the gunner have to utilize his firepower capabilities to secure suppresive fire when rest of his squad is advancing. Behind enemy lines line gunner cant be last, but it cant be first, I always stand as third out of six. That's all I would like to ad. Peace...just kidding...
If you guys want a support weapon that is as similar to an M4 as possible, why not use an M27? It is almost exactly the same as an M4. It can shoot semi, so it can be used indoors, it uses the same magazines, and most "Milsim" event's classify it as a full auto legal LMG.
I use a SAW for airsoft, and I've developed a slightly different view of how the support role works. The way I see it, the support gun is meant to do two basic things: create a permissive environment for your team (make it easier to maneuver), and create a non-permissive environment for the other guys. You should be to the middle/ rear of the most aggressive members of your team and looking for places where you can cover them. Also, I think the volume of the gun is a good thing. They're going to find you anyway if you don't change your position enough, and a louder gun is intimidating (which helps with the non-permissive environment thing). My SAW shoots around 320 fps. The range is only about 200 ft, but if that's all you need then a good hopup should give you more range then a strong spring. Also, the weapon absolutely does dictate how you play because it's 20 stinking pounds. If this is such a good idea, then why aren't support guns used like this in the real world?
Actually, I think the real SAW weighs 20lb unloaded. The airsoft one weighs 20lb loaded, so depending on how much 200 rounds of 5.56 weighs, the difference might not be that great. I don't really care enough to do the research, but it would be interesting to see what the numbers say. Edit: okay, I lied. :) I couldn't resist. The real SAW actually does weigh about 20 lb with the 200 rd. box mag. That's surprising; I thought it was a bit heavier.
Hate, hate, hate. Everybody is critic. Great insight for players/teams learning the game. I've played against you and all I can say is that your very passionate, honorable and you respect the game.
Glad you guys are back around . Was a huge Follower a few years back and then you all kinda dissapeard . Glad to see you all back . Keep up the great work . I got into airsoft after watchin you alls videos sometime back .. what i wouldnt give to play with or against you guys . haha . stay safe guys
They said in their podcast that they don't really like it for its version 2 gearbox which isn't really a saw type gearbox so it would probably break faster
For the people that are wondering the m60 is not bad at all to rock. I ran it at a outdoor game tracking through the snow and it was not bad at all. And that thing puts rounds down range and accurately also
I was thinking about running an RPK for theses reasons , I would run a m27 but most game control does not recognize the m27 as a support weapon and will not let you run a box mag . The rpk is recognized so a drum mag can be used and I feel is the closest to size and weight of an assault rifle.
I agree with you, Ronin, and incidentally, my logistical geographics are very similar to the ones you shoot in as well. I see a lot of airsoft people (and groups) that limit their strategy (and therefor the info they pass along to others) based upon 1 or 2 specific types of terrain scenarios they roll in {this includes *how* a person fires the weapon}. I think people often forget several factors, specifically concerning the SAW systems. 1) individual fitness level. (can the person carry a SAW & the ammo required for extended periods) 2) Topography/location changes everything (.SAW's are nearly useless indoors, whereas they rock n roll in an outdoor field or woodland setting.) 3) Overall completion & variety (CQB-DMR/MID-SUP-LR Sniper-ART/ORD) of team weapon systems & roles for solid mil strategy. 4) The specific rules associated with a venue. 5) The individual desire to not just show up, but to enjoy every aspect of the sport.
2149marine lmao...meanwhile, as Rambo hipfires...walmart gun kids w/ CQB zero'd red dots are sitting him out w/ good tactics. But in the woods or field, they DO rock. All in good fun.
That helps a lot. This video really gives good insight on how this weapon should be used. Can you make a video about that back panel of your jpc? Thanks
Very insightful video guys. It's nice to hear the mindset behind your equipment and tactics. Also props on designing that new pack. I was pretty excited to see the Haley Flat pack but I'm liking your version more.
If you guys consider using a SAW type weapon in the future I would recommend going with the M27 IAR. It's based off the HK416 design and uses M4 mags allowing for team members to share mags if needed which I'm sure would suit your teams style based on what I've seen from you guys. The only real downside I can think of is the fact you may have to use some sort of hi-cap mag if you wish to have a higher mag capacity. We personally switched to the M27 IAR and stopped using the M249. Just a suggestion. :)
I dont have much respect for GMR cause they have a bad rep but holy shit Ronin gives great advice. Gotta respect his love for airsoft and wanting to help budding teams
Nice input on MG theory you have. I don't know if this is sad or not but in Finland MGs are not that mobile as they are allowed to have more power - they can't be used too close. Other hand they have range and power that other guns lack and van be used to puncture dense bushes or to give realy effiecient covering fire.
Hey quick question. Do you all share a small building or something for airsoft? Just wondering because I see all of the gear back there and I have to say it looks sick as hell!
Nice video, nice idea for the magazine, btw did you connected magazine to motor so it feeds on trigger pull?(and its feed by battery?) does it keep up with upgraded internals?
This was pretty helpful. I have a P* SAW, and I've been having kind of a weird time figuring out how and when to utilize it. Plus the mag situation has been funky to figure out, though I think I'm gonna go with a 200rd box like this with that hatch, because the MAG nutsack I've been using is just too difficult to reload, I've actually suppressed guys with noise alone because I didn't have the will to hike back and undergo the arduous reload.
Did you guys rewire your battery to the box mag? I just got my CA mk46 and it's wired to a m4 crane stock. I'd prefer a SAW type collapsible stock but I don't think those fit batteries.
my m60 i got for cheap and stripped as many things off as possible i put a tactical grip w push button bipod plastic. no rails nothing really light and packs a punch also fully upgraded
Which M240B is that? I hear the Echo 1 was the best but apparently they discontinued them :( can only seem to find the Matrix or the Lancer Tactical and idk about those...
Quick question: do you guys buy weapons as a group so everyone can use them ? Or everyone has his own personal stuff ? I was in a group, yars ago, where every 4 months we'd collect a bit of money from each one of our members (like 5$ or so) and at the end of the year all the money we raised were spent on buying weapons. We had our "group armory" and every day we'd choose who would use what depending on the field and tactics we were going to use. Only "personal" gear were camos, backpacks, that kind of stuff and sidearms. Primary ones were "unit's property"
What is your opinion on the version 2 krytac lmg "shrike" i have the limited edition and i like the fact that it takes m4 mags i want to know would your team ever considered using this weapon
Great video guys, like always! Why are you not running polarstar or high ROF m4s instead? You could have the same rate of fire ( maybe even more ) and keep the same fire power by using a box mag for m4. Also, you could still use it to clear rooms, just put it to semi and if needed, put the drum mag in your backpack and use your mid caps...
I'm interested to know what you guys think of something more along the lines of a designated marksman. Not a sniper, but a DM who rolls with the squad and provides a bit of a range extension to the squad.
It's airsoft... Not saying there is not a benefit to a Scout/Sniper role in a large scale game, but day to day ops in Urban Environment, I don't think there is a great benefit. I would rather have that marksman in the formation pushing objectives and being another gun in the fight.
fighting17chicago - I suppose it would have to be how you run it, but an aggressive marksman can drive just as well as a rifleman. Maybe not in CQB, but certainly in field.
We never really bought into the whole DMR setup because the pros don't outweigh the cons. extra weight, long range glass, fps engagement limits and overall feel of the rifle just doesn't add up. It looks ill, but doesn't really translate to how we play woodland. team tactics kinda beats that setup and allows us to get close and put effective fire where needed. You can make anything work with the right approach.
In airsoft the best tactics for a MG is the German ww2 tactics suppression of the enemy and have the rifle men pushing the enemy to the MG it works stupid effectively
Also, I kept seeing something that looked like a AOR2 back panel in the gear pile when you were showing off the guns. Any chance of those being mass produced for sale any time soon? (even if its not in that particular color)
also another question, how do you sling, if you do the M249 and the MK46?? do you use a single point sling at the back? or did you get the two point sling and if you did how do you attach it to the front of the gun?
thnk u for this... Treat my Mk46 like an M4. awesome. One question, what kind of 2 point sling shud I use? obviously I wont be able to carry the gun all day.
Going along with what you said about treating your support weapon as if it were any other rifle, that's why they called the MK46/M249 an automatic rifle and not a machine gun. It's intended to be able to keep up with the rest of your fireteam, and that's why they're very rarely used in a support by fire position. So what I'm saying is...you're concepts on the SAW is correct lol
As a saw gunner I can attest to the idea of making your saw as much like an m4 as possible and the mk46 platform is best for that. The removal of the bipod is the biggest problem I have with the machine gun theory, the ability to deploy the bipod when laying down or fixing the gun/box mag in the field is an invaluable asset. Plus something that was barely mentioned in the video was that a saw is two to three times the weight of an m4 type platform. And if you pick up an "m249 improved bipod" on eBay, you can run a grip even when the bipod is folded up. Just some things that came to mind, as always, great video. Picture is an improved bipod in use with the 75th Ranger Regiment. farm8.staticflickr.com/7434/16186752710_b19a2f355f_b.jpg
We had many of them in the past, the real steel ones...busted them all. And again it's like having a crutch. If you have a bipod it means you will be inclined to use it, stay in one place and not keep up with the flow of the team. Once we take away that option it forces the guys to use their upper body as the total support system and keep it moving. As far as the weight, its just something you have to get used to and come up a lil bit. Beach season is coming.
The video / dude is very informative, thank you. Question. How do you guys run a mil-sim reloading? For instance, do each member in the squad carry a spare box (bag-o-BB's) for the weapon?
Just give me a standard S.A.W and this Devil Dog will show y'all how to utilize a 249. Looks I need to get the team back together and reenter the realm of Airsoft. GMR seems like a bunch of Tacticool guys but not entirely Strategical inclined. Can't wait to meet these guys on the field in the hopeful near future :)
Hey GMR keep up the great vids you got me into airsoft and gave me encouragement to go towards milsim. A tip I have is make shorter vids like 5-8 mins and do parts so you have a vid every two days or so thanks.
Hey dude, thanks for the input. I guess to us the wealth of information that we have accumulated on various subjects in the 15 years of playing comes pouring out when we film, it's hard for me to make a short video on things as complex as a full weapon system. I would feel I was short changing myself and the viewer by not passing on ALL the key points of mention and consideration. Most people pumping out airsoft videos are for self-grandizing or trying to promote their employer. We make videos in an effort to pass on knowledge and try and change people's perceptions. 25 mins of pure fiya right here. Enjoy the labor of love.
Quick piece of constructive criticism, lower the volume on the back ground music. I felt like it over powered the actual talking a little bit.
If it's too loud, then you're too old.

Yeah, no thats dumb if you think about it

Plz lower the volume of the background music. Other than that great video!

Would love to see a updated version of this video!
airsoft is love, GMR is life
Thats a great move cutting a hole in the right side of the box mag. Did that to one of mine and it makes a world of difference.
"this is the 240b, this is a big fucking gun"
music is Ready or not by fugees instrumental
This was really good insight into the SAW role. I run my PKM in a similar aggressive fashion, scares the multicam off the OpFor.

I like how you build a loading breach on the big mag.
Have you guys thought of using the Stoner LMG scince its made to be lightweight and m4-like?
They said in their podcast that they don't really like it for its version 2 gearbox which isn't really a saw type gearbox so it would probably break faster
Ahh I can see what they mean I used one before it seems flimsy
Thank's for posting these videos, i enjoy every second of them! Greets from Poland GMR's!
Are you going to update you website? Rosters, kit ect....👍
I feel a website update is certainly needed. It's so old and janky.
For the people that are wondering the m60 is not bad at all to rock. I ran it at a outdoor game tracking through the snow and it was not bad at all. And that thing puts rounds down range and accurately also
It’s a force multiplier that’s the way a ranger chalk or really any small sof unit would use this platform
Hey very good vid. Hadn't checked out your stuff for years and I'm glad to see you're still out there having fun!

I dont have much respect for GMR cause they have a bad rep but holy shit Ronin gives great advice. Gotta respect his love for airsoft and wanting to help budding teams
First clip was at stratcom in ct!
Ayeee

Do you play at tactical airsoft in windsor?
havnt got a chance i live in middletown so its far away... but i played at cromwell cqb
Do you have a instagram?
you guys going to the airsoft gi event in VA
I love this gun it is one of the best guns to use
Could you make a video on the back panels visible on the back of your JPCs and visible on the shelves in different parts of the vid?
Locke Taylor the Minimaps?
Great video and dude your beard is getting EPIC more videos like this please I love them
Question.. why not use polarstar?
Could you guys make a video on your thoughts about the DMR role?
why no rpk? i know its not like an m4 but still a great support gun
Hi Ronin, what are you guys using to put the blue number things on the guns? Did you use paint markers or some sort of sticker? Thanks in advance!
Nice input on MG theory you have. I don't know if this is sad or not but in Finland MGs are not that mobile as they are allowed to have more power - they can't be used too close. I am going to cry myself to sleep every night until those GMR MAP packs are released and I get one :'(
Where are they going to sell them? On their site?
Justin Spencer The GMR Gear Minimaps will be on our site, gmrgear.com when they are released. We are looking at next week for an announcement.
***** thank you good sir
Hey quick question. Do you all share a small building or something for airsoft? Just wondering because I see all of the gear back there and I have to say it looks sick as hell!
What surefire does the Marui tracer fit in? And are you using the new or oldschool marui tracer?
nvm, I thought I recognized it. Trigger Happy Suppressor.

Hey gmr how many uniforms do you have . And what is the best color best for every color
You all are playing the right music, ;)
could you make a vid on how to make the miss feed mod for the box mags please
Did you guys rewire your battery to the box mag? I just got my CA mk46 and it's wired to a m4 crane stock. I'd prefer a SAW type collapsible stock but I don't think those fit batteries.
Kinda sucks they quit making the systema ptw. Was gonna buy one because they aren't horribly expensive but I saw they weren't there.

my m60 i got for cheap and stripped as many things off as possible i put a tactical grip w push button bipod plastic. no rails nothing really light and packs a punch also fully upgraded

awesome video and extremely foot timing as im about to get my hands on a M249 para, could you show how to make the paint job you have on your MK46?
also another question, how do you sling, if you do the M249 and the MK46?? do you use a single point sling at the back? or did you get the two point sling and if you did how do you attach it to the front of the gun?

Nice video we want some game play footage GMR GMR sfs
hey highreadyclips i have a question am not sure what i shuld choose a carbine or cqb to outdoor only
what brand of saw do you guys use with the collapsable stock? ive only ever seen the A&K one
I wonder how GMR gets their AOR1 gear.
I wish i could buy Crye AOR1 lol (ik they use Blackhawk AOR1)
Devin Fallout If you have the money buy it on Ebay, thats where the people I know who have it got theirs

Where did you get the new m248 bipod at?
RoT Airsoft ebay is the only place you'll find them
Paintjob of the m60, any tutorial Vídeo plz? Its a worn sand...or?
its natural that burner got its paint job like 10 years ago
Where do you go to airsoft?
Excellent.. From London England! peace out!
Love the video, but could you turn the music down a bit could barely hear you! I know this video is old but still like the advice and video overall!
Driving me crazy what is the title of that music? Good info enjoyed the video.
Hey ronin this is gonna sound dumb but can I buy one of your patches
The video / dude is very informative, thank you. Question. How do you guys run a mil-sim reloading? For instance, do each member in the squad carry a spare box (bag-o-BB's) for the weapon?
Use a m27 IAR its a support weapon and is like a 416
"This is a big ass fucking gun"

bro what is the song name for this fire beat
srry but do i see a mesh helmet?? if so i want one bro where did you get that or whats it called. great video btw
Hahahaha
+HighReadyClips you guys inspired me so i created my own group called the U.S.S.A.F. Maybe we can ally up (btw I am 12)
Nice video, is that a new helmet I see?
"make sure your SAW is as close to an m4 as possible" I play with a g36, I'm a SAW gunner using an mg36 kek
