Question for you. Is there wood in the hull construction of these boats? I know there's some wood trim pieces, but anything structural? I ask because I'm looking at one.
Sorry for the late response. Yes there is wood in some of the floorboard areas and paneling and the 4x5 foot transom section where the sterndrive and inner transom housing workings are. Most of the hull is fiberglass and very solid, like a tank!
I’m looking at injecting epoxy into the soft areas. I just need to find out if the wood in the floor has fiberglass on both sides so this process can be used. Do you know.?
I’m not sure. I know that the fuel tank cover has some sort of fiberglass on the bottom but it’s not white like the clearcoat that the deck and the outside of the hull has.
I have the exact same boat. I have soft spots I need to fix. I’ll probably just put some hatches in set some supports in. Have you found a forum for us?
Kim Kietzman I don’t know about windows, I just caulked around the outside of the cabin windows to keep the water out. I have soft spots as well, but the floor is still plenty solid. I usually go on thehulltruth for boating and repair advice and forums.
Sheldon, have you seen info on floor refurbishment on the bluefin 821?
No sir. Mine has some soft spots but the boat is so solid I haven’t worried about it.
I need cabin windows. Any ideas?
Kim Kietzman maybe you can remove the old windows, sawzall the cavities bigger and install bigger windows
