Odishi is full body mudra and expressions, unlike any other dance form of Bharat. One can simply say it is culmination of all the classical dance form of Bharat.
I saw a group of dancers perform this dance as a part of the Hare Krishna festival in Venice beach CA this past summer. I absolutely love every part of the dance the rhythm of the instruments , the graceful elegant movement of the dancers, and the lyrics of the song! Indian culture is a gem
Amazing is the inner happiness expressed here. No western dancer whatever her capacity can reach this beauty of expression. To my opinion it is the mentality of all western languages which block the entry to the basic spirit by which Indian dances are performed. And we feel the inner beauty of Indian dances as performed by celestial influence.
This is well expressed. The western form of dance as their languages miss the spirituality preserved in India, the Mother of all nations, still divided.
I had the same reaction when i was first exposed to that dance from India watching Myriam another dancer. There is something profound that ties us to long ago maybe thousands of year that we seem to remember with these smiles and movements.

Beautiful young Lady dancing an spiritual dance divinely! What a lovely facial expression she is introducing during her dancing performance. Just amazing! 🌷😊
Some friends were discussing this, as which Indian classical dance style is older, whether Bharatnatyam or Odissi.... Whichever the older is btw, both the forms are equally exquisite, exceptional and engaging. And they both are yet Hindu and Indian. ODISSI has SMOOTH rhythm, reminiscent of the WAVES of the sea. It's GRACEFULNESS and SCULPTURESQUE vibe is unparalleled in the Indian Dance Family. BHARATNATYAM has a VIGOROUS approach. It has an ANGULAR beauty. It's GEOMETRIC charn is the definition of the TECHNICAL dance. KATHAK is the most DIVERGENT and DEVIANT gem of the Indian classical world; it's MATHEMATICAL footwork and EQUILIBRIZING spins are mesmerizing. AND it's the ONLY classical dance that can do perfect justice to both HINDI Bhajans and URDU Ghazals equally. My personal fav is KUCHIPUDI, the vigorous-extreme. Even MOHINIYATTAM is enchanting and SATTRIYA, MANIPURI, KATHAKALI and other theatre oriented (and still other) classical dances are great in their own right too. Now, if we really try to explore the topic of the oldness of a classical Indian dance form, which on a larger scale of 'Common Indian Heritage' is a pretty LESS IMPORTANT of a thing, we come across many hurdles. The most significant hindrance being, how can we say with certainty that the proofs of oldness we harbouring, are the PRIMORDIAL PROOFS themselves? There could still be even older of the proofs, they are not out, that doesn't mean they aren't present or they might have got destroyed due to the blow of time. In other words, AVAILABLE proofs MIGHT NOT be the OLDEST and STILL OLDER proofs might be OBSCURE or DESTROYED, so in the first case we would have to wait for them to be discovered, in the second scenario, we aren't lucky enough to savour the truth, we would never know FOR SURE. I am personally inclined towards the opinion that Bharatnatyam is PROBABLY the older since Dravidian culture and language is older than Kalinga culture and language. However, its just an ASSUMPTION. IF Bharatnatyam gets the distinction of the older form, Odissi is the one most adherent to Natyashastra. SO both have unique qualities and are EQUALLY great. Anyways guys, we should be more focal on carrying, developing n propagating our Music and then introducing n transmitting it to our next generations. We shouldn't let it go for the second time. Many things need our attention, like authentically reviving and resurrecting lost traditions (esp of north and west India), working on the development of Oudra-Magadhi and Maharashtrian vocal music as the legit separate branches in classical style, deciphering older texts on music, recomposing lost musical grammar, trying to get classical status to Mahari dance of Odisha ("the mother dance of the Odissi") and many more such causes. Also I would urge y'all to support newly revived forms in any which way possible, like PERINI NATYAM, VILASINI NATYAM, ANDHRA NATYAM, KERALA NADANAM, GAUDIYA NRITYA, Bharat NRITYAM ("the other Bharatnatyam") and the latest ASSAMESE DEVADASI DANCE.
