Hello! I have a monthly Wildcard tarot deck prompt jar, which I created after seeing a booktube video. I use prompts, which I created, to select a wildcard deck to work with monthly. It's a lot of fun! 😊 Here are a few prompt ideas 😊 Read with a deck with the Empress card on the box. Read with the deck that is 7th from the left on your tarot shelf. Read with a deck that you associate with the colour《insert colour here》 Read with a deck that comes with a little white book Happy New Year to you! 🎉✨️
Hi Marlene! This sounds like such a fun way to pick a deck. Read a deck that is on your time out shelf, and then do a video comparing that deck to something similar you have. 💖💖 Happy new year!!🎉🎉
A fancy/expensive/beautiful deck that you don't use often/save for special occasions -if you have any. Or a deck that you have not used in over a year/put off using/thinking of rehoming. Sounds fun, good luck! 😊
i love the jar idea! hopefully no one has said this yet but an easy way to fill a bunch of prompts (and my favourite way to pick decks) is with colours! "find a deck that is mainly/feels very [insert colour here]" you could pick main rainbow colours, basic palettes (neutral, warm, cool, monotone etc) or whatever else fits your fancy! would be fun to see how tarot and oracle of same or even different colours interact!
I deck where hands play a major role in the art or you notice the hands a lot within the deck. A deck that works great for big card spreads or you only use it for bigger spreads. A deck that always makes you laugh out loud.
Great idea! Some suggested prompts: Favorite Black and White Tarot Deck, Tarot Deck that Feels Like a Warm and Cozy Hug, Non-seasonal Deck You Can Use All Year, Deck Your Teenage Self Would Love, A Deck for Dark Days, Deck that’s Amazing for Love Readings, Deck that Always Makes You Laugh/Smile, Oracle Deck that Just Gets You, Deck You Thought You Wouldn’t Like but Do, Dusty Deck You Never/Rarely Reach For, Guilty Pleasure Deck.
Ooo Marlene I just posted a video with a reading challenge with prompts for every month. Please feel free to add all 12 prompts to the jar I would love to watch and see if one comes out. And of course I will be using books and decks with my prompts too. But no pressure at all of course and looking forward to seeing what you get over the year and yes to mixing books snd tarot ❤❤❤❤❤
But if you didn’t feel ok doing that let’s think of additional prompts The sleezy co worker at Christmas party deck The summer picnic under a tree deck The family member who triggers you deck The dream version of your best self deck The I can’t be bothered with anything anymore deck lol I could go on and on but i will stop 😂❤
I think the trilogy is The Broken Earth by N.K. Jemisin. One of my fav. trilogies ever! prompts: a deck with unusual keywords a deck with titles in a language different from English or French a deck by an author (or artist) from Asia (or Europe) a deck you read differently from how it was intended (for example you changed the order, cut off the keywords or ignore it's system etc..) a deck that forces you to think out of the box
you can do a deck that starts with a particular letter (or go through the alphabet) a deck with a particular color on the box a deck without a guidebook smallest deck biggest deck a deck that makes you think of _____. (love, nature, astral realms, a family member, etc.)
Ooooh I have the Cosmic Oracle on my list. I will pull it forward to take a closer look at because I backed the new RWS from Manzel! Could be cool. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these!
Oooh. For February, read with a deck that feels like a decadent dessert-like dipping into a box of chocolates. 🍫 I was sitting here shuffling The Fountain Tarot while I was watching this. I haven’t read with it in 3+ years and I’ve even tried to rehome it, but here we are for January! I’m struggling to find an oracle deck that I feel pairs nicely with it…maybe it just wants to be the star of its own show. Happy new year! Thanks for sharing. 😊
I LOVE this idea!! I'm going to copy it 😆 Prompt: Use a deck that inspires your senses! And maybe not just sight, since all cards have images, but maybe for that sense, a deck you can instantly transport yourself to that world. Or a deck that has a card that you instantly hear a sound, smell and smell, or you can imagine exactly how the image would feel tactilely.
You mention enjoying Afrofuturism...have you seen that Nnedi Okorafor has a new book coming out this January? It's called "Death of the Author". ❤ For a prompt, how about: Read with the deck that reminds you most of your favorite literary character.
"Feeling the meanings" is exactly how I love to read Tarot and decks that require that are just top winners in my book. 😊 I'm here for the unconventional decks! Thanks for sharing!
Maybe a deck that just completely confused you in some way when you first picked it up, such a good idea I might try this for myself once a month, thank you!.
@@denisegoodall232that was me for a good while, now I just enjoy the images 😆 & read it as I see it adding in numerology & colour works good for now which I love as it's a gorgeous deck.
Ooh fun. Read a deck chosen for you from your shelf by the next guest that comes to your home (or, rather, next guest you feel comfortable inviting to participate).
@@MarleneTheresa Oh no credit needed; I have no doubt I am far from the first human to come with anything like this! :) I like your turning it to tarot! (A TBR jar would be way too stressful for me - I would end up like, disobeying it immediately - but I simultaneously find it a fun idea).
Read with a deck you’ve purchased more than once. Read with the deck at the back of your drawer or bottom of your basket. Read with another style of deck (ex: Marseille or Thoth) if you usually read RWS. Read with a deck that makes you smile. Read with the deck you’ve been carrying around with you but haven’t been using for on the go readings. Read with a deck that frustrates you for some reason. Read with a deck for which you have a strong opinion (love, hate, etc) the guidebook. Read with a deck that starts with the initial of your first or last name. Close your eyes and pick a deck at random from your deck storage. Read with a mini deck or deck in a tin. Read with a deck you got secondhand.
I’m not one of those people for whom “weird” is an insult. Better weird than unremarkable or banal, amiright? I can’t be the only one who likes decks BETTER when they’re unusual and/or unique.
When I'm looking for prompts -- for anything really whether journaling or tarot or whatever -- I turn to using my Emily Dickinson Big Book (although lately I've been drawn to the Romantics) as bibliomancy for prompts. Hope this helps! Blessings!
also, my curiosity is on for what is the Emily Dickinson Big Book AND can you suggest any of the Romantics? As I was just thinking of re-reading Dickinson, or maybe exploring more writers from this era.
You could just put the names of the decks, decks with no people, oldest , newest , black and white, animal, oldest , earthy , cozy , hard hitting, blue backs , red backs etc., seasonal, a deck in purgatory. I sent an email the other day. Enjoy ! I'm in the winter storm zone, to all in the same boat take care. 🫂s to all .

Ooh, I hadn't heard of that book, btu will definitely check it out. Thanks!
This was fun (& thanks for the mention 😊)! For your TBR, maybe a "turn back time" deck?
Great prompt, will add it in, thanks!
You marry the two! I imagine most tarot lovers also love books 😆 ❤
There is so much overlap!

Im so glad that makes sense to you too. Yeah, it’s a total experience deck.
Read with only your first tarot and oracle decks.
Maybe a deck that just completely confused you in some way when you first picked it up, such a good idea I might try this for myself once a month, thank you!.
The THOTH deck did that for me, especially the book, totally beyond me!
