Mr. Desmond Dekker is a true pioneer when it comes on to his music.Thank you very much for giving the music that we all can sing and to.His music wll forever lives on.Rest In Peace Mr.Desmond Dekker.
Love the ending. Yeah. After years of playing pubs and small venues a great opportunity for Desmond Dekker to really show how good he was. Respect to Jools Holland. As Desmond said to the end of his life he was the man who had the first rocksteady / reggae no 1 in the UK and top 10 in the US not his old welding mate in Kingston 10. A brilliant tune.
This is the 10 time i watch this live version in 2 days.. It is soo good.. We miss your smile, and you will never be forgotten, you are a true legend Mr. Desmon Dekker and your music lives on.
I used to work in this pub in South London....not saying which one and had the pleasure of serving Mr Dekker on quite a few occasions; great guy... RIP Desmond!!!!
I love this because the audience has no idea how to dance to this. Him and Laurel, kings of Ska. RIP to both of them. long live ska ska ska! skank on rude boys.
OMG, this song is so bananas. I absolutely love it! Desmond Decker, obviously so much older here is doing such a good job with it. I love trying to sing along.
Same step with Marley.. Great reggae freedom artist ever ✌️.. Thx for bring reggae in my life and into a big whitening guy city in Europe 😊 love ya songs 👍👌
i know desmond dekker and prince buster were legends in there life time, and there were also a lot of ska greats, but nobody ever talks about another great legend that had all the greats on his shows and who is a very talented guy him self. yes sir jools hollond what a legend the guy is a master musician.
Seven years ago now, but even in '04 it was just amazing to see Desmond Dekker still giving such a first class performance after over thirty years as the #1 star of ska!
THAT WAS TRULLY GREAT....HAD A BROAD SMILE THHROUGHT THAT SONG....I AGREE ABOUT THE PUPPET AUDIENCE ,....THEY WERE N PRESENCE OF GREATNESS AND DIDN'T KNOW IT...MY ONLY REGRET IS THAT I NEVER SAW DESMOND ''LIVE''....ALTHOUGH I HAD THE OPPERTUNITY
I remember that song from when I was going to queens prep school at that time when that song came out in the 90s By:Mr.Desmond Dekker 007(Shanty Town) when a whole bunch of teachers were dancing on stage to that song 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Don't you bum up de town! What a wonderful timewarp and cup of tea this bloke is. An amazing neverland of ska/reggae/folk that comes from a soul where the sun never sets. Keep on pushing, D.D.
This is just great, great, great. I saw him live in the Wheatsheaf, S-o-T, about 20 years ago, didn't realise it at the time but what a privilege Paula x

That's true, i find myself judging people all the time. Just to compare myself with something. And it's true that's human nature. But it's also true that the modern man can say to himself, that it is okay to judge, but not to act. And your right, the crowd should be going wild.
Rest In Power Desmond Dekker! In case those who do not know, the "Desmond" mentioned "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" by the Beatles is intended to be Desmond Dekker.
The man had a fantastic voice. From ska, to reggae to motown. Fine fine range.
Mr. Desmond Dekker is a true pioneer when it comes on to his music.Thank you very much for giving the music that we all can sing and to.His music wll forever lives on.Rest In Peace Mr.Desmond Dekker.
To say he absolutely knocked that out of the fucking park, would be a massive understatement
It's even more exciting to see him perform this beautiful song, one of my all time best, RIP Desmond Dekker.
My father had a brief stint with the group in the early days, my father did background vocals with the band.
Thank you mister Dekker. A great lesson : just love, yeah, just love and dance. Skinhead forever
These musicians cannot keep up with Desmond...he is the man!!!!
And then God took the script, ripped it up, scattered the pieces to the four winds, and declared 'It don't get any better than this'
Correct great stuff
Never seen one say it best!
Jools Holland will always be remembered for putting on the best music

You probably refer to punk ska , from the third wave of ska. This stuff come from 1st wave of ska straight from kingston.
i know desmond dekker and prince buster were legends in there life time, and there were also a lot of ska greats, but nobody ever talks about another great legend that had all the greats on his shows and who is a very talented guy him self.
