I just started following (subscribing) to your channel today after watching your most recent posting on May 27th, 2019. - I really enjoy your no nonsense and low key commentary. Keeping it simple and informative is really useful - Your boat looks like a gem, well loved and well used. What make and any additional details? - You'll find that interest in your channel will grow once you've found your niche and I for one will try to help spread the word - Keep on sailing & doing what you enjoy!
This is great! Just saw your latest video, now starting from the beginning. Maybe one day I will have a chance to sail on the East coast, explore the endless anchorages and coves. I guess the tradeoff from the West coast is that your season is much shorter. Hi from San Diego ~~
Great adventure! I landeb on this channel throug "adventures of an old sea dog". I am impressed with this pure sailing without engin. I believe I will get into sailing soon. Thanks for sharing this fantastic adventure!
Okay, coming back to view some of your old videos again. That was an outstanding explanation of journey planning according to weather. Although it wasn't clear which route you were planning on taking initially. Definitely something to consider in future vids I think!
Actually, you're really good at it not a newbie at all and it shows, how you present and what you put together is both amazing and inspiring and has been from day one!
Hi Kevin. I love your blogs. Could you explain how your Hasler self-steering vane works off your main rudder to self steer your boat? I would like to know how to set something similar up on my 30’ steel sloop. Cheers. Jim
If you want an easier way of fixing pulled out screws, just put a match stick in the screw hole with a bit of glue on it and screw the screws straight back in, then you don’t have to wait for epoxy to go off and then re-drill the holes etc
Not true. You can alter course and speed to avoid adverse conditions. Or when crossing the Gulf Stream, for example, an accurate forecast is very valuable, as strong winds blowing against the Gulf Stream can produce hazardous sea conditions. With a good forecast you can avoid such things.
Wow ! Finally a channel that is informative while sailing .
Kevin glad to see a nice no nonsense informative sailing channel.

Go to my website www.boothbyboats.com, click on Boat Projects, you'll see an article on self-steering windvanes. Hope that helps!

I'm here now!
Did you say you have no motor? You a real sailor.
But that's risky.
Just happened upon your channel, and am wondering what boat you are using.
looks like a southern cross 31 - i could be wrong
@@superformOG Yes, she's a Gillmer 31, which is the same hull/deck as the Southern Cross 31.
Sent over by Patrick Laine.
Thanks for stopping by, (not) Chuck!
Why worry about the weather when there is nothing you can do about it? Once your committed your committed.
