Billy asked me to put this question online after meeting at the Orlando Convention: I am a huge fan of the friendship onion and was surprised by the intellectual curiosity, kindness and lighthearted attitude you express on the show. Along with the manner in which you do not necessarily fixate on giving an answer or viewpoint that is anything but honest and sincere regardless of the vulnerability shared. A contrary impression given by other hollywood celebrities, Do you have any recommendations for philosophy or other literature that helped shape your positivity and jolly disposition that you exude, because often with great wisdom can come great sorrow but you seem to have found a balance to silence sorrow in the face of such wisdom and intellectual curiosity.
This was so interesting that it felt like it went by in 5 min not an hour. Never heard a scientist be so spiritual at the same time and that's exactly what we need! She shone light on the popular law of attraction but from a concrete scientific point of view which eliminates the wackiness of it. Bring her back soon! Love you guys ❤️
I'm only 29 mins in and I just felt prompted to add my comment right this minute! She is amazing!! I could listen to her speak all day..very inspiring and I love that she doesn't condescend or lift herself up higher than anyone but gives you a feeling that we all can do math and do much more in our lives. Yes, I am one of those ppl with a fear of math. It has held me back my whole life and now I am going to read her books and attempt to overcome my fear of learning math. Just love this episode!! Thank you Dom and Billy..love your show and have learned so much about so many different topics. Please keep up the great work!
Question: Could you do a Friendship Onion episode with "the boys" at the convention in Orlando (or another city)? I know everyone that listens to/watches this channel would love it. Thanks.
Wow, what another wonderful guest! She was so inspirational and I loved hearing her journey’s story about her life, passions, and work. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for her books! 🥰🙏
I think you're right Dom. Spoken word has some kind of power to manifest in our lives, whether for good or bad. Loved this episode! Please keep bringing us these truly outstanding and interesting people and discussions.
Such a fascinating episode. I struggle with Maths and physics but am so interested in learning about it. Olympia explained the questions i’ve had for a long time in a way that has never been explained to me before. Thankyou. Love seeing and listening to your passionate guests and of course the passionate hosts! Keep ‘em coming please
Here's an interesting one, since Dom was mentioning how his brain works to add things together, sometimes I see things going around on the internet that are like: What does your brain do when you do 48+27? and it's so interesting seeing the difference in how people approach it and what our brains are most comfortable with. Some people will split the numbers and do 40+20=60 and then 8+7=15, 60+15=75 Some will round up then take away the excess later so, 50+30=80 then 80-2-3 =75 Some do a version of that where they just round up one side, 50+27=77 then -2 =75 My brain personally does some wild gymnastics but I've come across some people who are the same. Personally i like to work as linearly as possible. Rounding up or splitting both numbers would make me more confused. My brain tends to take 48..then adds the 20 to get 68 then +7 to get 75. What I particularly notice about myself is that my brain is great at visualising pairs of numbers that make numbers 10 and below..so in doing 68+7 my brain will naturally go "ah 8 needs 2 more to get to the next 10 so split that 7 into a 2 and..ah yes so there's 5 left...75" 😂😂😂 All that said I'm absolutely shocking at doing things in my head. I need a piece of paper to write down things. If someone went ahh 48+27 in my head i have to really visualise the numbers before i can work when them. Even things like spelling words out loud i often have to air-write the word with my finger to fully process it and get it right 😂. Brains are wild.
Man I love this podcast always makes me feel like I’m home again love you guys , hope to meet you guys one day give you both big hugs 🤗 thank you for sharing your gift to the world
Thank you, you all three❣️ What an interesting conversation! Here’s another space fan but bad in maths 🙃✨. When this comes out, Billy and Dom had their live podcast from Orlando two days ago. What about a live stream here on RUclips one day? Please 😍❣️
They are so cutee when they're figuring out the riddle 🥰 6:47 Also I get so excited whenever they sing their theme tunes 😄 Finally, can I just say how cute Dom looks on the thumbnail 🥺🥰
Yeah women of color in STEAM!!! Thanks so much to Billy and Dom for having her on and to Olivia for sharing her insights! I appreciated her underscoring that manifestation is about action to which our thoughts lead us. Sometimes forces outside ourselves are too great to get to that vision for ourselves, but we can at least know that we gave it our all. She's super inspirational overall! I'll have to check out her book. Lastly happy 1 year of TFO! 🤩🥳🎂
@@themoronbrothers9505 I believe that great achievement, regardless of the person who achieves it, is to be celebrated. We can also acknowledge and address systemic barriers that marginalized groups of people face. Both things can be true.
Awesome guest! Heck yeah for women in STEM! And especially for trying to combat fear of maths. Personally from my experience of always generally quite enjoying maths and being okay with to, to the point of getting a maths degree, every person I come across that I told i was studying maths from the moment I had to choice with my A Levels has looked at me like I've got 2 heads and gone "ooh god oh no not maths! I was never good at maths" and I think quite a lot of the fear comes from msths being this sort of well know ominous subject that's apparently super difficult. I never had that around me, we used to drive my nan home after she would babysit for me as a kid and she would give me sums to do on the way and i would really enjoy it! I really enjoy puzzles in general! I'm still playing about 8 different versions of Wordle including maths ones because I just love that stuff 🤣. I think, I mean, I'm not going to pretend it's not difficult..but anything can be and sometimes that's the fun of it!
I'm glad she understands the human timeline experience so well. One of my favorite though experiments. Thinking about the quantum existence of the human race on planet earth. Donnie Darko did a good job of portraying it with the "wormhole tunnels," but if you expand that thought even bigger, across time and the planet, you notice that it would resemble somewhere between the inside of a baseball, and a brain. The collective conscious may in fact be the quantum existence of humanity and the interactions of minds through time and space around the world. :)
I had to finish this episode early. Olympia is a great scientist and role model, but manifestation and the law of attraction is pseudoscientific nonsense. Believing you’ll achieving something, then if/when you do achieve it, saying it was because you believed it would happen is literal confirmation bias at its finest. Your brain is just wired to see it that way, the same as any superstition. Any example of manifestation is as good as saying break a leg before a theatre show. Throw salt over your shoulder and the devil doesn’t come eat your soul. Convenient she routinely mentioned her books that are $30 for the kindle edition on Amazon. Believe hard enough and buy my book and you’ll get that dream job! Though personally I would have manifested them to sell better. The entire concept was publicised by conman Napoleon Hill. Is it any surprise books touting this drivel always include “secret” in their title. Like you’ll be let in on the secret club of success. He was influenced by the near cult like religion/philosophy ‘New Thought’. One of their other beliefs alongside Law of Attraction is that all disease is mental, if only we all knew that pre-covid. Hoping there’s a part two with Olympia talking more about the discernible, measurable, observable, not made up science that she’s an expert in!
Always nice to have a scientist on the show, but the more it went on the more my pseudoscience-detector was going off, and by the end I was pretty sure she was just spouting self-help nonsense. "Quantum connected to ourself in the future" lol
Just finished watching this episode. I am really disappointed in this guest's lack of acknowledgement toward the outside influences on one's present and future, independent of one's own efforts. Our personal decisions (which they themselves are highly influenced by outside forces) are only one small percentage of the determination of our futures. It seems disingenuous to me not to acknowledge those external factors at all, instead using language that breeds indifference at best, or contempt at worst, towards the members of our society who struggle most. This is the problem with the bootstrap myth.
Exactly. This disregard for causality is a common thread in these manifestation/law of attraction/the secret schemes. The latter literally advocates not spending time around fat people if you dont want to manifest yourself into obesity. Sure, that could correlate, but that's not causation. Genes, diet, mental health, and exercise are what's causing that. But survivorship bias=always enough testimonials to sell books, lack of evidence be damned. I was tentatively open-minded but the second red flag was hearing her dream of essentially being a preacher.
If anyone watching this is into anime and science or even not that much into science, please watch the show called Dr Stone. It's basically "f*ck yeah humanity" the anime! We take so many wonderful scientific inventions for granted. It's a gorgeous funny brilliant show!
Wow! I notice this one has (so far) far few likes than most other episodes. I wonder if that may be due to the possibility that comparatively few viewers like to be reminded that they are in ultimate contol of their lives, and thus ought'n't blame misfortunes on blind circumstances...

Olympia LePoint! What a gift to us all. Cheers for this, Dom and Billy.

Lovin these academic guests. 👌
🤓📚🙌🏻
Thank you, you all three❣️
What an interesting conversation!
Here’s another space fan but bad in maths 🙃✨.
When this comes out, Billy and Dom had their live podcast from Orlando two days ago. What about a live stream here on RUclips one day? Please 😍❣️
Same here, love space. Challenged by math 😜🤣
I would love it if you could get David Wenham on the show ❤!
Wonderful show as usual!
Lovely interview!
Great guest, fascinating. Would definitely vote for a second recording
Brilliant!
Fantastic
They are so cutee when they're figuring out the riddle 🥰
6:47 Also I get so excited whenever they sing their theme tunes 😄
Finally, can I just say how cute Dom looks on the thumbnail 🥺🥰
Tight! Tight! Tight! I think that's from Breaking Bad. Remember Tuco?
Kicks like mule with its balls wrapped in duct tape
Olympia is such a beautiful soul!
Jumping through time and space, and talking to our future selves... sounds like a lot of mumbo jumbo
Just another way of saying to have a vision to succeed. This is Olympia’s version of it.
These are so much better when Billy and Dom are chatting in person.
Another great episode. Love the diversity of the guests you have on.
And I hope the live show from Orlando will be here on youtube eventually ☺️
Very interesting. Loved this interview.
Oh! And Dom, I have the same problem with math. I have a math disability
Yeah women of color in STEAM!!! Thanks so much to Billy and Dom for having her on and to Olivia for sharing her insights!

very good episode and guest!
No eat the world, is it funky, or swear words in LotR, was very much missing these segments!
I can do without "is it funky" but the other 2 are gems.
Great
Fascinating.
Looking forward to seeing y'all at Fan Expo in Chicago!
Absolutely LOVED Olympia as a guest!!
Why didn't you guys simply call your show Billy & Dom ?
Man this chick is hectic. Huge respect

I agree with the programming my mind to get where I want to, however I have health problems and I find this an object that stops this process.
I'm on oxygen

"on you go" ...... "Carry on"
What's Dom doing down under?
This went by too quickly, I could have listened to her for another 2 hours. You'll need to have her back on!
02:34 It's not a riddle, it's just a statement! I can't believe how quickly I worked that out. Coffee works, people!
I never thought about the concept that you'd automatically be making decisions towards your dream future if you settle on that inage of your future.
33:34 hilarious
Im thinking "The fellowship of the Onion Ring" 😍😋
Wait have they done Funions ywt for the eat the world thing!!!!???

I would LOVE to see her come back and talk actual science, and I think our hobbits would like that too. I too was soured by the pseudoscience.
Always nice to have a scientist on the show, but the more it went on the more my pseudoscience-detector was going off, and by the end I was pretty sure she was just spouting self-help nonsense. "Quantum connected to ourself in the future" lol

Feel for Dom and hope he'll be all rigth soon, cuz covid and the worst Man Utd season sicnce relegation is a tough double blow )))
No 111st birthday? They are usually very eventful

If you close your eyes you hear Rosario Dawson lol
Oof ☺️🌹
I’m a week late but 🤯🤯🤯🤯
She's not very articulate for somebody with so many academic achievements
Thank you guys, this representation really matters 🤍 SHES LEGENDARY !!!
