What a great episode. Getting to know the author behind a show you are obsessed with watching is just really really cool. His own story is just as fascinating. He has to come back for sure.
Well, Wes' first 35 seconds was a testament to the dynamic range of the Shure SM7B. 😆
I'm really sold on the Silo series so far. I didn't know what to think getting into it, it feels both high end and simultaneously a bit camp, but I'm definitely hooked. Very good TV. Although a superhero protagonist being the daughter of a doctor, becoming a master mechanic then becoming an amazing sheriff seems a bit like a stretch. I've just been imagining it as a Fallout character min-max run that decided to respec halfway through.
Anyway, love the show, love this interview, really the best of all worlds colliding here. Also, the show kind of reminds me of the upside down of "Lost", like this is the world taking place down "the hatch". But also some kind of precursor to what became the last human underground city, Zion from Matrix. It's just all the best of vibes really.
Very cool discussion. I enjoyed the 'Wool' trilogy a lot - looking forward to watching the series!
And a big thank you to Ty & Wes for introducing me to Christopher Buehlman (author of 'Between Two Fires')... read all 6 of his novels in the past few months and loved every one of them!
Between Two Fires was epic!
Guess I'll have to start hunting down the others!!
Phew! The way you signed off last week I thought I'd lost my fix.
We need Hugh BACK!!!! 🙌🏻
i'd known of this guy because i sometimes namesearch, but i hadn't realized how big he was, i thought he was just a self-publish fanfiction author or something. good for him
I like to binge it all at once, but the key for me is it needs to be rewatchable, many shows out there whether its weekly release or all at once are not rewatchable , The Expanse is rewatchable i have watched it probably 5 times now, same for the original Star wars trilogy i have lost count how many times i have rewatched them but not so much for the prequals or the latest episodes , now i do like it better with weekly releases if there is an aftershow that really dives deeper into the episode that helps me stay with it.
Exactly! Even though I'm not a fan of the author, I've rewatched the Harry Potter movies many times (as well as The Expanse), because it's just to well done. I've not rewatched Star Wars, but mostly because the style is so all over the place nowadays.
Great episode. Thanks, guys!
I love "our marriage goes to 11" 😮😅😂🤓
ahahahaha,,,air force checking in. Had not heard the soft hands thing before, that's great. I was used to the 'country club' when I was in, then the 'chair force', but now I'm going to have to come up with some new term for all the Seamen out there that's worse than what you call yourselves. ;)
Great guest, great discussion guys. I had never heard of Wool before I started watching the show so I didn’t really know what to expect, but the caliber of actors and the production value had be coming back and by episode 3 I was hooked.
Holy carp (Crap) !! Before I start this… I read the trilogy… came across it at B&N and got hooked few years ago. Damnn the fact that there’s a show coming out about it- 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾. Not (Now) let’s continue-
OMG! I'm so pleased I found this! I am watching the show. haven't read the book but.... it's awesome Ty & That Guy is still a thing.
It amazes me how many authors were influenced by Enders Game. Orson Scott Card rocks.❤❤❤
Not ONE mention of Die Hard!
Closet dramas are plays written to be read. Maybe Mr. Howey can invent the closet screenplay.
Will Hugh Howey and Ty ever write anything together? And then have Wes as one of the main characters?
Dang you guys weren't kidding about the small audience. How the hell has this not caught on more? Great episode.
totally loving Silo. some matrix vibes living underground in dystopian world and definitely impressive production design
I really enjoyed the Silo trilogy. The look of the show absolutely nailed what was in my mind. That said, I much preferred the story and characters as written. I wish they would have stayed much closer to the source material. Still, seeing the vision brought to life so successfully has been great. Looking forward to Friday!
Going to the local movie rental place on Friday was always the highlight of my week when I was growing up.
On a friday? In germany we always had a "return on the next day" policy so I always went on saturday. Since sunday is off, I could cheat the systhem and keep them for 2 days!!!
Absolutely loved the episode. What a great time!
"They just want to spend more time with their favorite people in their favorite world " is such a perfect way to describe the perspective of a child 💖. Great interview! I love the series and will have to check out the books.
Would love for y'all to get Brandon Sanderson and/or Dan Wells on here. Dan Wells is a big horror fan too!
Great episode but I’m disappointed that Ty didn’t rave about Ms. Ferguson being such an important part of the show 😏
Great episode! (Honestly, your last episode scared me…made it feel like you were ending/pausing the podcast)
Excellent episode, I watched the first couple of episodes of silo and was hooked straight. So now I've read wool and am currently working on shift. Love the books, love the show and love Ty and that guy, 🥰🥰
You’re back!!! Yaaaaaaayyyyyy!!
31:00 See I, personally, love bingeing because I sometimes have trouble remembering what happened a week ago or two weeks ago, especially if its a story arc narrative. I watched The Expanse from when it first aired in SyFy, and I loved it, but I didn't really fall in love with it until I got to rewatch those first 3 seasons in a row in preparation for season 4 and realized it was even better than I remembered.
Awesome interview!
30 Min in… just watched the the trailer for the series… City of Embers came to mind. I’m an asshole for not seeing the similarities. The Tone is def diff. Read them both, Eras apart and it didn’t click until.
Wes lived for 4 years on the steel beach!
Conan the barbarian... greatest soundtrack ever.
13:30 Conan is still the best D&D movie ever made.
"They just want to spend more time with their favorite people in their favorite world " is such a perfect way to describe the perspective of a child 💖. Great interview! I love the series and will have to check out the books.
🔔👍🏻
Great discussion.
There's still one epic video rental store in my city and it's only about 25 blocks from my house
Just bought the book!
This Random Bullshit episode is one of the most enjoyable ones. And I am here, with you since the beginning. Thank you all.
Enders game and hitchikers guide. So many great books
Which Between Two Fires book are you guys talking about? The one by Christopher Buehlman or the one by Mark Noce?
Pretty sure it's the Buehlman.
Everyone who goes out cleans although they know that previous cleans did not show the "real" world on screen. So why do they clean. Also why does Bernard stop the hologram for Juliette? Yes, she knows it is not real, but why stopping it?
My favorite show at the moment 😀
The stairway was different in the best way in the Silo series. Although so much is different, there is enough of the same to increase my enjoyment of the books. I am re-reading the book series and will rewatch Silo
This dudes life story is a movie 😂
The Molly Fyde series is great. I'd absolutely love to read another in the series. Great episode and interview. Love all you guys' work!
Ty Franck's 46:35 "everything is getting better"
Is gun violence better? I hope that's true but it doesn't feel better.
I absolutely love Silo! Of course, it’s not The Expanse but nothing is.
I started watching you guys a couple weeks ago and can't get enough! Keep it up fellas!
The question is why your aren't reviewing Silo!?
I shouted "Air Force" just before Wes said it....
I'm Lisa and I will absolutely read Molly Fyde!!
This podcast becoming best scifi - soace terror show. Love it
Omg I remember the faces of death thing!
Dude, add Hugh to the regular cast please 😂
really great series
"things are getting better" 48:00 my rabbi was just saying the same thing.
