    Great interview, always love listening to Shem! 🤗🤗 Hey Shem, you said Genesis because it's the superior name. 😅😝

      I hate the fact that I say Genesis now 🤕😂 thanks Rob. Yes Shem is a class act I am continually struck by the caliber of humans in our small tech community. This community Nintendo is calling criminals……

    Woot TechDweeb cameo! I can listen to you nerds talk about handhelds for ages. And congrats @RetroBreezeYT on your good news! I assume you'll be naming your kid after a retro handheld? Looking forward to hearing you talk about little RG35XX-H.

      Cheers dweeb! My wife and I have carefully selected a name already, so if you could please respect Poco X5 Pro, that would be great

    So great to hear you two chat again! I feel you have even more articulated arguments now, there is a nice evolution to it. And God, I pre-purchased the RG556 but I'm now on the verge to order the Odin 2 instead not thanks to you :D

    I feel bad I've been dragging my feet on this one. What an enlightening watch! I had planned to put out a ton of videos this winter, but Christmas hit me so hard, then I got sick. It's so hard to get the momentum back! Thank you both (and TechDweeb, of course) for the motivation to try and get back into this.

      Oh, and yes! Wii definitely could use some pointers on Wii stuff. I always feel like my mappings are liable to break if I sneeze or move funny. XD

    I was just watching your first interview few days ago, it's like you never left! :D very interesting points about the weirdness of a fan on a smaller powerful device, makes me wonder about how these things can even improve at this point, hard to imagine the direction..

      I speak about this a bit in my interview with Rob (retro tech dad) and I think even more in my upcoming interview with Russ. It’s a fun topic. On the one hand, basic retro emulators have probably reached their cap BUT “retro” is relative to the generation. The Switch is 7 years old already! So the devices we use will keep evolve. Personally I feel Windows handhelds have only just begun and may be the future alongside devices like the Steamdeck. I really like this part of the tech scene.

      @@adinwalls oh yeah, I remember that! how GameCube is already retro to some, true.. what I'm "worried" about is how the Steamdeck is too freaking huge and not pocketable, so I guess the ideal form factor would be something in the middle, but more powerful.. but then the screen would be too small?! aaargh!! well, let's see what Russ has to say!

    • @adinwalls

    I'm right there with Adin's take on OLED @34:40. I've compared my launch switch with an OLED, and recently compared my original steam deck with my friend's OLED, and while the OLEDs are noticeably better in a side by side comparison, I don't feel like I'm missing out in either case. I also am with Shem on the switch sticks. Anything powerful enough to play "modern-ish" 3D games shouldn't have switch sticks.

    It's hard for CFW devs to make a firmware that runs on new Anbernic devices, since Anbernic don't want to cooperate with them.

    • @adinwalls
      @adinwalls  6 месяцев назад

      Yes it’s a strange situation we have with Anbernic

    • @vexorian
      @vexorian 6 месяцев назад +1

      This is also why heavy hitters like JELOS or Arkos won't touch Anbernic devices.

    • @RetroBreezeYT
      @RetroBreezeYT 6 месяцев назад

      @@vexorian Yeah it's a shame, and really unnecessary on Anbernic's part. They actually violate a lot of OSS licenses by not sharing their sources.

    I would love to see the retro handheld creators focus a bit more on making content on devices like the homemade PS Portal that Retrobreeze showed off. I've made a similar device myself using the new Galaxy Tab A9 8'7 inch display paired with the new BSP-D9 controller. Same processor as Retrobreeze's AllDoCube (Helio G99) and it's fantastic for handheld gaming on a larger screen.
    I feel like too many creators focus on pocketability but for me personally it's more about how is the device for gaming in a nice and quiet comfy zone in your own home where you can just chill for a bit and if you are going out will it easily fit in a bag and smaller tablets paired with the latest telescopic controllers tick both these boxes for me plus as Retrobreeze points out they're a great deal for what you can do on them, i have Daijisho setup on mine and you can even emulate some Switch providing your into visual novels!

      Yes. There is definitely a growing interest in this! And Shem is the man for the job!!

      Thanks for your comment! I agree totally, sometimes we need to forget the competitiveness and tech specs and just find the devices that are just enjoyable to play. My G8 tablet was the fruit of some basic curiousity: "I wonder if I could make this work?", which resulted in one of my favourite ways to play games, period!

    351P has a good dpad that it's way better than these new cheaper handhelds of Anbernic. I have the 351P and just bought the 35xxH. The 35xxH dpad is not that accurate. I only bought it for the tv out and wired or bluetooth multiplayer gaming.
