@@Fruit17-ip4vl baby face wrote that song, he also named them, they didn't have a name he liked so he told them to come up with a name, when he got back to them he asked if they have a name, and they said " not as yet" and he smiled and said " ok, you boys are now AS YET"
They changed their name to "Suns of Light" when they got older. I just talked to Tajh a week ago and working on doing some content with at least 2 of the brothers for Black Beat Magazine soon.
They got their name from a talent show when someone asked their mom the name of the group, and she said who, the boys... LOL. At a young age, they started writing and producing music for others after that first album. They left the fame behind and moved to Gambia.
My Sr year of high school 1988/89 school year. They did so much in so much in so little time and they maintained their sanity as adults. They left the scene like dropping the mic! Good to know they are doing well.
Hi my name is Emmanuel. I actually had the honor of interviewing Tajh from the Boys on my Podcast. It was an Honor as a big fan of these guys growing up. I also interviewed Hakim. That interview is exclusively on the audio portion of my podcast.
You should watch the video with them singing this song live at the Appolo. It is a million times better the audience goes crazy for them and the dancing is top notch way better. They came out with this song years ago and it played on radio everyday. This is quality music
The Boys produced 3 albums under the Boys name. Most interesting is that the last one, which didn't do as well unfortunately, was mostly produced by group member Hakeem Abdul-Samad, who couldn't have been no more than 14 or 15 years old at the time. A lot of these young groups unfortunately had some trying and sometimes tragic things happen to them in their lives. Don't think I heard about much happening to them though. After the third album we never really heard much about them for decades really. Sounds like they are back together now though.
Their performance at the Apollo is worth watching. They killed it!!
This Song was Classic !!! 🔥🔥🔥
Baby Face was such a genius
You are so right Peter! Great comment! 😎❤️
He is headed to the song writer’s Hall of Fame one day! He is amazing!
@@Fruit17-ip4vl thank you too, he's such a creator, remember the group AS YET ?
@@peterreid4435 I do! The song “Last Night” comes to mind!

There parents removed them from the industry and moved to Africa. They still make music and are all doing well.
They were so popular that Don Cornelius let them host the show once
Also they perform on there too
Such a Babyface song ❤❤
Love The Boys! Their video for Crazy was one of my favorites. Love the parodies of other popular videos from the time, especially Vogue lol
Never can beat the original!! Talent no autotune 💩
Sounds like a Bobby Brown song but this is real music
This took me back to this time, when my son was a little boy. We loved this song and the video. Time FLIES! He's 40 years old now. ✨️😊💛
The Boys from Carson California. I believe Hakeem moved to Africa

Another Babyface Masterpiece ❤
In the 90's L.A. & Babyface were the hit makers. You couldn't miss with them or Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis
