You have to keep building the Talon after this. There is some potential there. That’s the most extreme stuff i have seen a Talon doing on RUclips so far. Get stuff.
Love it! Your I 4wd works about the same as mine. I replaced the brake pads at 800 and wow what a diff in the i4wd for the better. Funny how the big rigs didn't do much better if at all.
I always run my talon in manual low to help with rock climbing. That will keep the clutch engaged. And won’t shift when I don’t want it to. The locker is a must. Will make your talon a different Machine.. great videos. I love black Mountain..
Same, I don’t use auto. Only shifting up to get a little more wheel speed and heat in the tires. Where you see it struggling to move is low gear 1st gear, the obstacles are just way more gnarly than they look on camera
I was tired of the i4wd so i put a locker in it. Definitely made the machine just as capable as any other. You dont realize how much the i4wd screws you until you have it.
I’m running 33” XT300s on the Talon 1000R and it turns them just fine. On they way to the trails I leave it in high. When I get to the trails I put it in low. Me personally I like the 33s better than 35s because the obvious reason. More power. Really enjoy watching y’all’s videos. Keep up the great work.
Building a yxz might be the most expensive build for crawling. A crawl box is what 4-5k then they still need to redo the suspension and add at a minimum 32s and beadlocks. Dont get me wrong I loved my xtr when I had it but it just didn't suit us for our style riding either. Im not saying to cant be done but it is pricey
Man the TALON!!!! I'm blown away! I love how you can beat the piss out of it, and it doesn't break, that's one perk of the i4wd. So cool to see it holding its own! 🔥🔥
I wouldn’t necessarily say that, we expected it to do pretty good based on what we’ve seen with them. We know momentum goes a long way, Similar to the yxz days everyone said those couldn’t go anywhere but you definitely could just with more effort lol. The talon has been a trooper though
I think I was hearing the talon shifting gears was it in manual or auto? I have to keep mine in manual to keep it from shifting out of 1st gear so it doesn't bog down then I can use paddles to choose what gears I'm in.
Seem to be right on par with a zilla so far. Might be wearing a little faster, might have a little more traction on certain spots but not a huge difference
How do you always do it?! Just a thumbnail, and an intro has me liking the video, and sometimes making comments. Just so I can turn off my phone, and finish watching on the TV.
It’s a Black mountian SxS parts beat down …….. when companies develop new drivetrain products they should contact Blown Budget to do the field testing.
great video. that trail looks pretty wicked. should really look into doing the internal gear reduction for the talon. it made big difference in mine and I'm running a set of 35 in 370's which are heavy as hell.
@@BlownBudgetOffroad I havent had any problems with the clutch at all. As of now I've been pretty impressed with the gear reduction. If you guys ever head to the badlands it would be sweet to ride with you and you could check it out and see what you think of it.
I go up mason jar coming from the other direction. Along the ridge, around the big rock and up onto the top of the ledge. I put a pic on your FB page. I can’t find video of it. It’s scary as hell to look down to the left and see how high up you are, but i have a 4 seater…. And they don’t do good with the line u all do in the video
Hey! Seen your pic yeah I’ve seen some people to that line. Every time we’re there doesn’t seem we’d get over that ledge but idk. The line we take is pretty fun, we like a challenge lol
Talon+portals+35= More clearance. Gear reduction. 72” wide. Less stress on driveline. If it’s too tall crank the springs down to lower center of gravity. It will still lift the suspension components up giving more clearance. Would be a good test subject to see how they hold up crawling.
Portals mess with the steering geometry too much in my opinion. We can’t crawl most of the time because the obstacles require momentum and then when you got less leverage over the steering with the portals it creates some sketchy situations. At least that’s what we’ve gained from portals. Lots of added stress on ball joints, bushings, steering, and then add another component to fail
wanted let u guys know there a guy on RUclips shows u how reset the 4x4 light.. you guys might want try that see if it resets the 4x4 and the light... down the road you guys need put turbo on the talon give u more hp help with the rock climbs... good video like always...
The talon only has like 400 but we just got it and rebuilt it over winter from the wreck it was in before us. I think Josh’s rig has about 1k miles, my x3 has like 1700 I think billys prob close to 2k. But we don’t do high speed stuff where the miles add up quick.
I do have it, the talon was just purchased by the channel as another rig to ride and make content with. We bought it wrecked at auction. Did a whole rebuild series on it, check it out.
@@pete1735 yeah a fully built 45k dollar Turbo S? Talon still almost got the job done being bone stock, having issues with i4x4, and being a rebuilt title 😳

That’s for sure
It do t have enough power to bust anything.
I've said this once or twice Josh is a Hella of driver! Everybody else did good too. I feel the talon needs to be 72" wide.

The 4 seater that broke the pinion. Did it have a kb3 driveline?
Yes it was
Love to see you guys build and bring back one of the YXZ’s for “full send” purposes!!!

It’s in manual. Just shifting up to grab some more wheel speed or it would be sitting on limiter for ever to get some smoke and heat in them tires.
How doe y’all like those nittos compared to the Zillas
