+Zaro2512 I've been watching her videos for too long to hear anyone but Ash. It's very subtle, but her voice is higher than Chloe's. When she does the "Chloe voice" she drops a bit lower and is less dynamic.
+Life Is Strange oh gawd her voice is so soft to my ears. OMOSAJDAS I also love how she feels about her work. She sounds like an interesting person to work with.
Am I the only one that pictures Chloe sitting and talking with these guys? I really love how Chloe's voice in LIS is Ashley's natural voice. All other characters that Ashley voiced were literally "acted" voices. Chloe's voice is Ashley's natural voice. I absolutely LOVE that about this series... @Blackwell Podcast
That's not quite true. They are similar but you can definitely hear the difference when she does Chloe's voice. If I'd had a question, I would have asked how she made Chloe's voice and whether she modelled it on anything.
I could never sacrifice Chloe because I'm so tired of sad endings, and plus Chloe matters to me more than Arcadia Bay which is already a ruin in the game :)
I voted for Ashly for the Golden Joystick Awards last year after that emotional perfomance in episode 4 in the junkyard,i was estatic and overjoyed that she won also great interview, you were lucky she made time in her busy schedule for you guys great job :).
She is so incredible. I loved her way before this interview but after listening to it, I just love her even more. She is so honest and inspirational. I've never loved a videogame character more than I love Chloe. I never understood how people could kill Chloe but after her explaintation(?) I do. (But I would still never kill the Bae) Ashly is such a talented, wonderful human being. Oh and thank you for asking my question.. you guys are so amazing ❤❤❤❤💙
I ship him with Stella (or Nathan:)) because I just don't like Brooke:D She's so... jealous, even though there isn't even a reason, because it isn't Max's fault, that Warren loves her and not... her xD You know what I mean:D Btw Warren, hab ich dich nicht bei Gronkh gesehen? Oder war das bei Maudado? Ich weiß es nicht mehr:D
kool, you guys actually managed to get 2 of the main chars onto the podcast lol..i still remember somewhere in chp 4, max asked chole to do a podcast and she answers "dude i'm a pod in a cast" lol
Yay! Thank you Blackwell Podcast crew for asking Ashley to come on and hosting it and thank you Ashly for coming on! :D Everyone they have interviewed who worked on the game chose Bay and not Bae :( except for the writer Christian Divine who said both. :)
Man. This podcast brought me closure for my heart when I first finished LiS and I was heartbroken for weeks and didn't know why until I watch this video. Thanks you guys for bringing Ashly and lastly for Ashly, thank you very much for being Chloe Price. I always cry when *HELLA SPOILER* Chloe finds Rachel's body. There's so much emotional in that scene. I'm glad I bought LiS for full price since it's my favorite game of all time. I'm crying while murdering some poor NPCs in GTA V xD
It might seem wrong to some people but at the end of Life Is Strange I always choose to save Chloe. If I had a choice to save my best friend or if it was a family member vs a town, city, ex. I would choose my best friend or family member with out a doubt. Family comes first for me then friends, fuck everybody else basically.
McKenna Buerge No,I cried too! I know I'm so damn late to completing the game only after finding out about it a month and a half ago,but I finished it a few hours ago and I'm still torn up about it! I did save Chloe, but I was still shook up from seeing how the storm swept over Arcadia Bay and how it was left in ruins! It hit me even harder due to "Obstacles" by Syd Matters was playing during the scene, and that was another major addition to the decision for ending the game! So,all in all the ending will always be something that will stick with me and every Life is Strange fan out there cause it truly made an impact in our lives!
If I could ❤️ instead of "Like" I'd give this a big big ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Got me teary by the middle of the podcast... Thanks Ashly Burch & Blackwell Podcast!
I resonate with chloe/Ashly so much with the abandonment thing and questioning whether youre worth sticking around for. I love how honest and fairly open Ashly is its really refreshing
Knowing the details of the tragedy Ash hinted at just makes her portrayal of Chloe that extra bit deeper and might even make you wonder if the line between acting and reliving tragedy was crossed during production.
I loved listening to Hannah and Ashly speak their interviews were so much fun to listen to. I hope we get a podcast of the two together soon!! Please make it happen!!
I know almost everyone is saying the same thing over and over again, but seriously, she's a trully wonderful and inspiring person. Just as her character.
Cried though the Max podcast, cried through the Chloe podcast, so many other emotion layered on top too, but like Ashley said, it's still impossibly sad to think about or relate to even more. Everytime Chloe swears a butterfly gets its wings, and I feel a little more complete, oddly.
Definitely cool how she just lays it the fuck out on the table. Beyond cool to just sort of hear the thoughts directly for the voice actor. LIS definitely brings so many things to the surface for a lot of players, and that is more than 99% of games will ever accomplish.
[SPOILER WARNING, JUST TO BE SAFE] On my first play-through, I was so blinded by emotion that I actually thought the ending of Episode 5 was a mess. How could this charming, witty little drama-story be so stupid as to ask me to chose between the most important NPC (and a character I actually cared about - very rare for any medium, especially video-games) and everyone else? Why should the 'happy' ending be so sad? Then I played the game again last week, and considering it as a tragedy allowed me to realise just how good the ending is. Choosing Bay over Bae hurts like a hole in the heart, but it makes for a beautiful story. Even so, those comic-book sequels following on from the 'Sacrifice Arcadia' ending can't come quickly enough...
I loved Ashly so much before watching this, but after hearing her bay over bae explanation, which is pretty much exactly how I feel about it, I love her even more
+Jonathan Lyons To expand on Ashly’s thoughts…. To me, Life is Strange is ultimately about coming to terms with extreme loss and pain, learning to accept what happened, and letting go. As someone who’s dealt with great loss, I think thats what spoke to me the most in the game. There are so, so many things that were relatable, but that was where the game impacted me on a level that no story ever has. When going through something like that, as I did, which took me years to get over, the period of time before you reach acceptance, which is the grieving period, you are still trying to desperately hold on. Even if the loss deals with someone who has died, you want to keep holding on, and you can’t come to terms with it that way. Holding on, though, is not healthy and leads to only negative things, and I think the consequences in the game are a metaphor for this. And I’m sure everyone who has dealt with that grieving period has thought, ‘man, if I could just go back in time and prevent that from happening….’ But the game is showing you that even if you could, eventually you would still have to come to terms with that hardship, and messing up time and space to attempt to fix it, isn’t the answer. Going through something as horrible as losing the person you care about most in the world is terribly sad, tragic, and above all, painful. But there is something beautiful about eventually reaching a point of acceptance. I think Max realizes this in the funeral scene when she sees the blue butterfly and smiles.
+Jonathan Lyons Well you're half right. It seems to me that most people in the community agree that the game is about the fact that everyone in there life has or will lose some one close and will say " I would do anything to be that person back" I.E. Sacrifice arcadia bay OR They will say " I would do anything just to spend a little more time with them". I.E. the sacrifice Chloe ending. The game is taking this bargain and pushing you to your limits. There is no wrong answer and there is no having to come to terms with the fact that they have to die. It's a mental exorcise. Theres no wrong answer here. But I do like what she said about how,Thematically it is a good message. It's not the only message.
+Captain Kirk its not about being half right or whole right or whatever. The key words in what I had to say being *to me*. Everyone experiences the game differently and has different perceptions and perspectives about the game and the story. This is just my takeaways from the game. Obviously its not the only message. I think everyone relates what they have been through or are maybe even currently going through to what happens to Max & Chloe in the story, and that heavily influences the choices that they make and the lessons/messages they glean after its all finished. In other words, its a very personal experience, and Ive found people tend to have lots of varying opinions.
It was a poor choice of words I guess, but I'm just repeating what the developers have said they they agree with and what they said hit the nail on the head most. I agree with you completely. I felt the exact same way. and I chose to sacrifice Chloe for the same reasons. I'm not just giving my opinion though. I'm just repeating what a whole community and the devs have said. Like I said, It's a mental exorcise to confront you with the possibility of bring the person back, and I think it's a really cool idea.
+Jonathan Lyons In the end, I chose to save Chloe, the consequences of this choice were tragic, but I feel the look Max and Chloe give eachother in the truck before they drive off is an equally strong point of acceptance as the butterfly over the casket. Max made a difficult choice, you can see the guilt on her face, but upon looking at Chloe, accepts that she made this choice to save someone she loved, and if she had to do it all over again to save Chloe, she would make the same choice. Chloe's comforting Max shows that she accepts her choice, and their smile as they drive off shows that Chloe will not waste the new life she has been given. That's how I feel about my ending to Life Is Strange.
Thank you for what must have been an incredible amount of work and effort into bringing Chloe to life! She's probably my favorite character from Life is Strange.
It doesnt really matter eventhough ashly said that is better to sacrifice chloe... for me I am like max always protecting chloe and because of the fact she is such a great character she will always live in the game and on my heart I was also shock watching her on a wheelchair or when jefferson shot her and I felt I wouldnt let anyone hurt chloe 💙💙💙🦋
I only hear Chloe when she speaks.
Me too haha :D
same
+Zaro2512 Of course
+Zaro2512 ikr
+Zaro2512 I've been watching her videos for too long to hear anyone but Ash. It's very subtle, but her voice is higher than Chloe's. When she does the "Chloe voice" she drops a bit lower and is less dynamic.

That's not quite true. They are similar but you can definitely hear the difference when she does Chloe's voice. If I'd had a question, I would have asked how she made Chloe's voice and whether she modelled it on anything.
and here we can see, what ending is canon - Chloe is alive and happy
I think there are several Chloes in different timelines and Ashly can't speak for all of them
I could never sacrifice Chloe because I'm so tired of sad endings, and plus Chloe matters to me more than Arcadia Bay which is already a ruin in the game :)
omg tru
Bae over Bay tho

Yes, I'm from Serbia :)
Marko Stevanovic Eee hahaha! Isto
Nisam do sada upoznao devojku iz Srbije da igra Life is Strange :)

Man when Ashly read the opening spoiler warning my head almost hella exploded!
the feels are crazy. she really made me emotional when she talked about trusting people and giving people a chance
It hits home. Pretty fucking hard.
I voted for Ashly for the Golden Joystick Awards last year after that emotional perfomance in episode 4 in the junkyard,i was estatic and overjoyed that she won also great interview, you were lucky she made time in her busy schedule for you guys great job :).
There are two dislikes. I pretty sure it is Nathan Presscon and Mark Jefferson
it's three now, must be Frank
No. It's David. Bad company for Chloe
Presscot*
No! Nathan, Mark and Victoria xD
Victoria and Nathan are dead wtf

Family G, played LiS 5 or 6 times through and through and I never once sacrificed Chloe, CHLOE IS MY BAE!! BAE NOT BAY!!
this interview was therapeutic
It might seem wrong to some people but at the end of Life Is Strange I always choose to save Chloe. If I had a choice to save my best friend or if it was a family member vs a town, city, ex. This interview is great I hella love ashly Burch
Am I the only one who cried so hard at the end of the game because of the choices.
McKenna Buerge
No,I cried too!
I know I'm so damn late to completing the game only after finding out about it a month and a half ago,but I finished it a few hours ago and I'm still torn up about it!
I did save Chloe, but I was still shook up from seeing how the storm swept over Arcadia Bay and how it was left in ruins!

You guys are so awesome for this!
I started crying while listening because I can’t stop hearing her as Chloe
I resonate with chloe/Ashly so much with the abandonment thing and questioning whether youre worth sticking around for. I love how honest and fairly open Ashly is its really refreshing
Knowing the details of the tragedy Ash hinted at just makes her portrayal of Chloe that extra bit deeper and might even make you wonder if the line between acting and reliving tragedy was crossed during production.
why was one of the most amazing characters actor only 30 minutes???
ProjectNiteFall RIGHT?! I could listen to this for hours!
Awesome interview! It's been said a lot before, but it's hard not to hear Chloe in her normal voice, especially the "Warning..." intro.

I know almost everyone is saying the same thing over and over again, but seriously, she's a trully wonderful and inspiring person. Just as her character.
Omg when she did chloe's voice for that line - instant fangirl mode
Ahhhh this is so awesome!! :D
Omg I love u

I love Ash, she's so humble.
Such a cool interview!

ahhhh you guys finally got her on!!
THAT HELLA AT THE BEGINNING
God damn this was amazing. Thanks so much for the podcast. Thanks so much Ashly for coming on & giving wonderful (FEELS) answers. :)
This is so weird hearing Ashly's voice when you are deeply in the "Life is Strange" zone,I'm not judging this is hella cool!
Why even Bae chose Bay? I feel lonely and lost... ;-;
Nah, still Bae.
+Darek Hofman )))
+Darek Hofman I am Bae
Ok, take it. --> ♥♥♥
Because Chloe said the same thing in the game :)) but I dont care. I still choose Bae over Bay
This is so cool, you guys are awesome!

Chloe Price is truly an inspirational character.
The podcast I was waiting for

Thank you for what must have been an incredible amount of work and effort into bringing Chloe to life! She's probably my favorite character from Life is Strange.
22:24 LMAO I SCREAMED OF LAUGH
It doesnt really matter eventhough ashly said that is better to sacrifice chloe... for me I am like max always protecting chloe and because of the fact she is such a great character she will always live in the game and on my heart I was also shock watching her on a wheelchair or when jefferson shot her and I felt I wouldnt let anyone hurt chloe 💙💙💙🦋
I enjoy seeing the contrast between the Fiction and the Nonfiction.
I'm hella happy right now!!
I hella love you!
Yeah Me + Max = Forever #BaeOverBay

I was a little bit blown away that she is the voice from Chloe. I only knew her from the Rocket Jumt short team.
the "hella" part of the interview gave me lots of feels.. like seriously I hear true Chloe! *_____*
This got me smiling like an idiot
