  • Penny's GMRS antenna was ok, but it being below the roofline of the vehicle made it choppy and inconsistent. Kenneth brought a new antenna on our most recent Moab adventure, and like most in this situation, replaced it in the hotel parking lot.
This time, he brought a new tool along, to help tune the new antenna. On Amazon, he picked up a NanoVNA. This device can be used an an antenna analyzer, providing more feedback results than a standard SWR meter. And it's not all that expensive!

Kenneth, I didn't know you had a channel. I found you while searching for mobile GRMS antennas. Your video was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I already had a NanoVNA, but sort of forgot how to use it, so this was great. I subscribed, so I'll be watching your future content.

Wait wait wait! I'M the only one allowed to have a Wolfbox mirror in my Jeep! What the hell, now I have to figure something else cool.... LOL!!! Thank you for posting this for us fellow radio nerds. I really want to get one of those now. Nice also because you don't have to have the radio. That is a total game changer!

We LOVE Wolfbox! Penny's will be upgraded this winter. You see a lot of video from it on this channel! There are two sitting on April's desk right now-- one for April's tow pig and another for Kenneth's JL. And Roy says he's definitely putting one in his MJ Crawler. April's been thinking of applying to become a Wolfbox brand ambassador, but hasn't done so just yet.

I will keep watching your channel then. They are a great company in my opinion. The quality of their products are really good too!

The perfect frequency to tune to would be 465.1375 as that is the exact middle of the GMRS band. If you get perfect SWR on that frequency, you're in perfect shape.

If I were tuning exclusively for GMRS I would agree. In this case the antenna will be used with a bit wider range of frequencies and so have to compromise some to have it work well enough across them all.

@@KAFingerlos I was just saying that in general for others to see for when they want the best SWR for the whole GMRS range.
