- Thank you guys so much for watching, I've never done a video on strategy calls before but this was a fun one to make! I hope you guys enjoyed and if you did, feel free to leave some suggestions down in the comments below. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed!
All credits go to: ESPN, Fox Sports, NBC, and ABC
One that never gets mentioned is the 2001 Food City 500 when Elliott Sadler pitted with 152 laps to go and went on to win by staying out on old tires to earn his first Cup win and the Wood Brothers first win at Bristol
Aka the Miracle from 38th as us Sadler fans know!
@@alexthesniper1952 indeed! Here I am feeling like the only Sadler fan left😂😂😂
@Jdog2201 I promise u. U aren't
@Jdog2201 Your Not alone always been a sadler fan I've always believed if he was with a prime ford team he would have won a title
2:55 the way they realized it as they were trying to figure out what the hell he was doing was awesome 😄
Jeff Burton pitting on the last lap of segment 1 of the Winston was definitely the greatest strategy call in NASCAR history IMO
It amazes me that no one in the booth figured out the strategy until the final lap. When everyone else had pitted and Burton showed no signs of slowing I suspected what they were doing. Such a great moment in the sport that only works once before rules changes makes it obsolete.
It's one of those moments where I remember exactly where I was when I watched it. I would've been 9 years old and at my grandparents house watching it in their living room.
You forgot the 1989 Daytona 500…Jeff Hammond led DW to the win on fuel mileage
Might have to make a part 2, there is a few that I left out
I asked Cliff Daniels in 2021 what one of his biggest rules for strategy during a race. He said never base your race on what somebody else is doing. Don’t pit just because somebody else is pitting. Do what’s going to be best for you.
Gateway 2019 for the trucks.
Ross was trying to get into the top 30 in points and be eligible for the playoffs after declaring for truck points midway through the season. His crew chief went fuel only on the final stop of the race and Ross got the win
Like when tye Norris said pit for a point on a open mic 😂
Burton lost his clutch. He didn’t get disqualified. His pit box was before the start/finish line. He took advantage of the rules and only lost this race because he lost a clutch.
5:10 Love strategy calls like these. Brilliant baiting and worked like a treat
Another Notable mention Kyle busch 2005 easy care vehicle contracts 200 pits and grabs four tires restarts like 8th and wins the race because of four sticker tires as everyone else had worn out tires!
As a Denny Hamlin fan, I still can't believe that late race pit strategy worked wgen he passed William Byron with 4 to 5 laps left, and hold of Kevin Harvick
2007 Coca Cola 600 when Casey Mears decided to stay out
in 2002 for the winston burton got 2nd
Juan Pablo Montoya was screwed out of so many oval wins
He wrecked in a lot of them
He deserved at least one Indy and one Atlanta
@@TheNotoriousJDE actually that Richmond race as well. That last caution was a phantom caution
I was at that 2014 Pocono race, as a Jeff Gordon fan I absolutely sick leaving that race
Jeff Burton did not win the stage. Johnson actually beat him to the line for the stage bonus. But it did give him track position as he was outside the top 10 at the start of the cycle.
do worst strategy calls next
Man, I wish I appreciated Cole Pearn more. How did we get stuck with James Small...
Exactly. How did Truex go from having one of the best crew chiefs to having some Aussie guy who argues with him over his shitty ass strategy every week?
This is already outdated LOL
