When Yuki realized that his mom was small broke my heart. As someone who survived lots of traumatic events, I can see how you always think that you are the one who’s small and weak. We change and grow, yet our pain makes us think that we didn’t.

Sweet note : Tohru is actually wearing the ruban that Yuki gave her back in season 1, as a gift after Valentine's day, when they were at the hot spring. It's a small way to say "good luck"
About Yuki's mom, I have my own theory on her behavior. But we know so little about her that's it's almost fanfiction at this point. For all we know from the show, she had 2 kids. The important thing is that they were both zodiac members. Meaning she never could form a conection with them by embracing them. That kind of contact is very important during the first month, both for the baby and their mother. That's how they learn about each other and form a bound. And she comes from the Soma family, for all we know. You shouldn't express yourself too much, you must think of reputation. For me, that played a huge part on her character, and how she will treat her child. I deel like she truly care for both of them but was never able to express it the right way. A lot of parents think they're doing the right thing by deciding for their child, because they know better. That's why teenage years are so difficult for most of them. And there's sign later that she's trying to conect, in a clumsy way.
As for Tohru, she only went to highschool because her mom told her so. Kyoko stopped school in middle school. But Tohru wanted to work to support her, and it's in line with her selfish way of thinking. She doesn't want to be a burden on other.
And on the Yuki side, maybe that's the point. Maybe it's not love he wants from Tohru, not in a romantic way. But something else :3
That's why it feels so...weird to expect them as a couple ^^ As you say, he's always putting his problems on Tohru while Kyo is helping by letting her express what she feels.

I'm of the same mind about Yuki's mother too. Her and Kyo's mum in particular. Must be really hard for them both

Loved seeing Aya & Yuki’s relationship transform due to Yuki really giving him another chance due to Aya being honest about what he wanted from their relationship! Aya’s look of pure joy following Yuki standing up for him 🥺🥺🥺

I think it is important to note that Yuki is handling his trauma and taking care of it. Like opening the lid back in the beach arc, something that Tohru still hasn't opened. Yuki is dealing with his issues in a way Kyo currently can't since Kyo too is putting a lot of things in the back burner..
We also know that Yuki does want to give back and struggles with it in the Haru/ Rin episode. So I don't think we can blame Yuki for not supporting Tohru atm. Right now he is struggling and becoming his own person, becoming independent of needing Tohru and surrounding himself with his group of friends..

I had a similar moment to Yuki putting his hand on his mom's shoulder and realizing how small she actually was. I've had a lot of issues with my dad while growing up and it's caused a lot of pain. I was afraid to speak up. He was a very intimidating presence even when I became an adult.
Then, a few years ago, he was visiting me and my in-laws for a few days. I hadn't seen him in about 5 years. He was sitting across from me in a pub. And he just looked so frail and old. He was getting thinner, boney, and his hair was completely white. And he looked a little out of place among my more jovial in-laws.
He was just a sad old man sadly wishing for "the good old days." Suddenly, he wasn't my dad anymore and that made him so incredibly human to me. I still don't have a great relationship with him but I've met him at this halfway mark where we will call each other a few times a year now.
When I first read this Yuki moment in the manga I immediately thought of this moment with my dad and how relatable this feeling is-- realizing your abuser isn't actually larger than life but just a flawed human like you. Tiny and pitiful.

Oh I had that kind of a realization too and it is why Yuki's character just hits different. A lot of his moments. Feel too real

Ayame coming through! That bit of him smacking the table never fails to make me crack up (which is sorely needed as this bit of Yuki's backstory breaks my heart).
I halfway ship Hana-chan with Kazuma; I don't really think the age gap would be okay with him BUT it would also be *hilarious* if she were essentially Kyo's stepmother, and my #1 rule of shipping is that if it's funny, it's fine, lol.

Yuki's development was so good this episode! He took that step forward that is so hard for abused children to take and decided that he was going to live his life independent of what his mother wants. Good for him!
The pain in your face at the scene with Kyo... I feel you, lol. It's important, like Kazuma said, for him to get an answer later too. Something he may want for himself, even if that all seems hopeless. Right now, all Kyo wants is Tohru, though, which is beautiful, honestly.
Tohru was wearing the ribbon that Yuki got her in s1 as a way of showing her support to Yuki. That ending scene was incredible because Yuki took the strength that Tohru has been giving him, and by running off at the end with Nao, has achieved something on his hierarchy of needs. Yuki definitely has some kind of feeling for Tohru, but is it necessarily romantic, do you think? He leans on Tohru but doesn't give back as much, not in the way that Kyo does.
    Great reaction!

The scene post credits was funny. Aya was charming the members of the student council, hence why yuki was dragged there.

Ayame is epic in this episode. he generally annoys me, but with this, I love him.
Also interesting note, that people won't necessarily hear you even if you manage to speak up. But you do your part, and you haven't failed just because they don't come around.

The shigure and mayu interactions, however brief they are, might be my favorite in the entire series lol.
