so glad you picked up the subtle body language of that shiver. another reactor commented that that's something people do when recalling traumatic events, and that the bouncing is an automatic response to comfort one's self
This whole song especially the line, "is the earth coloured red, as I land like a flower on the meadow" reminds me of the famous poem by John McCrae who wrote the poem "In The Flanders Fields" Which inspired the use of the poppy as the British symbol of remembrance, in the spring of 1915, shortly after losing his friend Ypres a Canadian Doctor, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote this now famous poem after seeing poppies growing in the battle-scarred fields, they are a show of support for the Armed Forces community, those currently serving, ex-serving personnel and their families: and a symbol of Remembrance for all those have fallen in conflict. Royal British Legion In Flanders Fields The poem by John McCrae In Flanders' fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders' fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe; To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high, If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders' Fields. Thank you for reacting to this song, although my comment is a year late, I'm enjoying going back and watching your older video's, so thanks again. 🙂
A masterpiece. At the end the ghost of the protagonist seeks her revenge on her abuser/attacker. It isn’t clear what exactly happened, only that she died and remembers it being quiet. The guitarist and background singer harmonising so beautifully with Aurora is Silja Sol who was until recently a regular member of Aurora’s band.
As a survivor of domestic violence, I tear up everytime I hear this song...and this clip hits me the hardest. "Churchyard" does as well because of the correlation with an incident that happened to me. They both have helped me heal parts of myself that were left in that darkness. That shake (or flinch) to me is almost like a flash of memory being shook off and then she bounces as if she is comforting herself as she lets it go...It is actually empowering to me in my own struggles to return whole from such an experience...if that is possible. The song "Warrior" is my go to, when I am battling my inner struggles. It is inspiring to me.
Thank you Datura. Warrior is on the list to review soon. Thank you and I'm so sorry to hear that you had that experience in your life. Remember that not all people are out there to hurt you and you have a God that loves you.
I spent 18 yrs working a psych hospital and on the female adolescent unit l had both 1:1 & group sessions with survivors of sexual violence and l have to say l found the lyrics and body language to this song profoundly disturbing. I am sorry for what happened to you but glad to see that you are a survivor.
Aurora (25) and Angelina (15). Both Norwegians. Very different voices. Both eaqually heartgripping with voices out of this world. Listen to Angelina version of Beatles Yesterday.
Haik is a mini-documentary TV show in Norway where the show's producer will take an artist on a magical day full of surprise events. The first part of the documentary follows Aurora around as she experiences those surprises - it will really give you an insight into her as a person. Hard to believe, but it will probably make you love her even more! I'd really enjoy watching you react to it. The concert is the second half and you can save that for another time.
Thank you so much for mentioning this. Just watched Haik and you were right... I did not know it was possible, but now I love and adore her even more. Thank you!
It was really great that you reacted also to this video. You make grate reactions and I really like your comments along the way. I also like the expression of faith and that there is a God etc. As a Norwegian man liveing not far from where Aurora grew up, it is a grate experience to see a person enjoy Aurora as much as myself. All blessings and love; Jarle
A flower falling is beautiful, but it is also dead or dying. I love the that tension in that image, something that Aurora does incredibly well. I'm enjoying your reactions. They inspire thought, something rare indeed.
@@larryshair You’re in for a hell of a ride. I can’t wait for you to see some of her more uptempo moments too. Live at KEXP is an excellent show. Small room, select audience, great band, fun performance. Look it up. You can break up the show into small chunks to react to.
@@larryshair I was going to throw my own hat into the comments above and do my own, but, I'm going to dovetail off Kevin here.... First of all...there is SO MUCH AURORA out there....with SO MANY DIFFERENT aspects of her....I mean, she has a love song called "Exist for Love"......if you ever do that I suggest the actual official video version..... I digress...... I was going to share and comment the same thing Kevin did about wanting to see you react to some of her more uptempo stuff.....And, Live at KXP is a GREAT EXAMPLE/Concert. You don't have to react to the whole thing at one time, you can go one song at a time.....And, it's not that the lyrics are not heavy and deep, they're just delivered.....differently than you've seen so far Larry....more upbeat. Any song from that concert is great, my first two suggestions would be Soft Universe and Churchyard.....though every song on Live at KXP is gold..... Thanks for the great reaction Larry. I think you're getting a lot of followers, for one, of course, b/c it "is" Aurora, but two, you have a great ability to react and see things that the average person and reactor doesn't see, subsequently, you have deeper feelings/reactions and insights..... I was SO surprised, but also not, about you catching her furrowed brow "AND" the bouncing.....I've heard only one reactor catch this and she is an Opera Singer and she says that the bouncing is something small children, or perhaps just people, do to comfort themselves when they feel really uncomfortable....When I first heard this reactor say that I was like...."Whoa"....the look on her face when she is bouncing takes on a whole new meaning.... Anyways, thanks for the reaction Larry, and thanks Kevin for this suggestion. I think some reactions from the Live at KXP are in order!!!!!
@@shawnc666 Hey Shawn, man thank you for taking some time to comment here. Aurora is fascinating, to say the least. I’ve had a few people mention to me that some of her upbeat songs are pretty good as well. I can’t imagine she could do anything wrong. I had a few people tell me that I should watch running with the wolves. I think that I might make that my next view. Have a few things going on for the next few days so I hope to get to it in the next few days and get it posted this week. It’s fun to watch Aurora’s reaction as she sings. It’s so captivating. It’s hard to imagine that she could mess up any song... Thank you so much for the kind words. I’m enjoying every moment of her content.
She's present. I think it's more concise than saying she's in the moment. As someone who can easily get lost in my thoughts, being present is a quality I admire.
Aurora once said...and I quote......I wrote that( this song) when I was in 6th grade. I ate something for lunch and later while sitting at my desk.....I had to let it out. Get this out of my system. When I did, I felt so much better. Sometimes the inspiration for a song comes from the gut .... Over time, I changed some of the words, but kept the title. I believe it's a more mature song then it once was.
It's been such a treat watching these. Thanks so much for doing them and getting these up quickly! Also wanted to just say- no need to apologize for pausing! We're here for your thoughts and reaction, not just for the song. :)
Thanks Kiwi! I hardly know what I'm doing, but I have been loving every moment with Aurora and all of you that are willing to walk along side me in this journey! Blessings and thank you for watching!
@@larryshair Larry you're doing just fine. Stopping is totally cool as long as you rewind a bit before going on so you don't miss anything; which you are doing. So it's all good. I'm loving your discovery of Aurora.
Many of Auroras songs, she doesn't fully explain their meaning, much like a painter might give a title to their work, but let's the viewer figure out its meaning. She does give small snippets of thoughts on them. So their full interpretation is left up to the listener. You relate this to Murder Song, but I feel like it relates more to "Churchyard". Which of course you haven't heard yet, so you couldn't relate the two..lol. Aurora has a fascination with death, not in a dark way, but it shows up quite a bit in her songs. This song and Churchyard both feature parts of the song that represent a "haunting" from the grave.
Here are two amazing live performances of Churchyard, one of my favorite songs of hers: ruclips.net/video/nJLuG8c11Gk/видео.html (live at KEXP) ruclips.net/video/TfUf2N1rhwE/видео.html (acoustic version, with heavenly counter melodies in a "Gregorian" style)
Aurora delivers her performance with not only her voice but with every part of her being and so her audience will not only hear but actually "feel" the performance. Aurora doesn't simply sing, she gifts her audience with an experience.
I think that concert was wonderful...beautiful setting with the band, orchestra, harp, organ and the male choir made for a great evening from Aurora. Loved her versions of "Walking in the air" and "Life on Mars".
Aurora talks about how she's always kind of hard this strange obsession with death. She doesn't see it as sad or scary but rather a very natural transition. So she isn't afraid to sing about it, which is really unusual for our culture. But honestly if you think about it, it's a really beautiful thing. To face the fact that we're not going to be here forever. I think this is also what drives her to live life so fully and to talk about topics in great depth, topics that really are close to her heart. Like love, preserving nature, having fun and dancing... She is such an old soul and I don't think this is her first lifetime on this planet. ❤️❤️❤️
Most believe it is a sequel to 5 4 3 2 1 but maybe in a different darker side of the relationship in 5 4 3 2 1. The biggest hint IMO is "feathers falling out of the pillow as if time were standing still". In 5 4 3 2 1 he used a pillow on her head to baffle the sound and to her in this song she can see the feathers just lingering in the air in super slow motion after she was shot.
this song is my favorite Aurora-song. Listen to those lyrics! it is sooo beautiful, - sad but beautiful..... A MASTERPIECE of a song. ".....you fell apart, like a stone can be broken into sand"......
Aurora IS the art. I'm a sixty one year old ex bike club enforcer, bouncer, full of tattoos and scars, and she gets me every time I experience her. It's like experiencing a non human event. I don't consider her as 'listening to music'. I'm experiencing Aurora.
Great reaction sir in a masterpiece. Her song technic is so great in this song and her co-singer Silja sol is so important for THE Aurora sound. Hear that you take on Lucky Soon that is My favourite perfomance for all times. The emotions in that song is otherwortly.
You can hear her amazing backing vocals in "Churchyard". This is an acoustic version: ruclips.net/video/o58hKXhQLtA/видео.html My sister is a professional singer, and her vocal trio is specialized in complex harmonies. She's a fan of Aurora and Silja.
Loved this reaction. Many of her early songs have a dark undertone tinged with sadness - some are sad but wrapped in a "not so sad" package (her words). In her more recent music she starts to write songs that have messages about causes that she feels strongly about like The Seed, The River, Queendom and Cure for me. She has even written a love song - Exist for Love! i think many Aurora fans would gladly watch you react to a full concert.
I'm so glad you reacted to this performance. It is one of my favorite examples of Aurora being a conduit between the song, the audience, and emotion. I find reflections of my own experience in her movements, vocal inflection, and presence, and I very much appreciate her ability to externalize emotions in a way that I connect deeply to (and often do not with other people and performances).
Aurora has a «twin» soul i China.. Hua Chenyu (composer, rearranger, singer, performer…. versatile true artist). Please check him out … i usually never recommend Child, (all the others do 😊) but i think its fitting here. It has a Through the eyes of a Child vibe. Or I Really Want to Love this World ( about depression) Eng subs a must.
This is the immediate sequel to the Murder song (and one of my favorites of hers). The pillow was a silencer and the gun blew feathers and blood turning the Earth red. Assisting his depressed lover with suicide drove him mad and she visits in dreams. This is my opinion-but listen to all lyrics with this premise in mind and it fits so perfectly
She paints her music with her body and soul, like an artist paint a picture. This is so obvious in this particular song. The imaginary is sooooo beautiful. I just had to comment this, Larry. And that i keep comeing back to your reaction that i think is of the best out there :)
I love your analogy of Aurora's songs and the honesty and tears you bring by truly listening to her magic voice, I feel she has captivated us all through her voice and powerful lyrics, can't wait to hear your views when she sings" Lucky" keep up the great work
Responding to the idea of not reacting to the concert at Nidarosdomen. It may be a bit much, but I have seen others do it. It really is a joy reliving it while someone is taking it all in for the first time. It really is that special. Still it is understandable not to do it and enjoy it on your own. I suggest to not pause it then, but watch the whole thing through, rewatch and then analyze your experience with it. Back to this video. This song is just so fragile, but strong at the same time. Her voice very much in control, except for one fraction of a second, when she breaks out in anger. Otherwise her pose is serene. As you I notice her shiver at times. Wow, what is going on in that head of hers. The song itself sounds like a kind of revenge reaction to an earlier situation. From a victim, who was lead to believe in something good, but it really wasn't. Murder, rape? I have seen all kind of explanations coming along.
You should watch the official video for "The Seed", it really has to be seen how she envisioned it should look. I hope you're watching the official video to "Running with the Wolves" as well because it's more powerful with the story playing out around her.
For me this is a rape/date-rape/abuse/incest type of situation from the perspective of the victim, who only remembers red flowers in the meadow through the window. Very dark but strangely empowering. Love is wild.
We love Aurora and enjoy your reactions too :D That's why you get a lot of comments. I've watched a lot of reactions videos, and for some of them, I wouldn't bother commenting for reasons (I don't want to be mean so no details). Your videos are great because good quality, and because you're nice and share interesting reactions.
As usual great reaction from your side. You also pay attention on many details like her movement: f.e. as she moved in one moment on her feet up and down (which is usually used to calm down). Too be honest does not know everything about this lyrics but is something about violence or/and abusive relation. But many said already many things about this songs and does not want to repeat it. And BTW: it is nice to interpret her songs - it is often like a puzzle and not easy to understand right away (but there are also more straightforward ones). Sometimes people have different ideas but it is also great :). Thank you for a reaction. Ps. And about full concert. I wound not mean and watch but I also agree that there is not a need to rush it out, but right moment is up to you. I would watch reaction for concert anyway:).
The lyrics in this song seem to speak of a 'crime of passion' where we are hearing the testimony of the now deceased victim (just like we did in Murder Song.). It's almost like she's trying to remember what happened, but the trauma of her death has suppressed the memory so she can only speak of flashes of images. "Eyes, blue and hollow." "Feathers falling out of a pillow." I envision a raging argument with a jealous lover where he pushes her from an upstairs window in a moment of insanity and she has fallen to her death. "Is the earth coloured red, as I land like a flower on the meadow?" "Love is wild!" Although Aurora doesn't often go into detail about the meaning of her lyrics, she does often say what the original idea was that sparked the creative process. For Murder Song, it sprang from reading in a newspaper about a man who had euthanized his wife, at her request, because she was terminally ill and had nothing but terrible suffering ahead of her. It was a terrible heartbreaking act, but more importantly, it was absolutely an act of true love. Unfortunately, I haven't seen her say anything about 'It Happened Quiet,' but I think it's quite clear.
I have seen all of your Aurora reactions by now, and I really recognize your journey. It's a lovely one, you will find gold whatever song you choose. I like to give you some information that I think is useful for you on your continued journey... First, Auroras fanbase is called "Warriors and Weirdos". "Warriors" stems from the fact that we all have struggles in our lives, and we fight them every day - plus it's an encouragement to us to stand up for what is good in life, to be Warriors of light. Weirdos is based around that we all are a bit weird, and that we should embrace our differences and not seek to be average or "normal" - whatever that is. The Warriors and Weirdos are known to be very strongly connected to Aurora. Devoted , some might say... The guy playing guitar at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert is called Odd Martin. He was with her in the beginning of her career. You will see him pop in now and then. The girl on this one is called Silja Sol, and have been with her a tad later, and will appear more often on your journey. She have left the band now recently (sadly), as she is focusing more on her own career. You might find some of her music pleasing, but she sing in Norwegian. I agree with you. Take song by song and savour them. Each one is a beautiful treasure. You might want to check out some of the documentaries to get to know her a little better. That's it for now - Welcome to Queendom, Warrior.
Hi Larry 🙂 thank you for the video ! I like this song too, but dont forget infections of différent kind live Haïk concert 😉. Im French and you can see that the magical songs of Aurora are accross the Word 🙂 waiting for your next video 👍
Aurora has once said she usually tries not to tell her listeners what's the exact story behind a certain song, so that everyone can have their own interpretation. For me, this song is about losing one's virginity with a partner who has no emotions towards you. So the blood in bed may be both literal and metaphorical. There's one partner whose eyes are "blue and hollow", and words "It Happened Quiet" express this lack of emotion in the sexual act. They contradict with the emotional "bleeding" of the other partner, who was probably very much in love.
Nice reactions once again. and you actually choosed the version that i personally think is the best of this song, but none of Aurora performances is bad, this is just a matter of taste what you like. When you take away everything and its just the 2 of them, i think the songs "soul" is more visible. The guitarplayer is Silja Sol Dyngeland, who has been a part of Aurora's band since 2014 up until may of 2021. Silja, has had a career for many years as a solo-artist, she has even won the norwegian "grammy" for one of her albums. But its difficult to have an own career when travelling all the time with Aurora. She left Aurora's band now in may to concentrate on her own career, and of course their still very good friends and now hard feelings after she left the Aurora band. Silja has been a very important puzzle in Auroras career, their voices are perfect fit for each other and the harmonies between them created the "sound" we all got used to. And shure, as you say, everything labelled Aurora is a must see.
Aurora is a introvert she’s more comfortable singing than talking to people you should watch some of documentaries of her and her life, she is a innocent soul just singing her truth through her soul. She is an amazing young lady with a angelic voice
Thank you for your reactions to Aurora. Too many reactors put up a show to get views and likes. U keep it real! And so is she! You should check out Angelina Jordan next - start with I put a spell on you, Black n white version. She is also, as Aurora, from Norway. Regards from 🇧🇻
This is love going wrong... an argument, ending in her getting pushed out of the Window, landing on the medow, turning the ground red with blood - "dont speak over my voice" meaning dont tell lies about what happend, or i will return too haunt you - bleed in your bed and turning it red - as the ground outside his Window. Beautiful, haunting and Chills...🥶
@@LarsCHansen So it sounds like I might have been on the right track, but I LOVE the back-stories. So, I wanted to let you know first. I just watched Angelina's Summertime and "yesterday" cover. Hooo --boy. I sense another deep dive coming! I'm blown away. I like her jazz approach to her singing! I think that I need to move to Norway where all the true talent is :)
If you have the time, you should do the entire Aurora concert at Nidarosdomen. You would need about an hour and a half - but it is just magic! And, as a bonus, you get to know Aurora better... 😉
I always thought this song was tied to her song "churchyard". But that's an interesting interpretation you have too! That's the amazing thing about her songs. She leaves them open for interpretation 👍😌☺️
LARRY! You proud papa! Thank you for allowing yourself to be vulnerable and sharing that experience with me. I deeply appreciate you backing up after pausing so that the emotion can continue to build! THIS SETS YOU APART!! PLEASE CONTINUE!! Aurora comments in an interview that her song “ A different kind of human “ is a type of progression from either an earlier song or perhaps album. Clearly look into this but your mention of connection made me think of this AND the song above mentioned is Phenomenal!! STUNNING!! IT WILL MOVE YOU! I consume a lot of music. This specific song by Aurora pulled me out of a 4 year dark cold debilitating depression. PLEASE PLEASE DO A LIVE!! No response needed. I’m not religious per se but this angelic child binds is all…. Blessings friend.
She is very cryptic about what the lyrics are about. If anyone thinks they understand that it is about rape or abuse, then she says that yes it can be. It's okay if someone else feels something completely different. There is nothing right or wrong. But she has said ther is a link between murder song and It Happe quiet. All albums so far there is little pointer and link to the next album and on to the next. The upcoming album will probably explain everything, we have to believe her. Not so sure what I am. There is probably a plan for the next 3-4 albums and. She has always said that she has a long-term vision with music. The music and everything around is bigger than me. She said in an interview.
Thanks Arvid. Leaving it up the the listener to interpret is always cool, but it makes you wonder of what live-events causes a young girl to think these deep thoughts up. Incredible talent! Thank you for your comments! Blessings!
@@larryshair I get the impression that she is highly sensitive and empathetic and that it is mainly events around her or what she picks up in different ways, from different sources, that is the main inspiration for her songs. Either way it is mindblowing how young she was when writing the lyrics to some of these songs!
The song is not a sequell but nevertheless all songs on the respective album are connected by the theme. The song is about domestic violence that goes all the way to death. He kills her in a dispute. For me, a possible rape in advance also plays a role here. After the murder, she comes back as a ghost and haunts him. Or it's just his guilty conscience. In both cases, he can no longer find peace, because her voice is louder in his head than anything else. I hope your journey with Aurora continues for a long time. She has a loyal fanbase. She has released and unreleased over 70 songs. I like your reactions. With Aurora's live songs and concerts you don't have to be afraid of blocking for over 90%. Entire concerts (Niderosdomen) theoretically do not need to be interrupted in the songs. Unless you want to. Aurora fans also watch concert reactions in their entires and also their documentaries. They are really interesting and worth seeing and moving. She is herself. You can see that she is the way she is and why she is like that. It's also fun. Haik Documentary Once Aurora (partly harrowing and moving. You can see how it almost breaks. That really hurts to look at. The girl you really just want to protect) Btw. Because you mentioned her fashion style. It's probably cheaper than yours. Aurora doesn't like expensive stuff. Her sister does a lot of her clothes and her other sister does the little makeup she wears. She buys everything from cheap shops. Her backround singer is Silia Sol. She is also a solo artist, but she and aurara have been on stage together for a long time. Unfortunately not anymore, because she wants to continue her solo career. She is greatly missed. Learn more in Aurora's documentaries. "in Boxes" is also a great title and very black humorous. In this song, she is a female serial killer herself. That's funny because you just can't imagine Aurora and the lyrics are really overly morbid. It sounds strange but the song is really fun. 😁
Aurora has said that it is connected to Murder song specifically so it would be a sequel of sorts. She is a huge fan of Kate Bush. Kate Bush released “The Ninth Wave” a collection of songs linked to each other as a continuing story, possible influence?
@@katiestevens9887 No, Aurora didn't say that. She said kind of connected. That doesn't necessarily mean the story is the same. This can also only be the overarching topic. How, for example, the theme of nature or death connects many songs.
A very thoughtful review of a very difficult song. My take on it is it's about a consensual relationship gone very bad. Most rape takes place in existing relationships, not the stereotypical idea we have in our heads. It happens quiet, so much so that often no one notices. You have met the amazing Silja Sol, the singer, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and successful artist in Norway in her own right. Aurora being who she is has collected an amazing crew of regulars in her 'band' and Silja is one of the very best.
Great observation and I totally agree. With a song like this, it's hard not to be ushered into the presence of something very deep. I am so falling in love with her songs so quickly...
@@larryshair It's not all doom and gloom in Aurora's world. People tend to point reactors toward her sadder songs because they like to see a big emotional reaction. If you want a more balanced look at her work I would suggest throwing in some of her more uplifting songs like Warrior, Queendom, or Conqueror. Although it is a sad song too I Went Too Far live from the Honda Stage is a really good intro to some of her more up-tempo work.
@@heavyhitter321 This is going to be a lot of fun, Double-H! Several people have told me that she has some pretty uplifting songs as well so I’m definitely in the mood for a bit of a change to see what else she has. Thank you so much for your comment in joining me as I’m watching these videos. Means a lot.
Watch the HAIK documentary privately, then watch some of the clips from the concert in the reaction format. The HAIK (Norwegian for "hike") is a tv show where they select an artist and plan a day of surprises for them as a thank you for what they have given to the public. In Aurora's case, the day ends with a concert. She was informed that there would be a concert but not where it would be. The documentary provides brilliant insights into Aurora's special personality and her motivation for creating music. PS At the stage in her life shown in this clip, Aurora cut her own hair with large scissors (hence her uneven fringe). She says that she doesn't like people to touch her head and face and that is why she has her older sister Miranda as her make up artist. Just some aspects of her quirky personality. Another point that comes up in her on stage banter and in interviews is that she is not as innocent as she looks, she can be hilariously risque at times.
I have to admit, I watched one of Angelina's covers, "Yesterday" just yesterday! I watched that one just for me :) Wow. You and several others are spot-on. She will definitely be on my list! Thank you very much for your comments!
@@larryshair Sigrid (Sigrid Solbakk Raabe) is also a Norwegian singer with some international acclaim that fit somewhat in between Aurora and Angelina. You should check her out.
Concerning viewing a whole concert , you could try "Aurora live at KEXP Iceland 2018" , it is only 35 mins long and considered by many as a "must see" . It is very different from what you have seen so far , it is intimate lively and fun all at the same time.
Hello again! I would just like to thank you for yet another great reaction to Aurora. This is really great stuff my friend. Loving it :-) It's very hard to break down Aurora's lyrics most of the time. And that's the way she wants it to be. She's painting pictures and using a lot of metaphors, giving each individual the possibility to interpret somewhat differently, mostly based off of that individual's personal experiences. That's what art is all about IMO, but very few artists are able to do it as delicately as Aurora. I can't wait to follow you on your journey :-) Love from Norway :-)
Hey Pool! Hard not to forget your name ; ) I can't wait, either! Live is busy, but this is worth the time spent for me in watching these with anyone interested in the journey. Sooo incredible so far...
Thanks again for a great reaction! There are so many magnificent performances of Aurora to check out, and I am here for it! And I am glad to see that you got Angelina on your list too - totally different style artist, but totally amazing. Can't wait for you to get to the Haik concert performances, though if you want to go back in time a bit and see younger Aurora - there are some great songs here ruclips.net/video/QFrK3QgRqFI/видео.html from when she was 18 doing her first large music festival.
Aurora had a idyllic childhood living near the Fjords and forest in Norway , she claims there was not a TV or radio in her home when she was a child and that her parents listened to Leonard Cohen and Enya on the Record player (you can hear the influences in her music) . Much of her writing was drawn from articles she read in the newspapers and even rumours about people in her town. The only thing she claims not to have enjoyed was school , she couldn't sit still and says " i had ants in my butt" and the teacher would let her run a circuit around the school to disperse some of her energy. If ive got anything wrong im sure someone will comment Lol.
When you visit “Warrior please consider “Aurora - HIAK” time stamp is 6:15 to 13:16. Two fans are given a private performance. This is a small glimpse into how wonderful this human being is. Thank you so much for the time and effort put into these videos. Aurora calls us fans warriors and weirdos and we are genuinely excited when someone new discovers her and who she is. be sure to turn on Closed Captioning. Be well.
My interpretation of this, is a story of domestic violence sequence that went fast like a split second, hence it happened quiet. And tells of revenge and payback in the end with the lyric of "don't you speak over my voice" that's a counter to the violence that happened in the first half of the song (Love is indeed wild) . I definitely enjoyed your take on this. Cheers!!! Also the big concerts are present as the whole thing or just individually cut songs from it, which you can address 1 by 1 or do them altogether. Any would be great honestly. Her guitarist and background vocalist's name is Silja Sol, that has been with Aurora for a long time as well as two other members of her band. You can see all of them very clear in the KEXP concert or in the video of A Different Kind Of Human which is live as well in a studio.
Her backup singer was a member of her band. Her name is Silja Sol. Try to listen to some of Aurora’s covers too. They are Auroralised. Aurora is also the voice of the NORTH in Diseneys Frozen II
I really think Norway has something in the water. They seem to produce an abundance of topnotch artists. If you'd like to do a second journey, you might take a peek at Angelina Jordan, another Norwegian. Aurora has this wispy, delicate forest fairy aura and voice that is unlike anyone else that I'm aware of. It's easy to get lost in her world.
I found your videos ng chance and I’m now hooked. Long time Aurora fan! She did 2 songs here in australia for a station called triple j! You should listen to her version of massive attack - tear drop and across the universe by the Beatles. :)
She's talking about heartbreak. There's a fragility in her voice at times and a strength at others. Which is the diversity of a breakup..."love is wild" is sang very meloncoly. The "dont speak over my voice" is kind of the fight, it's the argument...or maybe it's the trying to take back the power. I love this song.
Many of her songs do have a personal backstory. For example, the song There Was a Boy commerates a mass shooting of eleven in Norway, one of which was a friend of hers.
@@rx7dude2006 I kinda figured. I heard that she played at the Hana center and I live literally 5 miles away from it. I wish I had known about her years ago so I could’ve gone. Have an awesome time! It’s going to be well worth the trip

Great list. Consider listening to Angelina Jordan too, if you haven't already. She's on MY top spot, ahead of Aurora. I believe I have Eivør 3rd. But I'm a HUGE fan of Joni Mitchell too. Not to mention the entire Fleetwood Mac. Epic music! Greetings from Norway :-) Btw. The thing about watching the concerts is that her best performances come from the Nidarosdomen concert and the Haik concert I believe.Maybe you could just watch each performance in the order they were performed in the concert and upload then one at a time?
@@larryshair I duly concur. Seriously though, treating each of AURORA’s songs individually is, in my viewer-experience, often the most enjoyable, robust and successful (as well as respectful) approach. After a first listen, there is no such thing as a “first” experience redo. I would advocate to at least utilize the song by song approach to her most widely beloved work - which is what you have actually been doing. Nidarosdomen is the one concert that seems to universally be on her fan’s best or one of the best AURORA concert list. Please note, there are no song debuts at Nidaresdomen, KEXP, Honda Stage, or Haik. I hope your journey, however it manifests, continues to be special for you. PEACE to the community of AUROA appreciators (ah, and to everyone else too). ✌🏼And appreciation to her musical colleagues and team.
This song is a follow up to Murder Song... when she talks about the feathers falling from the pillow, I think he used the pillow to muffle the sound when he shot her. And later in the song when she says that she bleeds in his bed, turns it red, it's when she dies.
ive always heard and thought it was a follow to churchyard, in which he says she belongs in a churchyard(graveyard) murder song was about a specific couple Aurora read about in the newspaper, in which the husband killed the sick wife to stop her suffering. it happenned quiet, she is killed by the lover (from churchyard) and then returns as a ghost to turn his bed red with blood, like the ground outside the window he threw her from and died.
@@corrob oh I didn't know this information, since her songs aren't usually explained, I gathered from the stories that they were related.. thank you for the explanation..
Each album Aurora has had a different band. Other than Magnus her drummer and kind of band manager. I'm not certain to why this is. But in her newest live performances the band is new again. She doesn't have a female back up now. But a male one.
In my experience there are two people in this world: Those who love Aurora, and those who haven't found her yet
Well-said!
oui, un concert comme Nidarosdomen en entier : merci d'avance.
so glad you picked up the subtle body language of that shiver. another reactor commented that that's something people do when recalling traumatic events, and that the bouncing is an automatic response to comfort one's self

Wonderful song! She is really amazing. I hear a lot of Leonard Cohen in this song.
I think she was talking about the earth being destroyed when she talked about the rock dust
Royal British Legion
In Flanders Fields
The poem by John McCrae
In Flanders' fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders' Fields.
Thank you for reacting to this song, although my comment is a year late, I'm enjoying going back and watching your older video's, so thanks again. 🙂
Aurora IS the song! ❤
Silja is just soo great backing her..
Silja (Silja Sol) will be missed. I know she has her own solo career to pursue.
@@kevdenn i saw aurora in concert in august and i missed Silja. they were so brilliant together
@@larryshair thank you for these lovely words
I spent 18 yrs working a psych hospital and on the female adolescent unit l had both 1:1 & group sessions with survivors of sexual violence and l have to say l found the lyrics and body language to this song profoundly disturbing.

Thanks for sharing your reaction to AURORA. It’s great to share together.
Aurora (25) and Angelina (15). Both Norwegians. Very different voices. Both eaqually heartgripping with voices out of this world. Listen to Angelina version of Beatles Yesterday.
Hi Frode! I listened to "Yesterday" on my own before this one. You are right. It was incredible!
And the forest where the concert is held isn’t far from where she grew up ❤️
Thank you so much for mentioning this. Just watched Haik and you were right... I did not know it was possible, but now I love and adore her even more. Thank you!
@@heikeburger9111 Your welcome! I'm glad you got to watch it - she really is quite amazing.

A flower falling is beautiful, but it is also dead or dying. I love the that tension in that image, something that Aurora does incredibly well. I'm enjoying your reactions. They inspire thought, something rare indeed.

You’re in for a hell of a ride.
I can't believe you actually decided to react to a different version of the song.....!!! Woo Hoo!!!
I haven't watched it yet.......Nice!
She's present. I think it's more concise than saying she's in the moment. As someone who can easily get lost in my thoughts, being present is a quality I admire.
I love your reactions of her
You are such a heartfelt person - never apologize for your reactions, I love them because they are so real...👌🏼

Thank you Jeff!
This song and Churchyard both feature parts of the song that represent a "haunting" from the grave.
yes very true, but it seems like a lot of her song are interchangeable! But I've heard so many of her songs so I may just be biased hehe
Here are two amazing live performances of Churchyard, one of my favorite songs of hers: ruclips.net/video/nJLuG8c11Gk/видео.html (live at KEXP)
ruclips.net/video/TfUf2N1rhwE/видео.html (acoustic version, with heavenly counter melodies in a "Gregorian" style)
Aurora delivers her performance with not only her voice but with every part of her being and so her audience will not only hear but actually "feel" the performance. Aurora doesn't simply sing, she gifts her audience with an experience.
Another great reaction. The Nidarosdomen concert is really special for all the Aurora's fans, feel free to react to that if you want. We will be here!
Awesome, thanks Luiz!
I'm about to go watch one after this :D
I think that concert was wonderful...beautiful setting with the band, orchestra, harp, organ and the male choir made for a great evening from Aurora. Loved her versions of "Walking in the air" and "Life on Mars".
This song for me is the most Hauntingly beautiful song I've heard from her
Thank you for this review. Would love to hear more reviews on Aurora, your reaction is so interesting. Thanks
Wow, chills reading that!
this song is my favorite Aurora-song.
"Plaid father" You get her more than most, i think. Thanks.
Thanks FB!!! Much appreciated :)
Great reaction sir in a masterpiece. Her song technic is so great in this song and her co-singer Silja sol is so important for THE Aurora sound. Hear that you take on Lucky Soon that is My favourite perfomance for all times. The emotions in that song is otherwortly.
Definitely on the list :)
The guitarist is her phenomenal backup singer, Silja Sol.
You can hear her amazing backing vocals in "Churchyard". This is an acoustic version: ruclips.net/video/o58hKXhQLtA/видео.html
My sister is a professional singer, and her vocal trio is specialized in complex harmonies.
Thanks again Mario!
And can you imagine what an amazing actress Aurora would be if she ever decided to go in that direction?
You know, that is what I was thinking as well. She would be incredible.

I also recommend the musician from China Hua Chenyu. As Eli writes, He and Aurora have similar artistic souls.
Very much indeed!

I support you. Please react to Hua Chenyu 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey Geralt! Thank you for taking your time to contribute a comment. This has been quite the adventure so far...
I like that take about the pillow being used as a silencer for a gun shot since afterwards she says "it happened quiet, so quiet"
She paints her music with her body and soul, like an artist paint a picture. This is so obvious in this particular song. The imaginary is sooooo beautiful. I just had to comment this, Larry. And that i keep comeing back to your reaction that i think is of the best out there :)
Девушка очень красиво и божественно поёт!Очень тонко!👏👏🌹

There's a market in commonality. We enjoy watching people discover the amazing things and artists we love and loving them equally.
Her performance of the The Seed from the Earth Day live stream has been haunting me over the last few days. I love it so much, highly recommend!
Such a great song. It's amazing to share the journey of knowing Aurora with you, looking forward for more :)
Thank you Julia!
Great video! I also love the way Aurora seems to be a part of the song, even before she starts singing.
Thank you! 😄
Thanks, JD, for your kind words. It truly means alot to me! Blessings!
Two particularly uplifting songs by Aurora are Warrior and Conqueror, both live on the Honda Stage!
Hey Steph, yes, several people seem to agree with you :) I will definitely add them to the list! Thanks for thinking to make a comment!
The lyrics in this song seem to speak of a 'crime of passion' where we are hearing the testimony of the now deceased victim (just like we did in Murder Song.). It's almost like she's trying to remember what happened, but the trauma of her death has suppressed the memory so she can only speak of flashes of images.
"Eyes, blue and hollow." "Feathers falling out of a pillow."
I envision a raging argument with a jealous lover where he pushes her from an upstairs window in a moment of insanity and she has fallen to her death.
"Is the earth coloured red, as I land like a flower on the meadow?" "Love is wild!"
Although Aurora doesn't often go into detail about the meaning of her lyrics, she does often say what the original idea was that sparked the creative process.
Just found your channel mate, great reaction, keep up the good work. BTW, I love Aurora, glad you found her too. 😊👍
Thank you Craven! BTW, it's not even close to work ; )
I have seen all of your Aurora reactions by now, and I really recognize your journey.
Wow, thanks Rune. I love this kind of stuff. Things like that make me appreciate other aspects of her as well. Thank you! Blessings.
Hi Larry 🙂 thank you for the video ! I like this song too, but dont forget infections of différent kind live Haïk concert 😉. Im French and you can see that the magical songs of Aurora are accross the Word 🙂 waiting for your next video 👍
Thank you Agnes!
She does quite a few "live studio performances". So her Live performances come in many different forms.
Good interpretation. Listening back i can see that.
@@kevdenn Thank you! 🙏
Very interesting. I kind of like it when an artist leaves a meaning to be interpreted by the observer.

Thank you PK! It's nice to have you along for the ride!
Thanks! Comments like yours really help put a frame around Aurora and give that special content. Thanks very much for your comment contribution!
Aurora is a introvert she’s more comfortable singing than talking to people you should watch some of documentaries of her and her life, she is a innocent soul just singing her truth through her soul. She is an amazing young lady with a angelic voice

Thanks so much, Amanda! You are so very kind. It's so touching to know that Aurora helped you in this way. She is very precious.
Haik Documentary
Once Aurora (partly harrowing and moving. You can see how it almost breaks. That really hurts to look at. The girl you really just want to protect)
Btw.
Aurora herself have said they are connected - as in exploring the challenges of relations.
@@annebritraaen2237 I said so. They are connected by topic but not the same story.
Hi Coyote! Thank you for the comment! I love this kind of background!!! Thank you for taking some time to write your comment!
I love this kind of back story, thanks! The hair thing of cutting it on her own is absolutely adorable!
Hey Larry.
I'm loving you, loving Aurora!!
Please keep up the good work.
Truly, your reactions are great to see and be involved with. 😀
Thank you Matt!!
Aurora, Angelina Jordan and Charlotte Summers all retreat into their heads when performing. Total Talent.
Thats THE concert that started my Aurora journey. After that I was stucked...
That concert is incredible
Hello again! I would just like to thank you for yet another great reaction to Aurora. This is really great stuff my friend. Loving it :-)
It's very hard to break down Aurora's lyrics most of the time. And that's the way she wants it to be. She's painting pictures and using a lot of metaphors, giving each individual the possibility to interpret somewhat differently, mostly based off of that individual's personal experiences. That's what art is all about IMO, but very few artists are able to do it as delicately as Aurora.
I can't wait to follow you on your journey :-)
Love from Norway :-)
Be well.
If you watch Churchyard make sure it's the live version on KEXP! That entire concert is out of this word :)
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Z! Sounds like I was close but I love these back-stories. Blessings!
Its connected (sequel) to murder song:)
Definitely sounds like domestic abuse. And maybe that's his suicide, outside his window.
Her backup singer was a member of her band. Her name is Silja Sol. Try to listen to some of Aurora’s covers too. They are Auroralised. Aurora is also the voice of the NORTH in Diseneys Frozen II
"Auroralised" nice one!
Thanks Torfinn!
The guitarplayer is also a Norwegian artist Silja Sol ,singer and composer singing in norwegian
If aliens ever visit us we should send Aurora first to speak so we stand a chance not to be wiped out.
LOL!
I'm going to see her in LA in November I just wish Silja was with her still, her vocals are amazing.
Nice!
@@larryshair Yeah I'm driving 1,100 miles from Seattle, WA, crazy I know.
@@rx7dude2006 I should look to see if they have any more seats. I'm about 40 miles from LA so I have no excuse ; )
@@larryshair I think its sold out, but there are some places still selling them for an insane amount.
@@rx7dude2006 I kinda figured. I heard that she played at the Hana center and I live literally 5 miles away from it. I wish I had known about her years ago so I could’ve gone. Have an awesome time! It’s going to be well worth the trip
My favorite female singers of all time :
1. Aurora 🇳🇴 and Karen Carpenter 🇺🇸
2. Lara Fabian 🇨🇦and Amira Willinghagen 🇳🇱
3. Stevie Nicks 🇺🇸 and Joni Mitchell 🇨🇦
Portland Oregon USA 🇺🇸
Excellent list! You can hardly beat the crystal-clear voice of Karen Carpenter. Stevie is awesome as well!
When I saw your name I couldn't help but suggest you take a look at Angelina Jordan 9 years old in this, performing Unchained Melody. I'll give you the link : ruclips.net/video/wPfMzMeBLbo/видео.html
@@poolhallshark I forgot to add Angelina Jordan to my list. I’ve been following her since ‘I Put a Spell on You’ (barefoot and singing at 9-years-old) She is definitely a unique one-of-a-kind singing voice 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I find that the more intimate the setting the better Aurora is. You should look at and react to the Haik documentary and concert.
The thing about watching the concerts is that her best performances come from the Nidarosdomen concert and the Haik concert I believe.Maybe you could just watch each performance in the order they were performed in the concert and upload then one at a time?
That's actually a pretty decent idea. Let me look into that option.
And later in the song when she says that she bleeds in his bed, turns it red, it's when she dies.
ive always heard and thought it was a follow to churchyard, in which he says she belongs in a churchyard(graveyard)
murder song was about a specific couple Aurora read about in the newspaper, in which the husband killed the sick wife to stop her suffering.
it happenned quiet, she is killed by the lover (from churchyard) and then returns as a ghost to turn his bed red with blood, like the ground outside the window he threw her from and died.
@@corrob oh I didn't know this information, since her songs aren't usually explained, I gathered from the stories that they were related.. thank you for the explanation..
About the whole concert thing, nothing wagered nothing lost. I believe some of her best is live, especially her interaction with the audience
Each album Aurora has had a different band. Other than Magnus her drummer and kind of band manager. I'm not certain to why this is. But in her newest live performances the band is new again. She doesn't have a female back up now. But a male one.
