Hi Tim, great video a always. My understanding for all of the figures in this set is that at the moment, no "tooling" exists yet and would only be made once the figure is a go for production. Until then, they will be 3D printed for the sculpt, cleaned up and any imperfections fixed, and then painted for promotional photography. 3D printing isn't yet suitable for mass production of action figures so thats why we still need the tooling to be made. There's a great video from Valaverse that shows most of the process.

Secondly, there have been a lot of effects pieces released in 3.75 over the years but we have never seen a stun blast effect in any line. It’s made many appearances in Star Wars especially recently with the bad batch, the acolyte, and even the sequels. Would this be an effect you would like to see and what figures could it come with?
Hi, BB! Love your Vintage Collection videos and positivity! Your takes on fandom and collecting are always enjoyably refreshing. I’m intrigued by the Cantina and wondering about potential future HasLabs from my all-time favorite movie, the original Star Wars: Sandcrawler (too niche?), Death Star Playset (too abstracted?), Tantive IV Vehicle (too big?)... Something unique like a Docking Bay lightsaber duel playset could be exciting; the only moment in the entire saga where we see Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Artoo, Threepio, Obi-Wan and Vader together in a single scene, plus a few stormtroopers. While it sounds great on paper, it’d most likely be absurdly massive, even if modular, and dependent on some sort of Falcon. The Cantina does check a lot of boxes, especially with previously unreleased figures. But, my hunch is, we won’t see another HasLab for the original movie anytime soon, if ever. Here’s my QFNW: With so much new and old media to pull from, what are the chances the Cantina is the only real shot collectors have at owning a Star Wars (1977) HasLab? Cheers!
For the 50th Anniversary of ANH, I would love all of Red & Gold Squadron pilots single carded. Biggs, Wedge, Porkins, Red Leader, all of them. An updated Tarkin and Yularen, General DoDonna would be awesome. I would buy 2 of Vader's TIE. Although I have the TLC Yavin Base transport from Legacy, I would definitely buy another in Kenner packaging if they re-released it. That would be a great small vehicle. And that leads me to my QFNW: If you could only pick one, would you choose the Yavin base control room with tactical screens and computer displays, or a Death Star briefing room, like the whole round table with officers? And do you think they could pull off an elaborate playset like the BOBF Throne or if those would need to be a Haslab?

I'm definitely thinking Fenn Rau (as discussed in this episode), The Grand Inquisitor (Rebels version, totally different head sculpt to the one released), Agent Kallus and the wonderfully sarcastic and droll AP-5 would fill in some of the gaps in this series! I keep the cardbacks as you can stack them so they don't take up much space. When I was a kid, I always wanted to keep instructions and cardbacks, but my mom wouldn't let me as she always made me throw away anything paper or cardboard.
Great episode as always love the new vc card per episode number! Q: What must do things should hasbro always do moving forward, i will list a couple just to get the ball rolling. Deluxe figures should never be new figures repaints are acceptable but classing them as world building to include piece of the world is much better. Lightsaber and Lightsaber hilts are required for every Jedi figure.. if possible i'd also love a force hand included for jedi to be swappable. No figure should like Morgan Elsbeth ever come with no items, or just a cup, Worst case senario pack them with common imperial/rebel blasters, but world building screams out! And of course.. four packs as Character only packs, or Army building packs, don't mix and match these!

If you could add another vehicle from Rebels to tvc, would you rather it be an inquisitor's tie fighter with another inquisitor, a tie defender (which we've never had in 3.75" before), or a Mandalorian fighter with a Fenn Rau figure?

Great video as always, Tim! Tier characters, like the three base figures, look great but they are prototypes. The steel tooling molds that are so expensive do not exist yet. Yes, the design and sculpting work is far along. But tooling is the hard steel pieces used to actually manufacture the toys. The steel tooling is what is super expensive these days and why we see so much reuse and repaints. Have a wonderful week!

Uploaded a couple of weeks ago (Title: "Epic Star Wars Sandcrawler Scale Model Build"). Close to when the Cantina was announced. Gives an indication how detailed the Vehicle could be with interesting features.

Personally I expect a new Landspeeder and a Dewack in this Return to Tatooine / ANH era. And I pray for a new Tarkin. My question for next week. Why Hasbro put so less effort and love for the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back? We just received the Carbon Freezing Chamber, Slave I (I mean Sprayfighter 😅) and some repacked figures. Some collectors like me are tired of Hasbro’s behavior of taking advantage of us. I reject the fear so many have that if we don’t back it, TVC will end.
Costs too much. End of. I worked in the plastic injection molding industry for years, and i know this is less than 50 bucks worth of plastic, and thats being extremely generous. 500 big ones is disgusting. They are passing on all the tooling and logistical costs onto us. Shame.
I’d love to have the Cantina but I really don’t think I can afford it. In my opinion having a haslab every year is too much. Every other yr for me would be better.
14:15 my thoughts exactly on the retro collection. They keep making it so there are obviously buyers for it. Also I do think it’s odd seeing new media in the retro, like I know it’s the style not specifically the characters but still to me odd.
QFNW: We need a new AT-AT Driver in TVC and the closest thing we've gotten to a super-articulated Driver is the Legacy figure from 2009. Unfortunately, that figure is not great and giving OT troopers removable helmets with Clone heads underneath is something that I hope NEVER makes a comeback in any Star Wars line. So, do you believe that figure can be retooled with a new, non-removable helmet to be a passable TVC release or would it be better for Hasbro to just start over from scratch and give us a completely new AT-AT Driver with fully updated articulation?

My question is often Hasbro, Lego, Hot Toys, hot wheels and other toy companies all release new figures of the same character around the same time- for example black series and hot toys Arena Boba Fett, or TVC Bad Batch Rex, Lego Rex's Microfighter, and the black series Rex Helmet. Do you know if Disney/Lucasfilm tells the toy companies what and when to do these kinds of things, or is it just most companies agree what characters sell well?
I just don't have the space for stuff like the Cantina set. *sigh. Possibly the only the like this I'd ever spring for is if Haslabs did an Executor bridge set or Death Star overbridge.

A new X-Wing sounds great! Some features besides a steady set of wings (re-use Poe Dameron’s X wing) could be a more movie accurate paint job (Dagobah crash scene), yellow ladder the pilots always use, a fuel port for refueling (Yavin base scenes), and more detail and paint in the cockpit, especially the targeting computer that the pilots use in the trench run (A New Hope)!

I believe Hasbro really muddied the waters and started mass confusion with the future of Haslab figures by offering the extra Ghost figures to the general public (different cardback), but the same figure nontheless.

Hey Bossk QFNW: What do you think about the Hasbro making the Tonnika Sisters being Haslab exclusive and basically pay walled behind a very expensive play set ? I am asking because for years collectors were asking these figures and voted in every possible poll to have them in TVC. Now for me and for many people this is a very expensive set that I can not afford at the moment. I think that these kind of decisions are weakening the community. Because next time when people are are going to vote for a figure they will be thinking “Will this be also a exclusive and paywalled”. I am sure that this set made a lot of OT collectors happy but also made a lot of other collectors sad, that wants this set but just can not afford. I believe we should bot encourage Hasbro to paywall figures that vast majority of collectors want. Maybe to make every one happy Hasbro can make a Haslab just for these figures in a more reasonable price. This would also be great for both carded and loose collectors. In short perhaps Hasbro thought that the sisters wouldnt sell well in the main line. There have been plenty of instances over years where requested figures havent sold well. When the sisters won Last Figure Standing I saw plenty of negative comments such has 'why do people want two characters so bad that were on screen for 5 seconds' or 'I just dont get the hype for the Tonnika sisters'

Collector since 1978. I buy all of the new media Retro Collection figures. I don't bother with the OT reruns as I've owned most of them in the past. My brother in law and one of my friends (same age) are all in on Retro.
Hey Bossk Great Video as always. I agree with you about the Retro Collection figures. I don't understand why they are making versions of them from the New Media. Complete the Original 96! I think that there will Always be a demand for those. As far as the Andor figures for TVC, I think many of the Rogue One figures will be re-released on Andor Card backs.

QFNW: With the Blurrg confirmed in the pipeline for the Vintage Collection, it got me thinking that we haven’t seen very many creatures and megafauna in TVC as of late. So what other creatures from the Star Wars galaxy would you like to see Hasbro take a shot at for TVC? For me, I think the one I’d like to see the most (especially with the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith next year) would be Boga; with a ton of articulation and maybe even a figure of Obi-Wan included with her. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a new Dewback (particularly with the whole “return to Tatooine” theme that Hasbro has going on currently) or even the Geonosian Arena beasts. I've been playing "catch-up" for the last couple of years and just got one a few days ago. I opened it yesterday to just take out the figures. It seems to me the Jabba is way out of scale. He seems small compared to the Jabbas of old I remember. Am I wrong about this? Should I be upset? Also in another Haslab related matter I picked up the Razor Crest about 6 months ago MIP, but the ramp extension doesn't slide out. I don't want to force it, but is there anything I can do that you know of to make it work properly? Thank you so much!

what do you think of hasbro making a 2-pack of malak and the sith apprentice version of bastila? they could use a plastic overlay for the robe so then the jedi version with a different overlay could be released on its own card, thus re-using the tooling for almost the whole figure. i couldnt save her in my playthrough of kotor

I’d be massively surprised if the figures are tooled. It’s the reason it’s crowdfunded. Tooling money is the big spend they wait on till they are sure of something. I think they are just very expensive prototypes to be camera worthy. The cantina itself looks finished in their updated video with modular shelves but that definitely isn’t tooled
dude why wouldn't you just custom make that out of sticks for free?, real twigs would look more realistic anyways, plus you then have something unique to your collection.
Regards to retro collection totally agree i can appreciate them but they need to stick to original trilogy or even the prequels not new media no need for it
The "tooling" for figures is not made just because they made a prototype to show off at the backing stage. Just in the same way the tooling for the cantina itself or for any previous haslab has already been done. Obviously. The versions you see advertised - and this goes for ALL Haslabs - are prototypes. We've already seen how the actual Ghost toy is going to differ slightly from the finished product because it was just a prototype, not the final version. Watch hasbro's recent video and you'll see at least partly how the prototype figures were created. They're not pre-tooled before they back, that would make no sense from Hasbro's perspective.

Hey BB, QFNW: With the incoming Haslab Cantina fans will have plenty of options of what iteration of figures they want to display within it (Original Kenner, Power of the Force, etc.) My question comes from the perspective of someone wanting to display Retro figures within it. I know you are not a big Retro fan, but what would be the dream wave of reissues / any new Kenner style figures? We already have all the mains re-released and this could be almost exclusively Cantina. Reissues of Hammerhead, Walrusman, Greedo, and Snaggletooth are fairly easy to imagine. In terms of a never before made Kenner figure you could do everyone from Wuhur, the good Doctor Evazan, to any of our favorite Bith Band. Could even sneak in a Kenner style sandtrooper or Garindan. Ideally this would be a wave, but Hasbro seems to be stuck on doing the boxes so we would be limited to 6 figures.
Retro is awesome, new figures in that style are even more awesome. Growing the “Kenner” style is only slightly below TVC for me. In many ways Retro hits those carded vibes better than TVC does, except for the faux wear-and-tear markings. 5 POA Kenner is the source for all of this hobby.
If C-3PO is vac-metalized and has no prequel gimmicks, I will gladly buy it. If it's more of the same, absolutely not. And no, I will not be supporting the cantina. Mostly because I know that people will be wanting some of the included figures to be in the main line and hasblo will lose more customers that way. At this point, I actually celebrate their mistakes.

Hasbro have said the the HasLab is the only way to get Wuher and Sisters. The tier figures will be released but on non exclusive cardbacks.

Yavin Base Control Room would be amazing, or even Echo Base Command Center...anything with those super cool glowy tactical screens.

I'm definitely thinking Fenn Rau (as discussed in this episode), The Grand Inquisitor (Rebels version, totally different head sculpt to the one released), Agent Kallus and the wonderfully sarcastic and droll AP-5 would fill in some of the gaps in this series!

I keep the cardbacks as you can stack them so they don't take up much space. When I was a kid, I always wanted to keep instructions and cardbacks, but my mom wouldn't let me as she always made me throw away anything paper or cardboard.

Q: What must do things should hasbro always do moving forward, i will list a couple just to get the ball rolling.
Deluxe figures should never be new figures repaints are acceptable but classing them as world building to include piece of the world is much better.
Lightsaber and Lightsaber hilts are required for every Jedi figure.. if possible i'd also love a force hand included for jedi to be swappable.
No figure should like Morgan Elsbeth ever come with no items, or just a cup, Worst case senario pack them with common imperial/rebel blasters, but world building screams out!
And of course.. four packs as Character only packs, or Army building packs, don't mix and match these!

Hey BB, QFNW: I was thinking about the Ghost, and we don't really have any opposition for it besides regular tie fighters. If you could add another vehicle from Rebels to tvc, would you rather it be an inquisitor's tie fighter with another inquisitor, a tie defender (which we've never had in 3.75" before), or a Mandalorian fighter with a Fenn Rau figure?

Great video as always, Tim! Tier characters, like the three base figures, look great but they are prototypes. The steel tooling molds that are so expensive do not exist yet. Yes, the design and sculpting work is far along. But tooling is the hard steel pieces used to actually manufacture the toys. The steel tooling is what is super expensive these days and why we see so much reuse and repaints. Have a wonderful week!

I'm always after some characters from older lines on secondary market but I fear buying characters that either have been pipelined or high chance to be pipelined in the near future. With the Haslab being a playset my question is, what is your favourite existing playset in TVC? I’ve got the Nevarro Cantina, Tantive IV and Boba’s (Jabba’s) Throne Room. The Throne Room probably just takes it for me. How about you? Do you have a favourite? And do you have any playsets you would like to see in the future?

Definitely 3PO needs an urgent update. Shiner but a bit dirty, taller and without all those pieces falling apart every time you move it around.
Personally I expect a new Landspeeder and a Dewack in this Return to Tatooine / ANH era. And I pray for a new Tarkin.
My question for next week. Why Hasbro put so less effort and love for the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back? We just received the Carbon Freezing Chamber, Slave I (I mean Sprayfighter 😅) and some repacked figures. No Snowtroopers, no more Bespin sets, no Hoth sets or vehicles, no Dagobah, etc... Do you think that is any plan to return to TESB?

Why do you think the cantina has been so slow to back ?
Some collectors like me are tired of Hasbro’s behavior of taking advantage of us. I reject the fear so many have that if we don’t back it, TVC will end.
Costs too much. End of. I worked in the plastic injection molding industry for years, and i know this is less than 50 bucks worth of plastic, and thats being extremely generous. 500 big ones is disgusting. They are passing on all the tooling and logistical costs onto us. Shame.
We need two more Action Figures for that Price !!!

QFNW: We need a new AT-AT Driver in TVC and the closest thing we've gotten to a super-articulated Driver is the Legacy figure from 2009. Unfortunately, that figure is not great and giving OT troopers removable helmets with Clone heads underneath is something that I hope NEVER makes a comeback in any Star Wars line. So, do you believe that figure can be retooled with a new, non-removable helmet to be a passable TVC release or would it be better for Hasbro to just start over from scratch and give us a completely new AT-AT Driver with fully updated articulation?

My question is often Hasbro, Lego, Hot Toys, hot wheels and other toy companies all release new figures of the same character around the same time- for example black series and hot toys Arena Boba Fett, or TVC Bad Batch Rex, Lego Rex's Microfighter, and the black series Rex Helmet. Do you know if Disney/Lucasfilm tells the toy companies what and when to do these kinds of things, or is it just most companies agree what characters sell well?
I just don't have the space for stuff like the Cantina set. *sigh. Possibly the only the like this I'd ever spring for is if Haslabs did an Executor bridge set or Death Star overbridge.

A new X-Wing sounds great! Some features besides a steady set of wings (re-use Poe Dameron’s X wing) could be a more movie accurate paint job (Dagobah crash scene), yellow ladder the pilots always use, a fuel port for refueling (Yavin base scenes), and more detail and paint in the cockpit, especially the targeting computer that the pilots use in the trench run (A New Hope)!

I believe Hasbro really muddied the waters and started mass confusion with the future of Haslab figures by offering the extra Ghost figures to the general public (different cardback), but the same figure nontheless.

Hey Bossk QFNW: What do you think about the Hasbro making the Tonnika Sisters being Haslab exclusive and basically pay walled behind a very expensive play set ? I am asking because for years collectors were asking these figures and voted in every possible poll to have them in TVC. Now for me and for many people this is a very expensive set that I can not afford at the moment. I think that these kind of decisions are weakening the community. Because next time when people are are going to vote for a figure they will be thinking “Will this be also a exclusive and paywalled”. I am sure that this set made a lot of OT collectors happy but also made a lot of other collectors sad, that wants this set but just can not afford. I believe we should bot encourage Hasbro to paywall figures that vast majority of collectors want. Maybe to make every one happy Hasbro can make a Haslab just for these figures in a more reasonable price. This would also be great for both carded and loose collectors.

In short perhaps Hasbro thought that the sisters wouldnt sell well in the main line. There have been plenty of instances over years where requested figures havent sold well. When the sisters won Last Figure Standing I saw plenty of negative comments such has 'why do people want two characters so bad that were on screen for 5 seconds' or 'I just dont get the hype for the Tonnika sisters'

Collector since 1978. I buy all of the new media Retro Collection figures. I don't bother with the OT reruns as I've owned most of them in the past. My brother in law and one of my friends (same age) are all in on Retro.

QFNW: With the Blurrg confirmed in the pipeline for the Vintage Collection, it got me thinking that we haven’t seen very many creatures and megafauna in TVC as of late. So what other creatures from the Star Wars galaxy would you like to see Hasbro take a shot at for TVC? For me, I think the one I’d like to see the most (especially with the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith next year) would be Boga; with a ton of articulation and maybe even a figure of Obi-Wan included with her. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a new Dewback (particularly with the whole “return to Tatooine” theme that Hasbro has going on currently) or even the Geonosian Arena beasts. And that figure is Sim Aloo, the Imperial Dignitary.

Hey Bossk! QFNW: As I write this I'm super excited that the Cantina crossed the 8000 mark just a few hours ago! However, my question is for the Sail Barge. I've been playing "catch-up" for the last couple of years and just got one a few days ago. I opened it yesterday to just take out the figures. It seems to me the Jabba is way out of scale. He seems small compared to the Jabbas of old I remember. Am I wrong about this? Should I be upset?
Also in another Haslab related matter I picked up the Razor Crest about 6 months ago MIP, but the ramp extension doesn't slide out. I don't want to force it, but is there anything I can do that you know of to make it work properly? Thank you so much!

what do you think of hasbro making a 2-pack of malak and the sith apprentice version of bastila? they could use a plastic overlay for the robe so then the jedi version with a different overlay could be released on its own card, thus re-using the tooling for almost the whole figure. i couldnt save her in my playthrough of kotor

I’d be massively surprised if the figures are tooled. It’s the reason it’s crowdfunded. Tooling money is the big spend they wait on till they are sure of something. I think they are just very expensive prototypes to be camera worthy. The cantina itself looks finished in their updated video with modular shelves but that definitely isn’t tooled

The "tooling" for figures is not made just because they made a prototype to show off at the backing stage. Just in the same way the tooling for the cantina itself or for any previous haslab has already been done. Obviously.
The versions you see advertised - and this goes for ALL Haslabs - are prototypes. We've already seen how the actual Ghost toy is going to differ slightly from the finished product because it was just a prototype, not the final version.
Watch hasbro's recent video and you'll see at least partly how the prototype figures were created. They're not pre-tooled before they back, that would make no sense from Hasbro's perspective.

Hey BB, QFNW: With the incoming Haslab Cantina fans will have plenty of options of what iteration of figures they want to display within it (Original Kenner, Power of the Force, etc.) My question comes from the perspective of someone wanting to display Retro figures within it.
I know you are not a big Retro fan, but what would be the dream wave of reissues / any new Kenner style figures? We already have all the mains re-released and this could be almost exclusively Cantina. Reissues of Hammerhead, Walrusman, Greedo, and Snaggletooth are fairly easy to imagine.
In terms of a never before made Kenner figure you could do everyone from Wuhur, the good Doctor Evazan, to any of our favorite Bith Band. Could even sneak in a Kenner style sandtrooper or Garindan. Ideally this would be a wave, but Hasbro seems to be stuck on doing the boxes so we would be limited to 6 figures.

I think Hasbro is butt hurt by Stan Solo and The Last 17 doing better figure choices. Acolyte instead of a completed Bad Batch is a travesty.
Retro is awesome, new figures in that style are even more awesome. Growing the “Kenner” style is only slightly below TVC for me. In many ways Retro hits those carded vibes better than TVC does, except for the faux wear-and-tear markings. 5 POA Kenner is the source for all of this hobby.
Im an otc guy but this cantina is so heard to display and we wont get all teirs and thats not happening. This will be the worst selling haslab
I'd say the modular nature of it makes it the easiest Haslab to display.
If C-3PO is vac-metalized and has no prequel gimmicks, I will gladly buy it. If it's more of the same, absolutely not. And no, I will not be supporting the cantina. Mostly because I know that people will be wanting some of the included figures to be in the main line and hasblo will lose more customers that way. At this point, I actually celebrate their mistakes.
