- This is how to get over that fear threshold when it comes to coaster wheelies. I make all kinds of stunt riding tutorials aimed for the beginner. I've been there and I know exactly what it's like. Now I've learned a whole lotta things and I just wanna pay it forward...
for collabs, more content and BTS stuff check out @rideyardmedia on instagram. thanks for watching!
people be scared of backflipping the bike … meanwhile I’m almost front flipping slamming that brake out of fear 😂
can’t wait to get it right, thanks for the tips.
That was my main fear too learning coasters 😅 keep trying, you’ll get it 👍
Did you get it?
Bro is the best wheelie teacher I have ever seen
Thanks man! Glad you like it. I’m here to help👍
You hit a lot of good points and concepts that a lot of people don’t mention but are super important!
Thanks for letting me know max! I really appreciate that. Would be awesome of you to say which points you found more rare or not talked about enough?
Is good to get over fear at this point. Yes great video
Thanks bro! ✌️
6:05 I'm at this point right now, playing with my rear brake pressure now that I'm gaining a little bit more trust instead of just mashing it too hard when I get too high. Absolutely key point, thank you!! Also the weight being on your butt and the bike pivoting at your hips also a HUGE tip, I found if I focus on the the wheelies don't feel as high and I can look thru the bike much much easier instead of trying to look over the handlebars
I’m so happy you found the video helpful bro!! Your comment made my day. This is exactly why I do these tutorials. I remember how it felt being on that threshold just wanting to push over it but it’s so scary before you find that rear brake pressure. Keep going bro and keep me posted!
Awesome tutorial easy to follow and understand
Thanks Ryan! That means a lot to me. I really try to talk about all the different aspects of it. Thanks for watching👊
Too bad I found this video after learning. This is the best wheelie tutorial on RUclips. Very well explained.
Wow, thanks! I’m trying to make the videos I wanted to find when I learned all this by myself in the woods 😅 thanks for letting me know tho 👊
Best tutorial out there hands down!
For real? Thanks bro, appreciate it✌️
Ive veen practicing, learning and watching. Still beginner but this is some of the best advice ive heard yet
Thanks Jake! I love to here that! What are you struggling with?
You explain it very well. I catch myself leaning back way to far in the wheelie sometimes which I guess is needed when doing hand drags, which I can't do but yes I feel way more confident when my body position is more upright like you suggest. Awesome info! I'm almost there. Thanks so much brother!
Glad it was helpful! I try not to leave out anything that might be useful to someone learning this stuff. What bike do you ride bro?
@@rideyard 2018 drz 400sm
@@jbird73 cool. How do you like it for wheelies?
@rideyard It's my first moto so I couldn't compare but I did put the 39 carb and all the other mods to give it more power. It's a tank though. Probably 300 pounds. I've been riding for 3 years. Wheelies are insanely addictive.
@@jbird73 yeah I’ve heard they’re heavy but with the right technique you can stunt em no problem. Have you ever considered another bike?
Very good, thorough tutorial. Thanks👍
You’re welcome Jason! Thanks for letting me know 🙂👍
ive seen soooooo many wheelie videos trying to describe what you did in this video, this is the first time ive seen a video that actually makes sense.....incredible.
This makes me so happy! I’ve watched so many wheelies tutorials and I’m really just trying to fill the gaps. Was is something in particular that stood out in this video for you? That was extra helpful? I would love that feedback. Thanks for watching bro🤘
@@rideyard yes! I've never seen somebody explain it as dropping below balance point to then throttle up and clutch in at the same time like that. It makes perfect sense and I even went and tried it after watching the video and I can start to feel it, I was trying to just pull the clutch in right as I was at balance point before and it was really tricky and jerky, dropping it down a bit first and then rolling back up makes much more sense and is a lot less jerky. Great stuff man.
@@southerntiersupermoto884 good stuff man! I’ve tried so many times being as high as I dare and then pulling the clutch but that approach is 10 times more sketchy and scary. I find this technique where you do a dolphin jump over bp is a so much nicer way of doing it. Thanks for commenting and keep me posted on you progress! Sounds like you’re gonna need a scrape tutorial pretty soon 😁🤘
Great Explanation! You nailed it!
Thanks bro! It’s so hard to explain such a complex thing in easy to understand ways.
I love the intro with the old school vcr and vhs. Btw, very good tips. 👍👍👍
Thanks!! 🙂 appreciate it bro
You’re the best dude! Thanks for taking the time to give us these tips!
Thank you bro!! I just wanna help out. Comments like this keeps me going so thank you!!
Real good tutorial, the pivoting with the hips and putting pressure downward. I had to learn on my own back in the 70s 👍
Thank you so much! Means a lot to me coming from you Wade! You’re the grandfather of wheelies 😄👌
@@rideyard 👴😂 Thanks I wish I could turn back time, but I’m thankful at 63 just to be able to still be riding even on two wheels 👍
@@wheeliewadethiesen2946 let’s do that interview soon!
Awesome video! I have been trying to coast for a while and I am at a weird point. I feel very comfortable with my wheelies but im trying to get to the next level. Most wheelie videos are way to basic or way to advanced so thank you for this!!!
No problem bro! I’m here to pay what I know forward! If you have any questions just ask 👍
have you got it? I think I was at the same point as you for a whole year because I didn't commit to practising them, I would either not practise it at all or practise it for 5 minutes and then ride off to pull some power wheelies lol.. just when I started actually practising for a week and one day I literally felt that it clicked for me, the next day I'm able to coast for 1-4 seconds even though that's short, after a whole year of power wheelies, being in and above the balance point feels sooo good
the tips from this video really helped and what also helped me feel very safe above the balance point was shift locking
@@highrider5487 that's so awsome bro! good work. It's really a skill in it self to be able to feel when you're pushing to hard out of your comfort zone. you don't wanna rush things and crash but if you play it too safe you'll never progress. I'm so happy you got to that next level for you. now it's time to go for that sweet scrape bro... :)
@@rideyard ruclips.net/video/uDmyQIpj3iM/видео.html and I got it today! though this is the second scrape today, I accidentally didn't record the first one so I got really frustrated lol, but I'm happy I managed to repeat it for the second time, it's really an amazing achievement, the first time I scraped was soo exciting, I couldn't believe it and sat on my bike for like 5 minutes trying to comprehend what I did lol, I might've hit the brake too hard though not gonna lie
Great explanation, thanks a lot. I’m starting to dip the bike now, and slow down my wheelies. Only thing i wish you mentioned was that you put your foot under the shift lever. That was something that made a big difference for me. It made me feel more secured on the bike. But overall this video helped me a lot.
Yeah I hear you. There’s two reasons why I didn’t say anything about different hooking techniques in this video. 1, if you use I grippy seat cover it’s not really necessary just for coasters and 2. It’s not the safest way to learn em if you’re gonna be attached to the bike like that. I’ve hooked my foot and it makes a difference for the better, no doubt. Thanks for commenting bro!

Thanks Ethan! Appreciate it! Unfortunately I got done negative attention towards that channel so I had to shut it down. But we’re here now🙂✌️ honestly I’m not at that level with swerves to do a tutorial yet. But as soon as I unlock them I’ll make one 😅 thanks for watching bro. I’m glad you found me again
Great tutorial actually in depth unlike others

Awesome advice
Thanks man! Appreciate it✌️
Good clear advice, everything makes sense 👍
Thanks for letting me know! 👊 more tutorials like this coming soon
Fantastic!
Thanks bro! ❤️
Great tutorial. One thing I struggle with is slowing down the wheelie. Dropping it back and getting back below balance point and repeat could be a video idea?? 💡
I can relate! Slowing it down is truly the tipping point of when you’re past balance point and start working more with braking, foot or engine, than throttle. It’s nerve racking but the best feeling when you get it. Try reaching higher heights by reducing brake pressure with your foot. That’s how I reached balance point the first few times actually
@@rideyard2 months ago I struggled slowing down my wheelie. Fast forward to now, I can comfortably go past balance point and safely slow down the wheelie. Thank you so much bro, I just had to commit! But… how do you steer the wheelie??
@@ethantenhaaf6354 now that’s what I’m talking about! Great job bro! 🤘 heck yeah! Steering is harder to be explain but make sure to place the weight on seat and start carefully pushing down on the footpegs while past balance point. You can also push the bars to the the direction you wanna go. Not turn it but push it outwards. But true turning happens with your hips. Good luck
Hey, your tutorials are amazing, always so helpful - thank you! What happened to your last channel? ( The wheelie progression series was great! )
thanks bro! I try to make them as helpful as possible. good to hear they landed well with you bro. my last channel got some negative attention and I had to shut it down unfortunaly. But I'm here now and I'm keeping it up :) how did you find me again?
It took me like one hour of searching in youtube till I find it. Really happy that you're okay and you're still making videos!
@@wowflipercho what?? did you seriously search for me for an hour? I'm blown away bro... ❤❤
Other dudes say the opposite; that you do want to lean back. They say it moves the balance point further back so you don't have to lift the bike as much. But you pull cleaner, dankier, and more controlled whoolies, so I know who to listen to.
I’d say we’re both right. Leaning back does lower the balance point but barely noticeable plus the risk of getting stuck in static riding position with your arms fully stretched are so much higher. You wanna be able to freely move your wrist to work that throttle at all times. Stay up bro! ✌️
Love the videos. Tho I curious, why do riders put their left foot under the foot peg and not on it? Thanks
Thank you! Appreciate it 🤘
You can hook your foot under the peg to prevent you from sliding off the sea when your in a really high wheelie or in a one hander. There’s variations to this, som hook their foot in between the peg and the shift lever
Keep on making videos
Thanks bro!!! I most def will🤘
You have a great channel, friend!!!
Thank you so much bro. Appreciate it
Excellent video man 👍🤟 10:07
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you found it useful 👍 more of this coming soon
Hello Boss!! Awesome video and indeed really explanatory too- in contrast with many others and trust me i ve studied the whole RUclips!! So i have a question. I own a crf 450 R-stock gearing- and im doing really high wheelies. But But... i dont use the cluch during the wheelie (only to pop up) so they are kind of slow but not really slow. Should i try doing coasters or should i first learn to slow my wheelies with the cluch- which i havent succeed at all at it yet. Also some people say that my bike is hard too for circle wheelies e.t.c but still i madly love to the bone my bike and not a chance to ever give my CRF. Really thank you for this video Boss!!!
Hey Mariam! Thanks for watching and commenting. You’re the real boss! 👊
I’d say it’s a good idea to learn how to properly use the rear brake in your wheelies before going for coasters. Stay on a steady throttle around balance point and start using that rear brake. Try to get a few for how much the bike dips down when you push your rear brake lever. When you feel more comfortable with all that, watch this video again and you’ll be golden! 😄👍 and yeah, the crf is soooo awesome ❤️
@@rideyard Really REALLY Thank you Master 🙌

Thanks bro 👊
Damn you need to make more how to videos great explination
Thanks a lot Joey! 👊 I’m working on a bunch of tutorials but my time for filming is very limited. But I promise more will come. What tutorial do you wanna see? 🙂
Ok so I can clutch up but I’m nervous on what to do at balance point or what it feels like, can you make a video on what to do/expect when your at balance point and how to keep it up and actually hold balance point? Like do I drop it down a bit to get momentum and then blip it past balance point or idk but if you can explain thank you😂
@@Slim_productions626 I’m actually working on a bp wheelie video. I’ll include answers to all of your questions for sure. And more! 🙂 keep your eyes on the channel 👍
11:24 Yup. I looped my XR and it did nothing to help with the fear except giving me a bruised tailbone.
Sorry to hear about your crash bro. But you’re here now watching videos trying to improve so I’d say you’re on the right track 🤘

Good stuff bro! I try to bring that true value to the wheelie community. So awesome you found it helpful 👍 let me know how you do! What bike do you ride?
@@rideyard i Ride a Beta rr 125 lc, a lil 4 Stroke, your tip worked wonders, feels like I ride the bike when i lean in the opposit Direction that the bike is going and Not like im Almost falling of.
Hey I was wondering so after you do the clutch in coaster and u start slowing down and bike dropping forward how do u catch it should you just let the clutch go or slowly let it go ? Also when you coaster do u do it in 3rd gear or 2nd
When come back down to bp I usually let the clutch out pretty fast and meet up with the throttle maybe half way open. Depends on the gear and speed of course. What gear I’m in depends on what gearing setup I’m running. I’m this video it’s 14/44 and then I like 2nd the most. Lately of been running 14/52 and then it’s 3rd that’s the most comfortable. Good luck bro
why does everyone tell me to lean back when doing wheelies? you've shown me way more than what everyone else on the internet says I got a older 2 stroke i been learning to coast i miss my 450 shouldnt of gotten rid of it lol
Thanks for commenting bro!
I don’t know why a lot of people lean back so much when doing wheelies. You do lower the balance point slightly when you shift the weight further back, maybe that’s why?
Cool, how are your coasters coming along ok that two smoke?
What bike is this? Crf250r?
2005 crf450x 🤘
Should one shift lock?
It’s not necessary to lock in any way when you do coasters or scrapes when you have a grippy seat cover. May if you have a slippery stock one? I don’t know, haven’t tried. What bike do you ride?
Crf450rl
Where did u get your dual brake caliper looking for one for 2017kx250f
It’s a nissin caliper from a 2003 crf450r. And then I made my own bracket to position it where I wanted it. It was a headache but I finally got it to sit centered 👌
@@rideyard that’s kool but is there anywhere I can buy one
@ I guess eBay? Craig’s list? Facebook marketplace? Do you live in the us?

Drap=drop 😂😂😂😂😂 dont think you needed that explanation but hilarious
lol. When I was editing it annoyed me so bad 😅 the struggles of not having English as your native tounge 😂
Why do you keep you clutch so far down is there a reason regards wheelies
Good question bro. I guess I’m just used to have pointing slightly downwards. Or a lot 😅 when you stand up on the bike it’s so uncomfortable to have to stretch your fingers upwards. Worst feeling. How do you keep yours?
@@rideyard I had mine down like you but changed it now I'm thinking of running it back that way.
There is not one video on RUclips of some one putting a go pro on the bars and filming what exactly your doing with the clutch. And same for back brake if you could somehow mount a GoPro and then put them side by side on a video that would be great
@@ozbulitsinces1996 if I had more GoPro’s I would! It’s a good idea
@@rideyard some one get this man some more gopros 🤞😂
All my trail dirt bikes engine cuts off or carb sputters bad when I try to coast, people say it could be float or needle clip. I just want to know why it’s doing it on my bikes and not on these dudes I see riding dirt bikes
Well the float bowl in the carburetor which allows fuel to pass through it and into the engine is not designed to work when your at that angel. My bike gets trouble getting fuel when I’m up at coaster heights. I’ve solved this by learning clutch in coasters but in America throttle coasters are way more popular and I know that a lot of riders don’t close the throttle all the way when they coast like that to avoid fuel issues like sputtering. Do you get troubles in clutch coasters too?
@@rideyard didn’t try that but I will get back to you and let you know big dawg !
