Opening the combination lock on ergo luggage without code.

- Here's a quick video demonstrating how to open the combination lock on ergo luggage when you've forgotten your code.
1. Cut a small piece of thin paper or plastic to a 90 degree angle.
2. Slide the paper between the case and the first combination wheel looking for a grove that the corner will drop into.
3. If not found rotate the wheel and keep probing until you find the grove. .
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all the notches have lined up.
5. Keep incrementing all wheels by 1 digit until the case unlocks. Usually +3 or 4 digits.
Once you have the right combination you can unlock the case and access the combination reset switch. Check the manual for instructions on resetting the combination.
After 19 years, I've finally unlocked my suitcase!!! Goodness!

Thank you so much for this. I had forgotten a suitcase in the garage and it had been there so long I couldn't remember the combination. It opened within 3 mins of finding the grooves, and moving them on. I cannot thank you enough. Pity it was only old clothes inside and nothing valuable.

I really didn't think I was going to be able to do this but I did it!! I bought a Samsonite from a thrift store, I moved the combination not knowing anything about it just to be locked out of it, not usable "/ thanks to this video I cracked the lock!! there's a lot of videos out there that didn't help at all! including the Samsonite website. awesome thanks so much for this vid!

It works! Within a minute! Finding the correct "tool" is key though, in my case I used cutout craft paper-like plastic cover, the one u usually use to make scrapbooks. Thanks so muchhh seb dooris!

This is the only video that worked! Thank you so much. It helps to think of the 'groove' as more of a lower flat spot compared to the feel of other rounded areas. Also move up/down all digits 5 places to get the combination. ie: 797=242 . Thanks again.

Wow! Thank you so very much! We just bought the box and did a test combo and the darn thing would not open. The combo was supposed to be 522. Well, I ran a thin plastic along the edge and sure enough I found the grooves and the combo was 402. Go figure. Now we have to set a new combo and if we have the same issue - we're taking it back. We have an autistic child who has no concept of money. He just knows that we use credit cards, cash and checks. So he is always swiping our cash and now he is taking the checkbooks and the credit cards. So now we can put it away safely. Thanks again!

Thank you!! This didnt work for me at first but then I decided to try the other side of the wheel from what is shown on the video ..lol since my suitcase was bought in Asia and voila..found the grooves!! Only technique that worked for me!

Awesome Thanks!! My mom died 12 years ago and left this mystery Carlton suitcase in her storage. FINALLY, after 12 years , I was able to open it in just 10 minutes after watching your very clear and entertaining video (cute accent you have)! The case was full of all her extra 'Bike Friday' bike parts and it turns out the bike folds up neatly into the suitcase!...Note: A thin piece of plastic worked much better than paper for me.
It worked great on a old briefcase I have had for years that I had some keepsakes in, but could not remember what the code was. Now that I know it, I wonder why I even set it to that code. LOL!!! Thanks, love that I can finally open it without having to use shears to force it open.

Using your tips, I was able to do it in an even easier fashion. I simply used a bright light and magnifying glasses to look into the space in between the dials, you can then easily see the grooves. Then just rotate the combination until it pops open.
You gave me the extra push I needed to 'keep trying' with my touch since the papers didn't seem to be findinf it, and mmmwa! Worked like magic! 👌🏽😚👏🏽 thx.

Try using a thin but stiff bit of plastic, ie piece cut off a soft fruit container as less flimsy than paper. Definitely works - thanks for tip - opened suitcase that hasn't been used for 20 years!
