hi, Stephen! Congratulation for interpretation of Brazilian music. I`m Brazilian and I just saw a documentary of Mignone himself explaining the "corner waltzes". They did serenades to beautiful women on the corner os the streets. Those pieces were like improvisation, but the he decided to write them in a somewhat classical style. (I'm 35 and since the age of 15 I myself never understood the name of these pieces, and these pieces themselves that somewhat sound less classical than I thought they should be... they were IMPROVISATIONS!!)
due to all of these, I tend only to play no 9, which is the most classical of all of them. but now I can understand them better. and those 12 are written in ALL TWELVE MINOR KEYS!
So sweet interpretation. I played this waltz at year-end exam for piano grad years ago. Your interpretation caught Mignone very well. Loved it. There is one study on the 12 Corner Waltzes, in Portuguese though. You can google translate if interested. repositorio.ufmg.br/bitstream/1843/AAGS-7ZQGR4/1/dissertacao_final_2010.pdf
I ordered it from a sheet music store in Brasilia that has an online store. If you go to www.livrariamusimed.com.br you can view a lot of what they have for sale, but they have a lot more that is not necessarily listed online. The online ordering through the website is meant only for Brazilian customers, but if you send them an e-mail, Joselita Soares will contact you and work to send you what you need if they have it, or will also order it for you if it is still available and currently out of stock. I found a lot of rare, out of print Brazilian music there. You can even pay them through PayPal. I highly recommend them. If you do contact them, be sure to tell Jo that I sent you there.
Sublime!
Linda!👏👏👏👏
